Yes. That was indeed a violin at the end of the end of the song. You've started your dive into The Who with a couple of stone cold masterpieces. The higher vocal in the middle of the song is Pete, with Roger singing the rest of the song. All the screams are Roger. The clip for "Who Are You" is another one to check out.
This was the first The Who song I ever heard, and I was hooked on them, I was about 13yo in the mid 90s, and heard it on a rock anthems compilation. Piano, drums, guitar and screaming lyrics... The essence of rock. "I don't need to fight, to prove I'm right,.I don't need to be forgiven!" Powerful stuff for a impressionable 13yo kid from small town northern England struggling to come to terms with being gay!
I love where this channel is going right now with classics! Love from a punk rock fan! This is my wife’s favourite song so she’s all of a sudden become part of the gang
The great bands of the 70s didnt just give us songs, they gave us experiences. You could literally drive for an.hour in your car and only have listened to 4 songs 😎 The live concerts were breathtaking experiences, too.
When the drums come in at the end I have no idea why but I always picture different people dancing to it like Hopi, Lakota, Eastern Europeans in bright costumes, etc.
Love Reign Oer Me, Who Are You, Won't Get Fooled Again, Join Together, The Real Me, 5:15, Behind Blue Eyes, Live at Leeds, The Punk and The Godfather.... the list goes on and on and on...
Make sure to react to the Shepperton Studios versions of these live songs. BTW, regarding the Shepperton Studios version of Won't Get Fooled Again, in the next studio over from where The Who were performing this gig for The Kids Are Alright movie part of the movie "Alien" was being filmed. The cast and crew from "Alien" came over to watch The Who and they liked the laser show at the end of Won't Get Fooled Again so much they borrowed the laser equipment from The Who and used it in the movie. So next time you watch the movie Alien, keep an eye out for The Who's laser show in the film!
Pete is running the sound of an Organ through an ARP 2600 synthesizer for what you call the "Sprinkles in the background" His last name is pronounced "Townsend", I don't know why the H is silent there. Main vocals are handled by Roger Daltrey. The "Don't Cry, Don't brace your eye it's only a teenage wasteland." is sung by Pete. That is indeed a violin played by guest artist Dave Arbus, when performed live Roger would play this part on a harmonica. Also the reference to "teenage wasteland" was also said to be about "waste", Pete Townshend wrote it in protest to the apathetic response to the environmental problems that continue to plague us to this day. You are 10 years younger than me, and I welcome you to the wonderful world of classic rock. I hope you enjoy your visit.
My best friend was trampled to death at the Who concert on 12/3/ 1979 at Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati, Ohio, even though it was not their fault i can't listen to any of their music i knows it's not fair to the band but i can't help but to blame them i know it makes no sense but it is how i feel and will always feel. R.I.P. Jimmy love and miss you everyday.
Good call on your next choice! My favorite all time band with a huge catalogue of classics. Yes to electric violin and Roger Daltry on vocals. Might try Pete Town...send in solo. "Slit Skirts" is wonderfully cool.
Any song by The Who you find yourself nodding to the drums or acknowledging it over Rogers's voice is going to be when Keith Moon was alive. Would be awesome if you looked up some of his insane stories and reacted. He was the original trash the hotel room and stage instruments rocker.
It's ok to pronounce Pete's name that way....Another channel people got critical of that pronunciation ..It really is Towns-end but it's no biggie .I heard a D.J. in K.C. in the 70's pronounce it the way you did..So roll with it..Enjoy the effort you put into the reactions ..
This is a song that you would play while you were in the woods drinking off a keg next to the bomb fire while making out with your women while you were getting wasted
Who are you, my generation, and behind blue eyes are some of my favorites. Awesome band and unfortunately our generation only really know "who are you" because of our parents watching C.S.I.
I feel glad. I’m 18 and get to listen to this stuff for the first time. Grew up in a time when modern music is shit but I pretended to like it because it’s popular and most people do. Luckily as I’ve grown up I’ve discovered my music taste and now I just love music and I’ve still got more to listen to
@@unitedpundit7023 heck yeah 👍 there is so much awesome music through so many different generations. Even today's music as well, so don't ever feel like you have to say something you don't like is cool just to be a part of the crowd. There is no shame in being authentic and being yourself. Hope you keep on your journey of all the generations of music 🤙😁
As far as the songwriting genius you're talking about it's Pete Townshend. He writes 90% of The WHO songs. And Townshend is pronounced with the h silent. Townsend.
Us youth at the time were blamed for everything, still are blaming youth...has it ever worked ? Just asking in behalf of a few million future leaders...
" Behind Blue Eyes " is a great Who tune.
Roger Daltrey is the lead singer but Pete sings the "teenage wasteland" bit, in the middle. Great band!

Roger also plays the harmonica in other videos.
@@mikehutton3187 Yep. Most notably on the version from THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT movie.
The WHO, Another iconic band!
Saw them live in 82 and no band sounds like the studio album as much as these guys.Just awesome!
Give Behind Blue Eyes a listen. My fave Who song, with Eminence Front a close second.
You should check out some of their live performances. They are just as good to see as they are to hear.

Greatest Rock Band Ever 🤘😎🤘

Used to play gigs in front of 100K+ people in the 70s. Hugely underrated band
Lol,I like the way you get into these tunes! Brings me back to when I first listening to them.. Cheers
Love Reign Oer Me, Who Are You, Won't Get Fooled Again, Join Together, The Real Me, 5:15, Behind Blue Eyes, Live at Leeds, The Punk and The Godfather.... the list goes on and on and on...
Good list….good list!
Live at Leeds!!!!
Such a great album opener
Thank you for The Who. My nr1 rock band.
You need to watch the live performance of these songs

If you want to hear Pete on lead vocals I'd recommend "Going Mobile". It's also on the Who's Next album.
Now you have to react to behind blue eyes, another masterpiece from The who
Any song by The Who you find yourself nodding to the drums or acknowledging it over Rogers's voice is going to be when Keith Moon was alive. Would be awesome if you looked up some of his insane stories and reacted. He was the original trash the hotel room and stage instruments rocker.
That's how you end a song!
Bargain is one of their best songs.
You should react The who live isle of wight because it very very fire 🔥

Don’t do the brown acid ! Chip Monk Woodstock 69☮️❤️
Try Tommy by The Who!!
Way too many Who songs to suggest! Behind Blue Eyes, My Generation, Young Man Blues, My Wife, Boris the Spider, 5:15, Dr. Jimmy, etc etc etc
As far as the songwriting genius you're talking about it's Pete Townshend. He writes 90% of The WHO songs. And Townshend is pronounced with the h silent. Townsend.
This and stairway to heaven are tied for my favorite rock songs of all time
Us youth at the time were blamed for everything, still are blaming youth...has it ever worked ? Just asking in behalf of a few million future leaders...
I should have listened to this in headphones, now you got my dog barking.
Your next stop should be Bargain from the mighty Who.
