Thank you! I have been sewing for well over 50 years. I normally use flat patterns. I just bought a dress form. I would love to know the best way to pad it out to mirror my frame, as well as how to use the tape lines everyone puts on them. I love a cross over top bodice with an A-line skirt dress. I live in SW GA and have two nice pieces of linen that I would love to make into summer dresses. If you would be willing to do a class or video series of "Drape along with Anastasia", it would be lovely! 😸😄
I think that can be a great idea if you are wearing the fabric you are draping but for making mockup muslin samples for draping a quick steam iron is all it needs. These mock up items will never be laundered or worn outside of fittings. I have worked in many design houses and the muslin is never washed before use. It will also shrink and lose the body that it has once you do that.
I have tried draping but for some reason, it never comes out - not sure what I am doing wrong, but I think it is one of those things that looks really easy but takes a lot of practice? EDIT: So any videos you make, you know I will be watching them on repeat until I have it down.
You do not need to wash it. You are using it for draping not wearing it. Muslin is a grey good and can be used for fashion mockups without washing it. A good steam with the iron will give it all it needs.
I never thought about blocking fabric, but it makes a lot of sense!
Absolutely! Blocking fabric really helps to ensure that your draping turns out beautifully. Glad you found it helpful!
Iris is going to be sewing some amazing projects in no time!
With the way Iris is going, we might need to keep a fabric store on speed dial!
@@SewAnastasia It'd be fun to see a video cut together to make it look like Iris is sewing. Maybe they could make a cozy little cat bed!
I love your videos they are so informative and there are always little tidbits of hints along the way, thank you so very much for the info!!
You are very welcome! I'm glad you're finding the little tidbits helpful.
Thank You! What an awesome tip- I would never think of doing this, and thank you for your great step by step tutorial!
You're welcome! Blocking is a game changer! Now go forth and drape like a pro!
This is an awesome tip, thanks Anastasia!
I'm so glad you found it helpful! Happy draping!
Thank you for the great video 💕💕
I love your sweater!!!
Thank you.
Thanks for this! Do you need to block the real fabric you're going to use for the garment too?

That’s such a great idea! I’ll look into making a series! I have padding a dressform on my list of videos to create!
@@SewAnastasia I would watch this video, too!
@SewAnastasia Thank you! I know it takes a lot to create content.
Can you do this on fleece?
I would just like to add to your great tutorial….. wash and dry your fabric before you block.

Wouldn't this apply to fabric that you're going to just cut pattern pieces from? Seems like warped fabric could bite you there, too.
😮
