Sad old boats but Very interesting Video. I have a buddy out in Jersey. We used to Kayak here in Utah. If I can get better I'm going to go see Mike and say get the boats out pack a lunch and beer let's go tour some rust 😁
The description says "Take a tour over the Arthur Kill Ship Graveyard in Staten Island, NY. (Courtesy of Jersey Drone)" so I Googled "Arthur Kill Ship Graveyard" and it came up with a business name of "Staten Island Boat Graveyard." and a phone number. Apparently it's a scrap yard for boats much like a junkyard for cars. There is also a Wikipedia page with more info on the scrapyard.
@@Nicholas-f5 most of the bottom paint would be copper based. The white top side on the other hand would have been white lead... But honestly, little compared to the historical load of other toxins.
Why do theses ships owners get to abandoned them, instead of paying to scrap them out? So waters get polluted with and make an eyesore and eventually Tax Payers will foot the bill!
jim poesl the company responsible is slowly reducing the number of ships. But some are banned from being moved do to all the chemicals sitting in one spot (the ship itself) and moving it at one time can release all the chemicals in the bottom and pollute the river even more than it just sitting there
If it isn't already this should be a superfund site and every last one of those wrecks should be cleaned up and scrapped. Absolutely despicable that it has been allowed to get this bad.
I enjoyed the crap out of that. Not just as a drone pilot, but as it made me imagine the days of when men were working on the decks. Nice job.
Fascinating. Thanks for putting it up. Nice quality footage.
Sad to see all those ships like that..
Beautiful video.
Beautiful footage. Thank you. I have drone envy😁

Shot across the water from one of my favorite places. I have seen you out there, Jersey Droneman.

Piękna historia.Zatrzymane strzępy losów ludzikich w tych wrakach.

it's also not in New Jersey.
Great video. Well put together too. What kind of drone took this?

Toxic ship paint, yes

Awesome video... why say off the coast of NJ? This is Staten Island and a river bank isn’t the coast. 😐
These would have been great reefs if sunk offshore
I was thinking the same thing!
Clean this garbage up!! It's scary, dirty, and dangerous, times have changed.
Wow just wow
Where is that exactly would like to go see it
Staten Island

Even worse, it's a business
We need to clean up these toxic ships.
So Polluted very sad all the poisonous oils and fluids in that water.
Been looking at this all my life. Don't understand why it was never cleaned up. It really is disgusting.

Talk with your legislators
Where is this, AC?
Sehr schön :-)
It's shameful the way these vessels have been abandoned..this junk needs to be cleaned up ASAP.
m schiffel there not junk these ships sit here watching as we advance they are the forefathers of the ships of today
Some of them need to be restored. One ship there, a WWII sub chaser, was one of 2 WWII ships with a mostly black crew
@@sirboomsalot4902 I know some of these are really amazing ships
Why doesn't the Coast Guard or the US Army Corps Of Engineers tow these abandoned derelict vessels away?

👍👍😩😢😭😭
Staten Island is not New Jersey, learn some geography.
I have seen this is person
