I believe the important point was he had a "backup offer". If he had not received then there was no point of all negotiations, and need to settle for less.
So as a 19 years old I was in the interview expecting being selected as freelance partner for client's development needs ( working in blockchain domain ) it was crazy how I was offered a full time position and partnership at the firm at the end of the interview. After that it boosted my confidence so much that now i close atleast 5-6 good clients per month :)
Funny, I had the same negotiation with one of the major MNC, as a 4+ years experience guy i had 8.5 LPA as my current CTC, and i received an offer of 12LPA This video is totally relatable for me 😂
Late to the comments but it'd be great if u can do the negotiation process for a fresher with no previous experience or for a candidate who is switching careers but has worked hard to self educate himself and how he can justify his expected salary ....great video and channel btw
@@FullDisclosure. i did negotiation on a phone call and sed 25k caus i was getting 22 in another non tech first and the interviewer did not even tried to call back and tell anything is was like we are not hiring him 25k is way to much i was like broo what the f pay 17k but let me in 🤣🤣🤣
Watched this video just before the salary negotiation meeting. I was not blank and I was able to put my word through. I was able to push a bit from their number.
Once the Hiring process is done, Negotiations are everything in the Job Market. I myself got a 20% better package being a 12th pass in comparison to other candidates who have completed their Graduation. Also, don't let your Egos fool you while negotiating. Best of Luck.

In india negotiation only works in markets, not in corporate, you are forced to accept whatever they are giving. Because due to much population, lacks of skills are available and roaming jobless, they are ready to get hired at whatever amount.
Great video. Loved it! But one thing, the candidate mentioned that based on the market research, the job position pays around Rs 13.5L+. But at the end, he accepts the Rs 12L (+ the variable component). So, even based on market research, can a candidate hope to get only the lowest number or was his "Rs 13.5L" data point a bluff to steer the salary numbers upwards?

If i were him my reply would be : "Thats not a certain benefit. Only certain benefits work for me, especially work life balance perks, i am willing to take 6 days extra vacation days per annum with the expense of X% discount on my salary".
@@ozan4702 I have said while the bonus sounds nice, I am more interested in my base pay. They use it as an excuse to out a chubk of your expected ctc in your variable pay.
Been thinking about this type of video for a long time, soo thankful that it automatically got recommended to me today . hoping to see some good content here
(commenting second time) The video was good, altho imperative in negotiations, i wasn't expecting the throwing off of "more" than expected and "less" than expected just to carry the conversation forward (like a fish market :D) . I do have a doubt in my mind, I read an article LONG ago where someone was sharing their real/imaginary negotiation experience, they told the HR that "my friends are making more than this in smaller FIRMS , and mostly are less skilled than me at this point and it wouldn't be very prestigious for both of them (company and candidate) if he reveals his salary range in a group outing and it comes out to be considerably less than the friends from smaller firms, is it a good idea? and are there any other similar tips we could keep in mind? finally.... the placement season is about to begin for colleges, do make a video for freshers if possible(keeping in mind the market is really bad right now and getting a job is hard in itself)
I love the video-great presentation by the team! It would be great if you could have covered some steps or suggestions on how to negotiate to 18 LPA. I know companies focus on industry standards, but as an employee, I still want to know the best way to get the maximum salary. 😂 What if a candidate has proven themselves in their last job and exceeded the industry standards for their role? Would you advise using those numbers in the negotiation round?
Never negotiate in your first offer you don’t have options , I had an offer letter from first company EY who give me only 32% hike from base pay but till my notice period end I had more than 4 offer and highest was 24lpa base pay which was more than 100% hike from my base pay of 11lpa in Accenture
Great video. Subscribed!!!. I wish I would have watched it before. But here is one question. What if the recruiter ask you if you are serving notice period or already holding an offer before hand?
