When I was in high school in Michigan City, Indiana in the early 60's, the school stadium overlooked the C&O's former Pere Marquette line to Chicago. I was in marching band, and at the Friday night football games I would watch C&O freight and passenger trains pass by. So I know that passenger car color scheme! There was no steam by then, but every now and then a rare PM/C&O EMD BL2 would be in the consist. But the Monon branch to town also used BL2's, so they didn't seem so rare at the time. Anyway, thanks for sharing your new rolling stock and triggering some memories for me. I continue work on my small switching layout, which your videos in part inspired me to start. Cheers from Wisconsin.
Thanks for the comment Andrew... That's a great story... I must have been a sight to see those cars in service. Beautiful pieces of art... Happy New Year! John
Thanks Anthony! Yeah BLI kind of snuck this run out which means they most likely didn't produce many. It is an absolutely stunning model... Happy New Years.. John
Very handsome streamlined C&O Hudson type locomotive,I really hope that I am able to purchase one of these locomotive models for myself in the future at some point as the C&O rr had an impressive variety of steam power.
Nice addition to the collection, John! That locomotive is beautiful. I'm glad I'm not the only person with a small switching layout that likes to collect some nice passenger trains on the side. Haha.
Lol thanks Alex.... yes I acquire way more for the collection than I do for the layout lol I will be treating myself to a special Steam Loco every year. Hope you had a nice holiday. All the best, John
I love the old B&O C&O paint. That locomotive is nowhere close to what I want to model but I have been and still think about getting one. Such a cool locomotive. Cheers Rob
That loco is going to look great pulling those cars. I look forward to what your planning fore the future. I'm hoping to relocated to a house here in the near future. Hopefully, I can get back to working on my trains.
Oh that’s to bad. I am up in Baltimore all the time with my job. I’ll let you know next time I’m up in the area for more than a day and maybe we can meet up at the museum.
LOL thanks Mark. Once we get his DCC going it will be making some laps for sure. I Should have some running videos up from the Club layout though. Thanks for watching!
John....that's a fantastically beautiful engine and train combo!!! But I think that style of engine was late 20's to 30's Art Deco style streamlining. ....and I'm intrigued by your statement of a new layout? Can't wait! ...Claude
Thanks Claude. It sure is pretty. I believe these C&O Hudson’s were converted in the 40s but were quickly replaced by Diesel in the mid 50s. Yes I will be building a new layout in my new house. I hope to be moved in by summer. I have been doing a lot of planning now that I have the exact dimensions of my Layout space. Thanks for watching! John
Great finds! That's a beautiful locomotive. Should look like a dream running on a layout with those coaches!
