Thank you so much for making this detailed video.Just got home from Costco with the same chair. This will make putting it together so much easier..Much appreciated your attention to detail
For a minute I thought I was missing a part but then I realized I must just have a different model. (Mine’s 52460-BLK, and doesn’t have the plastic around the gas lift.) Thanks for keeping me company putting this beast together! 😄
It is now 2023 (October to be exact) and I just purchased this exact product from Costco Here in Henderson/Las Vegas, NV for my wife. The price is at $199.99 plus tax. Compare to this one which you bought and reviewed since two years ago, Lazy Boy definitely improved the product for more ease of installation and solid fitting, but removed the plastic screw and metal lumbar support. This might be a longevity concern as it is less metal support for the backing cushion and for the seat cushion. Over all, I think the product is good for the price and quality it offers. Thank you Costco and lazy Boy!🤠
I had purchased this chair yesterday, enjoyed your video watched entirely before setup, feeling confident that assembly would be a success. Thank you 👍🏽
One thing I have seen in all these chair assemblies the bolts are all tightened into position as they go. I was taught to leave everything loose until all parts are assembled. That allows for adjustment which appears one needs in the assembly of this chair.
I just put this chair together , just under 25 minutes by myself( I am mechanically inclined). Warning , if you are smaller, this is not the chair for you. At it’s lowest setting it will be too big if you aren’t at least 5’8”. It is also very wide and the arms do not adjust other than to flip(mostly) out of the way.
Thanks Mike! I watched the entire video before I installed the chair; and it took me about 20 minutes. I knew exactly what I needed to do so as to minimize frustration.
Thanks for video. Just put this chair together today. Was a gift. Super comfortable and nice quality. Unfortunately will have to return. It is VERY wide and the arm rests are super far apart, Much too far for comfortable typing. Also no arm rest up and down adjustment. If you are going to use this for daily computer mouse/keyboard use, it might not work for you either.
Do not tighten the arms before attaching the seat, it makes it much easier to assemble. Like most things that require assembly, never tighten fasteners until all the parts are lined up. It took me about 15 minutes to assemble without power tools. I am 6 ft. tall and find it comfortable.
First, when you tighten 4 screws you do it x pattern, not tighten one side then the other side. It might feel tight but it may not be totally flush. Then your screws will loosen up. Also, I recommend not to install the covers. Wait a couple days, then recheck the tightness on all screws. Then install covers. Aloha Jeff
Just wanted to thank you for posting this video… You were a big help tonight ! 😊 I’m a single mom and this kind of stuff is hard for me. My son has autism. It’s just my son and I my mom passed away to cancer, we have no other family. My son fell last month when his chair broke which caused his first seizure ever. I thought my baby was dying it was terrifying it still is terrifying. Life has changed dramatically. I’ve been scared to replace his chair especially since I’d be the one to put it together . Today he finally got his chair ,the lazy boy manager’s chair. I wanted to thank you for your support and guidance in putting this together. I’m not at all handy but I’m trying. My son’s father passed away from a diabetic coma since then I’ve taken on both roles. You were so calm and clear in your video that my son was following your instructions he was very excited to navigate through your video as I worked lol he was very proud of himself grabbing what you told him to use 😊👍 We did it ! The chair actually works 😁🥳 He’s very happy 😊 I don’t think I could of done it without you ! Thanks and take care !
Good job. I had no problem putting one together in about 30 minutes, but I cannot get the legs detached from the chair to box it up and return it. It is like just putting the two pieces together welded the parts together. I bought an upgraded version directly from LayBoy online--never again. It looks good, but it is not comfortable for me. Trying to return it is like trying to break into Fort Knox.
So you can't lock the lumbar support in place can you? I think if you're leaning back, put the lock, and then lean forward then it's supposed to just lock in neutral position. I bought this chair used so Im not sure..
Hi Mike! Excellent video! I was curious if you knew of where those arm panel covers (at the end) can be purchased for replacement? I searched and came up with nothing, but I thought maybe you or others on this thread would know. Thanks so much for sharing your work here!
There is a phone number for warranty support. If you call them, I’m sure they will be able to help you. I did a video about this with a different brand (could be same parent company), and they just need purchase information/receipt and sent me a free replacement arm.
I just got mine today from Costco also. Is it comfortable for you? I guess in the store it felt different at home, gotta break it in maybe. After a few months perhaps? Good thing Costco allows for anytime return.
@@embazle Its comfortable. Not the most comfortable chair I've used. But it was the best at the price point at the time. I prefer a more articulating type of chair myself. My wife still lvoes hers though. And yes, Costco is great about returns. Hope it works out for you.
@@MikeMu Thanks Mike, appreciate your response. I guess it depends how long you're sitting in a particular position, even in cases where you tend to slouch, which... in a slouched position will not give benefit for the lumbar support, in affect causing discomfort to other parts of your back. I guess it's a reminder to sit up straight! lol... but as a gamer/music production/work chair, you're gonna cycle through all your positions through a considerable amount of time. I hope it works out, if not, sigh... $+ for another chair.
Im shocked they didn’t offer an easier way to get the seat, and the back connected. Took me at least 15 minutes to get them together by myself. Overall took about 45 minutes to assemble
Thanks Mike you did a great job on being the assembler and dual cameras man the video helped me. Question and I'm a bit baffled. Have you figured out if the chair will lock in a reclined posture? I find the chair really comfortable except I do like to reclined and lock it. I have to fight to stay reclined without a locking mechanism. I'd appreciate it if you or any of your viewers know. Thanks again.
Hi - One of the reviewers at Costco website said that the lumbar support was uncomfortable but he/she just "removed the knob" and then it was comfortable. I came here to try to see which knob that was... it looks like it is the one under the seat. Since you have been using the chair, I was wondering: What do you think about leaving that knob off (removed the knob)?
@@MikeMu Thanks I will when/if I get one of the chairs, but I guess I was hoping if you could tell what would happen if you don't put that knob in at all? It is hard to tell so far (both from pics I've seen and (sorry) from your video, but would the seat back just fall backwards if the knob was not screwed in?
Hello. I just removed the nob from my chair, and the lumbar support has reduced significantly, which is what I wanted. However, the bottom portion of the arm rest holds the chair base to the chair back so I do not predict the chair back security is impacted when the lumbar support is removed.
Yes. It will eventually. Particularly if left out in the sun. Extreme heat, and cold; outside the norm humidity ranges; abrasive wear also. But I believe most people will get a lot of use out of it before that happens. Also my chair has started to 'creak' a bit. I think if I find the proper place to lubricate / tighten it should go away.
lol I watched this video to see how your tilt lock was working and at the end you showed it didn't seem to be and just shrugged and ended the video. I can't figure out how that darn thing works.
Unfortunately, it does *not* lock in a position that you may want. (at least my version does not). It is not a task chair, so they didn't bother adding that feature.
@@Maxarex Thanks for your honesty. I too think it's uncomfortable, it was hurting my back, and I wish the side arms were adjustable to lift up and down. After just getting it, sadly, I've disassembled it and will betaking it back to Costco. I did call them to ask about the return, fortunately I don't have to repackage it in the box, so I just took the back of the chair off so I can easily get it in my car. I've instead decided to get a Harmen Miller for $1500, lol, kidding, that'll be a dream to save for. I got a decent butt cushion to hold me over.
It's secure. Make sure you sit on it before you lift the chair. I've put together a fair number of chairs, and most of them do just slide in. Just know that it's not locked in case you want to pick it up and swing it around. 90% of the time, after its been sit in and used for a few days they are not coming out in most use cases except by force.
You just sit back. It doesn't lock in that position however. You can lock it so that it doesn't tilt (much). That's the flip lever on the left hand side when seated.
I want to love the chair but if it's not gonna lock in recline position I'm gonna have to take it back to Costco. I'm trolling all over creation trying to keep some semblance of a reclined position. That's weird. I've never seen an offoce chair that didn't lock in tilt. It's like LazyBoy just forgot the feature. Oops.
Sounds like your lever isn’t working. It works like almost all other chairs. You pull for it to go up. Release and it locks in place. Something may be obstructing the release. If under warranty, reach out to them.
Jennifer- Saw a comment in a different thread saying they were having similar problems with the levers not locking in heighth and said the wire was crimped, so undid from that little clip thingy, just let it hang loose, and problem disappeared.
I believe its 250 lbs tested. May be up to 275 lbs. But honestly it's going to handle more than that as long as you don't abuse it. (I'm thinking *Jackass movie* abuse here).

Try WD40 and then a rubber mallet. Give it a few good whacks around the stem.
