As you know, I used to make a video about we Tibetans not eating fish, which is one of our unique culture.
But there is a village near Lhasa, where the people not only eating fish, but also living on fishing.

They dont show the thousand of monasteries looted by their army during the invasion in 1950s. They dont show thousands of tibetan in concentration camps equipped with organn removing units. They dont show hundred of young people burnning themselves to death.

Whether you eat fish or not is not a reflection of your heart. Your behaviour is.
That kind of fishing by net is very traditional. That is also done in some remote places in the Phil. I am glad to note that the little fishes caught are thrown back to the river. Thanks for sharing. I learn so much about the Tibetan way of life through your videos. So interesting.

Many Tibetans in and around Lhasa ate fresh water fish from ancient time, hence the existence of the 2 fishing villages on Yarlung Tsangpo River on the outskirts of Lhasa. Especially in Spring, fish is believed to have special health benefits and were a popular dish in homes around Lhasa. Fresh or sun dried fish from Yamdrok lake areas were very popular and consumed almost as sacred food. Apart from being known for their exceptional sweet taste, they presumably benefit certain ailments because water from Yam-drok Lake is considered holy, hence its inhabitants. Consumption of local fish declined steadily over the decades due to over fishing by influx of migrants, and water pollution. In present day Tibet most youngsters fancy eating fresh fish and other sea foods imported from around China, and Vietnam. however this is not accustomed by most older population. Vast majority of elderly population abstain themselves from fish and other seafoods consumption for religious purposes as highlighted by the show. Especially during the month of Saga Dawa; or holy 4th Lunar month which celebrates the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha. During this period, many Tibetans around the world would rescue substantial amount of live fish from markets and release them in waters to contribute to their merits.
In the opening of this video we see one of the fishermen brings a fish to his mouth, murmurs something, and then releases the fish back in water... it’s a gesture or expression of kindness shown to the fish. Tibetans typically say a special mantra or a short prayer when one encounters a helpless creature or critters in the hopes of the creature living safe life, and be born in higher domain of birth next time around in its cyclical existence.
Black-neck Cranes once found in abundance in Tibet’s plateau were thought to be gone extinct from from hunting and loss of their natural habitats. So pleased to see a handful is surviving. Hopefully they are enlisted as endangered and are protected.
Well, first of all, there is no “Tibetan Chinese” as such. It’s either “Tibetan” or “Chinese” simple and clear.. Doesn’t matter which part of the world one resides both ethnic groups know they are two totally different entities with own set of culture, language, tradition etc... etc and one is descend of Tibetan ethnic and the other Han or some other ethnic group. Unless one is a mixed breed of the two.
2ndly, many young Tibetans who consume Sea foods are gradually waking up to new knowledge that the world is pretty much depleted of natural resources thanks to human greed and selfishness. They are starting to learn most so called sea foods in the 21st century is indeed NOT really coming from Sea. But they are in fact cultured and bred in closed facilities ... and are products of horrendous cruelty and abuse, and they are result of genetic engineering laced with toxic chemicals, growth hormones and treated with carcinogenic chemicals and antibiotics. There fore gradually increasing number of Tibetans equipped with the knowledge are restraining themselves from indulging cancerous Sea foods and fish. You seem take pride in consuming Sea foods? Educate yourself, and stay away from these cancer causing foods. Harvesting them is not good for Nature, nor for mankind!
@Pine Joi you liked your own comment?! lol Oh boi! Take it easy mate... there is no fish big enough for frying in here. I agree it is “almost” impossible to find pure organic produce not laced with some sort of chemicals. One way or another some chemical is utilized to ensure healthy mass growth. Apart from this, growth hormones, gene modification, and steroid feed are not necessary. According to studies chemically induced produce, fish and meats do more harm to health than benefit. I am sure you have organic produce delivered right at your door from designated farms. However, if you are growing your own produces for hobby anyway, then I recommend you to use products that are closer to nature to keep pests away... like baking soda ,vinegar., egg shells etc... Anyway... stay healthy, good luck and Adios!

It’s probably not just big animals, but has to be herbivores as well. Fish itself eats other creatures, so that could be why fish is shunned

China's cellular network coverage is far far better than that in US. That's also why Chinese villagers in very remote areas can sell their products online
it is nationwide infrustructure like building the 5G base,bridge,concrete roads,power grid and so on for almost every remote village ,that was why you could have telcom signal even in the high mountain.

In Buddhism, it's not a sin to eat fish. All non-Tibetan, non-vegetarian Buddhists eat fish and other meat.
Some Tibetans don't eat fish because they believe it's an incarnation of water deity.
