Yeah the SL1 the SL2 sw1 sw2 in the Saturn coupe automatic or manual were your only choices SL1 the SL2 was a twin cam motor. But it was priced very respectively you didn't argue with the car salesman the price.
@@davinp I agree - GM tried to take the Saturn brand "upmarket" toward the end which failed miserably predictably - GM should have continued and grew its collaboration with Toyota and turned Saturn into a brand for modest high MPG cars offering versions of the Prius and Echo instead of the ill-fated Chevy Prizm/Pontiac Vibe clones.
For me a bad car is an unreliable car. Many cars mentioned here are perfectly good cars, but don't meet the American expectations. The rest of the world is perfectly able to hit the highways in a 60 horsepower car, but Americans seem to need at least 200 horsepowers, while driving in the US is slower than driving in Europe.
It’s not only about reliability and horsepower, those things are important but most of these cars ARE ugly. Lots of people don’t care about good design, but all facets of man made objects should be designed well!
I had a 1997 Ford Aspire in college, overall it was a good car. no major issues in the four years I had it. The 1994 was probably a bit worse, though I was always told, you should always wait 3-4 years after a new model car comes out to give the automaker time to work out the bugs. Besides, they build the car for over 5 years, thats a pretty good run for a suppose it bad car.
Disagree with Saturn being a bad car. These were extremely popular cars back in the day, were well built and an example of GM snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory thanks to corporate infighting over having a division in the company that nobody wanted.
Saturn's on this list? I owned 2, both purchased new, and drove each for 6 plus years until selling without any problems with high miles. They were actually quite nice cars in my opinion.
90s Honda Odysseys weren't the ones with the major issues, (that's the second gen), and tbh an aesthetic styling that one MAY not like shouldn't be a reason that it makes the WORST cars of the 90s.
GM was scrambling to come out with a minivan to compete with Chrysler. A problem with the design is the sharp glass edges on the front door. GM had to put a warning sticker
The Saturn S series were quite reliable. With the 1.9 sohc motor. The later L series were more troublesome. And the Previa has a cult following among mini van enthusiasts
We only had the Trans Sport in Germany and to this day i'd love to have a white one of those - with black lettering 1701-D on the side, it's a frigging type 6 shuttlecraft from ST:TNG on wheels!
"We timed..." Yeah, I have a hard time believing a channel that can't be bothered to record a real voice and instead resorted to AI actually timed something themselves.😅
The only reason Ford imported the Aspire was to get their CAFE numbers up, and they were based on the manual transmission model. Problem was, rental-car companies were buying them in droves because of the low price, but they ordered all automatics. Which was a 3-speed. No overdrive. Which resulted in EPA fuel economy numbers just slightly above that of... the Crown Victoria. Oops. It took a few years before the top brass realized that the Aspire was actually bringng their CAFE down, so '97 was the last year. Similar problem with the 3.0 V6/ 3-speed auto Tempo, which got the same EPA rating (18 city/ 24 highway) as the Crown Vic with the 4.6 OHC V8 and 4-speed auto with overdrive. Double oops.
Please, i have a 2004 Monte Carlo and everyone STILL talks about how nice it is. Just yesterday, I was getting my serpentine belt changed and he was talking about how good it still looks and why chevy changed the front end into a Impala
And yet the previa called the tarago in Australia was a humongous success much like Chrysler minivan in the US. But when the Chrysler minivan made it to Australia it was a bucket of puss that very few liked
My 1994 Ford Tempo should be in this list. Transmission blew at 64k miles, it went through the rod ends annually because the cheap bastards had put shorter Scort tie rod ends on it for a cost-savings. Even complaining to Ford did no good. I was told that we spend huge resources ensuring customer satisfaction, but "limits must be placed on those efforts." In other words, f off. I will only buy a Ford if Bill Ford himself gives me a check for that transmission.
I was cruising up Sunset Point North of PHX and on the hill a Caravan blasted past everything up that hill. I said I gotta get one . I've had dozens . And I got the Chevy minivan and at 225.000 miles fully loaded with a trailer would blast up that hill 100mph to the flea market . But I never could steer the dam thing . Just something about the Chevy ... It's just different
He mentioned the nisson quest in this video, mercury villager was made roght along side. I had a villager and loved everything about it, it got totaled or i would have had it for much longer if i hadn’t
My mom owned a 99 Saturn almost new had it for 7 yrs gave it to me whith 194 thousand miles on it and I drove it for 3 more yrs and sold it whith 246 thousand miles on it great great car ❤
Disagree on the Saturn. It was cheap yes but actually pretty reliable I've seen them with 3-400k. Not a luxury car but not priced like one either. The Previa, while slow and weird, could go as far as 3 or4 Chryslers with their crap transmissions.
The European was a slow piece of junk. My bother had a 1996. The main computer finally died, during winter. There was an X-90 in my neighborhood, Not sure if the owner still has it.
Those Saturn's were very reliable. Don't know why they are on this list.
yes, when they first started. But later Saturns weren't as reliable. GM mismanaged Saturn. Saturn wasn't supposed to be similar to GM's other brands

Those cars are trash the body panels are made from plastic.💩🗑🤦♂️🤷♂️
@@Angel-fu4td Uh yeah that was on purpose lol one of Saturn's claims to fame was having rust/dent resistant body panels.
Actually the Trans Sport is still better looking than many SUV of nowadays
The Monte Carlo should have never been FWD. It should always be a RWD personal luxury coupe.

It’s funny because now most cars look and feel great but break down all the time….kind of the opposite….
a 3.1 Litre that produces 125 hp. 🙂
And then America laughs at European lightweight cars with 1.2 litre engines that produce 60hp.

The early Nissan Sentra was a parts house dream! Everything on that car was rubbish! Including the internal engine parts! LOL!!
Enjoyed the snark!

Saturn s were great cars!
I had a 91 Saturn SL2. It was an excellent car. Don't know why it's on this list.
What exactly is an antie-eater? 😂🤣

I had a 94 Aspire, he was spot on with that one, worst car I ever owned, got better gas mileage from my Ford pickup

The Subaru X-90 was inspired by the AMC Metropolitan, and paved the dirt road for the SmartForTwo.

all of the car mentioned are beautiful, I wish can have one.
The Ford Taurus is a brute diamond.
I had a 91 Capri xr2 most reliable car I ever owned ! Saturns are reliable as well thelis video is misleading !
The Capri XR2 was Mazda 323 Mechanicals, that’s why.
