- This is HANDS DOWN the worst tank I've ever played in War Thunder. The ZT3A2 in War Thunder is a South African Tank Destroyer in the British Tech Tree.
The ZT3A2's main armament is a 7.62mm MG that has a weird triple rocket launcher stuck on top. This missile launcher is capable of firing tandem HEAT missiles at a grand speed of 220m/s. Basically, a Maus can drive out of the way of it!
Seriously, this thing is going to give me nightmares. I have no idea how it's at 8.7 and being moved to 8.3! I honestly thing if this vehicle was at 1.0 it would get clapped constantly.

Mines are a bigger threat then RGP's on South Africa's border.
Yeah, also they can add so much backup crew with it. Not to mention he did figure out why they put it higher. thanks to the location of the launcher the whole vehicle can be hidden behind 20 feet of earth whilst having a clear guided shot on targets. There is reasons why they did so well against tanks

A reminder that this was the tank that destroyed Cuban armored columns in Angola and provided one of the only audio recordings of tank-to-tank kills in history.

In real life it knocked out t-54s when South Africa said sorry to expensive to send the tanks.
Well t54s dont even have thermal nvd or good rangefinders at all they are about as basic as basic gets the fact alone the zt3 has agtms even if they suck makes it a better tank in terms of killing capability

It seems that the video is missing its description, but here is what was apparently happening:
"8 rounds were fired 3 MBT's were destroyed. Only 4 ZT Mongol's were sent to Angola. They were still in production phase and used at the Lomba still relatively untested. The ZT3''s were positioned at the treeline just short of the Shona. The first two missiles pulled up vertically at around 200 meters. The third did not fire. The forth missile hit the lead tank in the track idler which stopped it. The fifth missile destroyed the tank. The over excited gunner now shifted his aim to the second tank, which had tucked tail and was retreating to the river, but missed as the missile hit the ground just in front of the tank. Hannes quickly brought him back to earth in a time honored way of many a commander: a sharp crack to the back of the head. This calmed him down and the sixth missile hit the tank on the rear plate blowing the turret about 25 meters away."
What's funny is this APC was a absolute monster IRL.

Idk if the lack of depression it had is realistic, if it isn't, they should definitely fix it. It would be a significant portion more effective if it had depression. The lack of depression gives me depression.
From what I gathered from.the devblog, those missiles are supposed to be laser guided (even though I'm pretty sure they are coded as normal SACLOS in game) ; so maybe the laser pointer could depress more despite the actual launcher being blocked at -5° ?
@@MadManchou I'm unsure as I haven't used it much and haven't played in a while due to my moving. I don't know where I'd find information on this as the ratel zt3 seems to have very little information about the launcher itself. I don't know how it would be practical irl with no depression.
The publicly available specifications I'm finding quote 10° of depression and 20° of elevation. Also, the missiles are supposed to have a low observable (low smoke?) rocket motor. Also has a range of 5km.

@@jarrodnaude3004 me too..it’s a shame the TTD is going to 10.0 where it’s armor will mean nothing and speed will be almost below average...imo the vikers mbt with the Leo chassis and decent armor turret with he 120mm still sits at 9.7 shows me that gaijin balancing department is not only strange idiots bout also inconsistent through patches

The whole lower part of the turret is basically paper for some reason.
I hope they add the Mk 7/2 in the future as the turret looks to be vastly improved.
@@lafosh7234 How nerfed British and Commonwealth tanks are seems to depend on how frosty diplomatic relations are between Russia and UK. RP-3's became garbage after the failed Skripal assassination.
TBF this was designed to clap poorly trained T-55s in thick bush and tall grass, not fight leopards in the middle of a city
"this is the worst tank" still gets more kills in his worst game then I get on average in my best game
I've pretty much given up playing. Way more enjoyable watching Odd own everyone than pulling out my teeth trying to spade trees.

Last time, i saw one in high tier simulator in Hürtgen Forest and it obliterated the whole flank with its missiles
Ngl its kinda sad how bad it is. I myself am South African and was REALLY excited to see some SADF vehicles...I hope Gaijin buffs it a little or at least moves it down. We get so little representation in any game ever that it would be terrible for the few that are in suck at everything.
But besides from the sad rant I enjoyed it Odd! Keep up the good work and try not to overbrain yourself with WT logic!

Odd you should take a historical sadf lineup with the ratel 90, eland ratel 20, the olifant mk1 and the rooikat mk1d. My granddad was the commander on a ratel 90 and told me how they sat in bushes and waited for the angolan t-54’s and 55’s came rolling by, and late in the war he told me how he was in an olifant mk1 and the commander of the t-55 they were facing looked right at them and didn’t see them and then they yeeted the t-55 with a heat round
My father was a gunner on a rooikat from 1987-1989, he told me they basically waited in the bushes for the t-54/55s and just shot them left right and centre

If you think this is bad, play the type 93, it can’t kill tanks, and it struggles to kill aircraft, it has 2 crew members and can be killed by anything and everything. It is the worst vehicle in war Thunder hands down

@@nathansherman5684 I have over 1000 games in the type 93 and it is far more effective than this thing ever wishes it could be. The missiles are far too slow, it's large, no depression, 2 of the 3 crew are in the turret, can't fire on the move at all, and with all of that it's also a TD so it can't even scout things to gain passive RP.
This tank seems like it will forever be a hidden gem, it's now got 1000mm pen and fixed sights.
Pushing 660 kills to 300 deaths in a "struggle bus".
Tip; the tanks size is its strongest point, it can fire over obstacles nothing else in game can, making for some maps to be extremely cheesy when nobody bothers to look for your pod peeking from a rock or container nobody should be hiding behind.
Gaijin severely underpowered this thing, irl it shredded, one time it destroyed 3 soviet tanks within 5 mins and was much faster and keep in mind its irl so its not as easy as war thunder, gaijin disappoints us once again

The way the Ratels were used is in an ambush position in dense cover moving in a V-shape after every shot

I once saw someone carrying with this APC with 9 kills on Middle East, but I also heard from someone else that this APC is shit

It does and it repairs extremely quick, my uncle and graddad were gunners and commanders on them and they said it was very quick and easy to repair them
Man, when he said that it doesn't get scouting abilities, I immediately thought of the M56 Scorpion that does get it as a tank destroyer at a lower tier

These big cargo van type vehicles should Get extra abilities to make up for their succ. Maybe the ability to give a replacement crew member to damaged friendlies, or replenish a few rounds of ammo. Idk.

Well, two quick changes that would help a bit would be to give it the ten degrees of depression it has IRL and bring the Ingwe A2 up to its real velocity of 330 m/s!
Also the 1000mm pen its supposed to get

‘I wish this thing had scouting’ something i thought about the M18, and now it does! I don’t agree with everything gaijin does, and i realize irl the M18 was a TD, but in war thunder it’s perfect as a light tank. It behaves like one and that 76 is really good. One change i love. Now i’m waiting for a good sound mod. (Looking at you, Jack Martison...)

I have no idea why, but I use a 2016 laptop with integrated graphics and a i3 and I have no problem at all with thermals, none of that weird strobing thing. Good job Gaijoob!

Pretty sure the crosshair is like that to help you aim, cause the launcher is offset, so it reminds you to adjust for that so you don't hit your cover you're shooting over.

the one redeeming factor is how tall it is, there are some disgustingly OP angles you can get and with 3 fast firing rockets its a monster

Not just you Odd, the thermals screw with everyone. Mine flicker all the time, and some specific vehicles will do it every time I aim down sights.

Odd, have you ever played the IS-7? Try it. Phly did in a BR 10 game and it's surprisingly competitive. Just a request.
And this thing needs Scouting; it would as you said make it more viable. Here's a tip with any ATGM tank destroyer: you have range, so use it. Don't be seen, and stay as far away from a fight as possible.

it's so odd to me watching someone older then me have such slower reflexes but their raw knowledge of the game still lets them outplay me
Teaching yourself to slow down is key to success in WT. It's more a psychological warfare than reflexes absolutely. Even though I'm 35 I'm still Diamond in Apex Legends, the moment I get stuck in Gold, I think it's time to play Dominos or Blackjack! lmao

I don't know OddBawZ - you didn't seem to have had a bad time when you were destroying my team and killing me on the second Japan map :P ;) 31:32 - I was not looking your way because we were swarmed at spawn and I was trying to find targets (there were 3-4 tanks on the minimap). I saw on the minimap but you blended pretty well - thermals can be useful... also, I am sometimes blind to enemy tanks xD
