Keep them coming Pat, condos in the 10- 15,000 baht range would be great. Near the Bts as I know for that price, they wouldn’t be central area of the city
I have been living in this area since I moved to Thailand 13 years ago. Even at that time I chose it because it was close to both the MRT and the river. At the time I travelled to work at Siriraj by boat. Since then, with the opening of the purple and red lines at has become even better. When I moved here there was only one large condo building but many under construction. Now their are loads. There are also many beautiful walks along the canals in this area. I have seen a dead body in Klong Prapa once.
I've been living in this area for over 30 years. Plenty of good food and very good transportation options. edited: At the end of the clip 28:39 there are many good local food outlets behind you. I recommend Ong Coffee Stand, he makes really good smoothie. You can also find really good restuarants near 7/11 too.
Ah Tao Poon… an area of memories. Though we did not live there, it was the junction of the main roads between Bangkok and Nonthaburi where my mom and her dad would pass through regularly. My sisters went to that school (Bhadungsit Pitthaya) back when it still had a high school English program. My grandmother spent her final years in Bang Pho Hospital. Near the Tao Poon Market is the original location of the Thipparot ice cream parlor that my parents frequented in their university years. Many family dinners at Vises Gaiyang, a classic cookshop restaurant at Bang Pho intersection. Got many home furnishings crafted at the shops on Wood Street (Pracha Rat Sai 1 Soi 24).

I lived in Bangkok for 7 years and truly miss this amazing city so I'm absolutely loving this channel and binge watching my way through the fantastic content. Great work, thank you so much Pat.
Thank you again Pat. Your presentation is the quintessential representation of the raw beauty of Bangkok and beyond. Watching your videos, like this one, the viewer becomes closer, feels the heat, smells the fragrance, tastes the street food, and reaches out to pet the cats like being there... you do Thailand the justice it deserves. Thank you.
I've been living in Tao Poon area since 2013. So many things have changed since then...Until 2016, the last stop of the MRT blue line was Bang Sue, near the old railway station. Almost 90% of the condos, here were built after the growth of the transport network in the area, which facilitated the connection to downtown Bangkok. A good place to live at reasonable rents away from the crappy tourist areas. Good job Pat!
I live (17 years) just north of you, a short moto-taxi ride to the Bang Sue Purple Line station. Pre-Covid I might bump into another foreigner maybe once every few months. Now I bump into them fairly often. Some are married to Thais. However, many found a "great" Airbnb close to the MRT providing "easy access to the city center". You can tell the tourists by the "where the heck am I" look! 😂😂😂
Thanks..🤟.I think I owe you a few hundred coffees though mate.. 🤫.. When over there one day I will clear my bill, until then keep putting your wonderful content on my tab..🙏👍
You sure know your way around Pat! It’s great to see you interact with other UA-camrs…Chai is awesome isn’t he? Thanks for sharing your wonderful & amazing video 😊

Great video as always patt, as I live on huai kwang I used to work in nonthaburi and used to get the boat from bang po to Watkhemapirataram. In the morning it was beautiful watching the sunrise on the river, I like the area and it is very accessible with its transport routes. Thanks again, maybe someday we can meet for a beer around bkk.
Another excellent video Pat. Thanks for covering subjects that are interesting for even (part time) Bangkok residents .I agree that the proximity to transport and the river will make Tao Poon quite desirable in coming years.
Finally got the time to sit down and watch this. Tao Poon looks like a really interesting area. Once the Purple line is finished, then it will make it very accessible.
THE CAR IS: A Mercedes Benz 170 SB. I would estimate early 1950's. Parts quite difficult to find but collector car for sure. They drove smooth as silk, like a heavy tank riding on marshmallows. No fuel economy, just confort was the idea.
Another nice and interesting video from the man -Bangkok Pat.Some great shots of Tao Poon and the neighbour hoods.Thank you for the the vid Good work.!
So good to see other areas of BKK covered...there is more to Bangkok than just Asok to Nana...have often asked myself what other areas there are that are residential..
Great video champion, always entertaining, the car looks like a 1953 Mercedes Benz 170DS it's the ansestor of the s class, it's worth quite a lot restored 😉
For similar price, I think Ha Yaek Ladprao is a more up and coming area with direct green line BTS to CBD, MRT intersection, big malls , night life scenes and large park. but yeah Ha Yaek Ladprao is up and coming in 5 years sure as some of the area are already developed and gentrified, but if you’re talking 5-10 years and are fond of river view then yes , I agree. Tao poon it is.
This area is really nice and another train line !!!!!!!! It’s so well connected to get around BKK . The prices will go up for sure now’s the time to get a place there Great vlog Pat 👏👏👏
Interesting Video about this area and good to see my mate @Expat Paul in there too. That bloppers in the end is funny. Thats one of the funny reality if you make UA-cam-Videos. Two, three or more tries for a scene :D
You forgot to mention were Tao poon is realy famous for. Its the center of woodcraft, and Whole sale , woodproducts in Thailand. There are hundreds of carpenters, between Pracha rat Sai 1 Soi 28 and soi 19. I let made my teak terrace furniture there.
I would move here in a heartbeat great location great transport and close enough to the river fantastic thankyou for feeding the 🐈 kitty im sure she appreciated the meal looked like she recently had a litter ❤
Thank you for doing a video in this area. I live in America but my family has a 7 story apartment building name Norrisa Apartments in a soi right across the street from Gateway. I've visited all the shops you featured in your video. As a teen in the 90s I would visit a Thai live Karaoke along the street and go right before they closed to save money and take the "singers" out for jok. Back then, there was not a Gateway Mall. There was a smaller mall called Balangpoo.
Thanks for another well presented video. I would happily visit Tao Poon for its markets, but honestly I do not warm to all those high rise condos, cement everywhere, and so on. Each part of Bkk seems all too familiar; there is not much variety in the architecture or the stores. Good that you can easily take boats from there, but no, I can't see myself living there. Thanks once again; you have a gift for interesting video presentations.

Interesting vlog Pat. I'd be happy living there, if I ever get to make the big move. Wonder if the cinema films are English that far out? Good point about the parks in the area. Not sure I'd want Paul as my banker, with his exchange rates lol. But if he lives there, he doesn't need to know I guess. Good leaving the edit at the end, the authentic touch.

That old car is a Mercedes Benz 170S…they were produced from 1949 til 1955. The S stands for “Sonder model” or special model.
The car looks like a Mercedes Benz 170 classic from the 1950s. Rare. Nice find!
The car in the old kindergarten, seems to be a old Mercedes Benz 170S.
