  • This lower Manoa neighborhood is no stranger to residential high-rises, with several already built right across from Punaho School.

    @0:45 If you don’t even know that it’s *KŪPUNA* , not Kapuna… you shouldn’t be using the word… or language in general!!!
    Seriously, I’m so sick of these outsiders thinking it’s okay to use the Hawaiian language to make themselves appear more integrated in the community and as if they’re doing something for the community, rather than theirselves.
    It’s EXPLOITATIVE, especially considering you’re building it on land your country stole from Hawaiians!!

      lol right?! I noticed all these new transplant developers doing that on the news recently… don’t they realize how crazy theyre coming off?! And why do they feel entitled to a language they don’t know, from an ethnicity they aren’t part of?! Imagine someone developing on a Native American reservation and using Apache or Navajo words to promote it 🤭😂. Or developing in a predominantly black neighborhood and trying to speak urban to promote it 🤭😂🤣😂. 🤦🏽‍♀️
      PS: Howzit? How you been?

      I’m of the thought process that protests don’t accomplish much, but if you wanna set up a protest, I’ll be there just like I’m at most of them… HOWEVER, I’m more focused on using international law to “protest”, now that The Hague and the UN have recognized the Hawaiian Kingdom as a sovereign nation in continuity and we have international law organizations, political scientist, UN experts and advisors, the literal author of the book used to teach international law, & foreign delegates working with our legal team to end the occupation.

      Ya, let's limit affordable housing in a city that desperately needs it because they mispronounced a Hawaiian word, which locals on the news do 24-7.... does anyone even realize that the modern Hawaiian language is complelty butchered and simplified to what it was 150 years ago? At this point, it's a made-up language from what it originally was. Unless you are 100% Hawaiian, just shaddap. I'm willing to bet your mostly haole, like most "kanaka" are who bitch and moan about things that could heavily benefit the people of Hawaii. You morons always do the exact opposite of what true ancestors of Hawaii would want. They were a people of progress and loved discovering new technology and new things. But if it was up to people like you, everyone would still be living like it was 1200 AD. 😂😂😂 stop pretending like you have the people of Hawaiis best interests at heart.

    They have a proven track record, there are units guaranteed for seniors, low income housing for other and they get a big NO. Strange.

    Need to realize Hawaii has a limited amount of land and like it or not not everyone who decides to move here can not . Need to start controlling entrance to Hawaii. The greater the population , the greater the violence.,. The greater traffic issues and strain on energy supplies such as water and electricity and even parking .

    Garbage. This is why Hawaii is staying in the past, same scenario as that telescope on Diamond Head that was never built. Hawaii residents/locals are resistant to change, and that's a huge problem. You have this real estate developer who's actually out in the Island, making things better by developing affordable housing and actually doing something, and locals are resistant to that because some old man whose way too old stubbornly doesn't want to sell the land. It doesn't matter that you lived there your whole life, it doesn't matter that he's a haole, just make an agreement to sell the house in a year or two after you finally kick the bucket, and have your kids inherit the money. No logic.

    • @erikh9991
      @erikh9991 4 місяці тому +1

      Exactly. They are building homes for seniors not golf course homes. They have a proven track recorded too. The only place for people to live is in the sky.

    Too much regulations to start is why condos,homes will always be unaffordable.When you purchase a condo for say $700k in this area,$300k is added to your costs.Developers have to upgrade roads and anything to make the area accommodating.
