Not an Ipswich fan but I once saw him play one of the greatest matches iv'e ever seen played by a defender, and iv'e been watching football for over 52 years
We were privileged to have him. A shame that his career was cut sort by injury. I think football fans would be more aware of his abilities had he played for other clubs, but a lot of professional players are and were aware of his talents. A great servant to the club.
Can't believe I've never come across this before. Wasn't around to see the Beat play but this shows him as the mythical, magical figure he has always been to me.
You know why Phil Thompson played so much for England in the late 1970s and early 1980s? (Kevin and Thomspon were friends)..Beattie was injured and his career ended, would have been perfect at the centre of defence with Butcher..
Aubrey Rooney A typical Norwich sheep shagger. We have a history unlike Norwich, we have had more well known players than Norwich, we have more supporters all over the world and we have a bigger ground. Just keep following Sheepshaggers City, they need you.
I cannot think of a SINGLE Norwich player who comes anywhere near Kevin Beattie, in terms of strength, power, heading ability, pace and shot. RIP the greatest Ipswich town player ever.
@@robbieporter1612 It's an echo chamber isn't it.... we used to be good, we were better than you 40 years ago, do you remember when? Blah blah blah 🙄 Yes, a great player, in his day, he'll be turning in his grave at the shower of sh!te that you have become, moving on, the future starts now.....
RIP Kevin Beattie, the greatest Ipswich Town player ever.

Bill Shankly tried to sign him for Liverpool.
Another history lesson from a club that has no future. Mind the Gap.
