This game has an interesting rubber-banding system unlike other racing games: when you're winning, the AI drives faster; and when you're losing, the AI drives faster.
the answer is to turn on the insta-kill collision cheat and laugh at their angry programmed tears.
its funny cause the race AI slows down AND never takes shortcuts when its in the lead
which is something you can easily notice if you use something else than the basic car and pay attention to actually take shortcuts LOL
So its like gta but instead of the ai slowing down when you are way behind, the ai keeps going and getting faster

People who never played this game might think Jerma missed something huge or made a lot of mistakes in Set to Kill
No, the mission is just that hard. In TAS speedruns without crashing at all they usually only have around 5 seconds to spare.

@Jimmy De'Souza No mention of the guy being drunk. He totally had 100% concentration and was even logical enough to take some shortcuts so it wasn't suboptimal most of the time. I'd consider it the 2nd hardest mission, the hardest definitely is the last mission bringing the toxic waste to the mothership w/ Grandpa's WW2 jeep that had horrible handling.

When I had this game as a kid it had a weird bug where I couldn't ever save, always got an error message when I tried and couldn't figure it out, so I always tried to beat the whole thing in one sitting and it was awful.
Sounds like the files were corrupted. Could’ve reinstalled the game or factory reset the console

That "destroy the free laser stands" mission is where my 8 year old play through of this game finished. I remember my parents making me stop because I was getting so upset with the mission. I think I went back to it only a few years ago, at age 20/21 and I still couldn't do it. Fuck that mission.

TBF, during the entire stream, especially the bits where the game was getting frustrating, a lot of chat were being real assholes. A ton of hardcore backseating because he wasn't doing stuff perfectly, or didn't figure something out immediately, and a lot of those people just telling him to stop playing the game because he sucks. I heard that at the end of the Krusty missions, there's a cutscene where Bart takes a sledgehammer out of the trunk and pulls the guy he's racing out of his seat and throws him onto the ground, and he crushes each of his limbs until they are an unrecognizable red pulp. Pretty good game.
