You sure know how to make a fine looking pumpkin head. Nice use of material that I wouldn't have first thought of. Lots of interesting flexibility in the head and mouth too. Gotta try it
@@StiltbeastStudios you've had it together from the start. You're humble, but you have to know the impact you have on the halloween community. It's big.
Utterly brilliant and totally cheerful. Just what I needed as I started my own Halloween prep this week too. ( Been making pumpkin headed rag dolls) Love seeing the crew at work and Alex with the traditional cry of fingers stuck in hot glue. We all know it well.
I just discovered your videos today. I will be watching more in the future, but I need to tell you something. In the first video I watched, you talked about the importance of using a reference, to get it right. In the second video, I watched you build a pumpkin with a stem growing out of a leaf. What you did looks good, but... anyway, you gave some great advice in that first video I watched
this is a whimsical children's pumpkin- the reference I used had that ring of leaves around the stem, from a childrens book -so I did it. use reference, and your imagination ;). like imagine im a good artist lol.
Allen you seem like a fun guy to work for. I love horror and Halloween. I have been plumbing for about 10 years now for the same company. I would probably quit my job to work for some like you. It has all was been a dream to work in your line of work👊🍻
Most people find it difficult to leave a career to go into special effects work. It's what we call "the golden handcuffs"- because normally special effects work does not pay very well and sometimes it comes in waves. Do you already make things on your own? Or would this be a complete new start from the beginning? I would suggest buying materials on your own and practicing here and there on your own for a bit. I wish you the best of luck in whatever career you choose.

I remember the pool noodle pumpkin. Can't wait to see what this one is made from. Edit: this is way cooler than the pool noodle one. That flexibility allowing the mouth to open and close with a wiggle of the head is brilliant. Will definately be making this for my sons halloween costume this year!
WOW!!! Another AWESOME IDEA!!! NOW, I THINK THAT THIS ONE MAY BE A LITTLE MORE BEGINNER FRIENDLY. Maybe?! Those sections of the pumpkin may be a little tricky. Oh well! I just need to, “GO MAKE STUFF!” 😊👍🏼👋🏼🎃

That looks really cool. I have been watching so many videos on making stuff out of eva foam. I just made a lantern out of eva floor mat foam and a pretzel container.

I love this. I am going to have a Jack o lantern display in my front yard this year and this will save on buying a lot of Jack o lanterns from stores.👏👏 Thank you
I just discovered your channel. I have learned so much from you in the past few days, I have a lot of projects planned. First I’m doing a plaster head cast.
I taught myself how to make masks of this size, but with papiermache. I make them for my son's costumes these past several years. I've made bendy, Sans from Undertale, and Kenny from south park. It makes me happy to see that I was doing the mesh on the inside correctly all this time. I wanted to make sure the mesh would stick properly, especially when hand painting the eyes, so i did the hot glue sandwich method. So glad my instincts were right. Your mask looks amazing. Hopefully i can make one of my own. I've never work with foam before. Maybe it's time for a new medium 🎃
Fantastic vid! I've made a lot of puppets out of a similar, thinner foam and contact cement so I'm sure this would be a breeze. Also isn't cutting the corners off or a section of foam with scissors one of life's simple pleasures?
"If I had a marker, I don't have any markers", *has 200 markers... Doesn't actually need a marker... Boom! Pumpkin. Thanks Allen! I've been waiting for this one.
Oh yeah! You saying that reminds of the Kool-Aid commercials. Lol. If I wanted to corpse something like this for display instead of wearing, do you think the flex seal is okay to use a base layer, or should there be another hard coat used instead? Where does one procure coach foam for cheap, and where did you get the pattern? Thanks for sharing!
just google sphere pattern - here is one www.tooaquarius.com/tutorials/covering-round-ornaments/ how big do you want it to be? just put that into a parts of a circle calculator like this one- www.calculator.net/circle-calculator.html that tells you the size it needs to be- full disclosure- I didnt do any of that, I just drew a long football shape and copied it till I had a circle- no pattern and I did the size calculation to get a 24" sphere. Does the flexseal make it outdoor safe? The the concept! So much easier than carving spray foam.
its safer- how long does it take a mattress on the side of the road to breakdown? figure the flexseal makes it double that time.

this is upholstery foam, so its about as safe as sleeping on your couch face down.....the contact cement however....just read the can.

....card to Harbor Freight! Got it for my birthday!
Love the pumpkin. Foam is so expensive now.
use garbage foam, from an old couch or mattress- it does not have to be new.
What sort of acrylic paint do you use in the airbrush? If filtered would just any work? Maybe watered down just a bit?
a higher quality acrylic paint will have finer ground pigment- and yes, it just thins with water.
What thickness of upholstery foam did you use?
I would be on cloud 9 if I could make a living making Halloween props, masks, decorations etc.
that was 3inch foam, it was scraps that I got for free!
