      So here's what I'm thinking based on What Mutton said: If he rated is a 3 for his personal rating, wouldn't he also rate it a 3 or possibly a 2 for what he think we would like? It's advertised as a cherry tobacco.... but yet there's very little cherry flavor. I would think people would then be disappointed in it.

    Easily one of my favorite aromatics. Always perfect moisture, easy to pack, easy to light and keep lit, tastes great and smells even better! This is one of the tobaccos that kept me coming back to my pipe when I first started out and was struggling to learn the art.

    🐍🐍🐍🐍 I'm admittedly new to pipe smoking. I smoked a pipe for a little while right out of high school when there wasn't anyone around to give advice or guidance like there is now. I kind of enjoyed it but had trouble and then gave it up for the better part of 20 years. I returned to the hoby in February on the encouragement of my wife and I'm trying lots of different tobaccos to see what I like. I greatly enjoy this one and on the advice of hobbiton Piper I have actually gotten a few friends to try a pipe with me using this tobacco. I'm curious to see if I continue to enjoy it or if I find other things I was really excited to see you review it.

    Opened my first tin just two days ago. Like you I was afraid that I’d find overwhelming artificial cherry, super sweet and a one and done. What I found was the best aromatic I’ve tried so far. My best taste analogy is high quality chocolate covered perfectly ripe Queen Anne cherries, not too sweet, not too tart, very Goldilocks in flavor. Smoked cool throughout the bowl, moisture level was perfect for me too, kept a light and burned to a fine ash with virtually no dottle. Exceeded all expectations and will be part of my regular rotation. MM Cobbit

    🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒 - This and Lane Very do head to head battles on my favorite cherry blend. I think this is a bit mellower and my wife actually will sit outside with me and enjoy the aroma on this one as well. Moisture out of 3 tins I have purchased has been great out of the tin. The flavor is very consistent amongst the 3 I had. It is one I keep in a much bigger mason jar and make sure I have it on hand at all times. Burns fairly cool and a great sipping tobacco especially combined with a Sonic Cherry Limeade. The drink doesn't make the tobacco better, but the tobacco makes the drink cherry really stand out crisp.

    Blood red moon is one of those blends that I wish I loved. The tin note and smoke both give me more cherry than chocolate and no matter how I smoke it, I always end up with more tongue bite than other blends (even aromatics) give me. If i really wanted a pipe and that was my only option, I'd still smoke it but it's definitely not really in my rotation.

    In the beginning times I used to buy my drugstore brand tobacco from Eckerd’s- in the days before tobacco was canceled they had a whole aisle advertised as the “tobacco place”- one of my first pipe tobacco was Middletons cherry blend smoked from a Dr.Grabow Duke pipe…I enjoyed it- the burley and Virginia masked much of the cherry flavor-next cherry blend was Boswell’s and I thought that was the cherry blend to beat but CBRM with cavendish is truly delightful- excellent room notes flavor and all around enjoyable. I went through this tin entirely too fast.

    Good to see you Muttnchop (the man who taught me how to smoke a pipe)! Cult Blood Red Moon smells just like a cherry Tootsie Roll lollipop! You definitely get an even notes of chocolate and cherry. Despite the sweet tin notes, in my experience, it cannot be smoked inside as it is extremely strong. But that doesn't mean it stinks. It's just very full bodied for an aromatic! Also, it has wayyy too much tongue bite! I have two tins of this stuff. I'll smoke it again one day, but I won't forget to take it slow. Thank you for doing this review! 🍒🍒🍒

    🍒🍒🍒 Finally got around to trying this one-I've been procrastinating. I've been sitting on a tin of this for nearly two years because, even though it had been recommended by a few people, I couldn't get past the sickly sweet smell out of the tin. As you can imagine, I didn’t expect to like this one, especially since I don’t typically enjoy aromatics, but I liked this one quite a lot. I picked up a lot more cherry than chocolate, but the chocolate was definitely there in the background. I’d smoke it again if I were in the right mood, and it's at top of the list of the aromatics I've tried. Like Muttnchop, I'd give it 🍒🍒🍒🍒 if aromatics were my thing.

    Always nice to be pleasantly surprised by one you might not necessarily like than one you expect to but don’t! So this is a beautifully done aromatic. I was looking forward to trying it. While I am not wild about cherry myself, it is not overbearing as Muttnchop said, which is the upside. Then the chocolate aspect from the burley/cavendish just compliments it perfectly. Smooth as can be though. Only reason for me not to give a 5 is that cherry is not my favorite of flavors, but I do like it. Enjoy!

    The tin note from this one is quite off putting to me. It smells artificial. Sweeteners are something that I have to pay particularly close attention to because the commonly used ones give me various allergic reactions. Sutliff in particular won't disclose what they use to sweeten their aromatics. When I contacted them and asked, the reply was simple: "Our aromatic tobacco products might not be for you." I appreciated their response.
    As an aside, aromatics weren't high on my list until I tried Boswell's Black Cherry. The tin note and room note is quite pleasant, reminiscent of a cherry cordial candy. The flavor appeals to me as well. It's my wife's favorite "beard note"... after a bowl of Boswell's Black Cherry I am the beneficiary of a long, snuggly hug. Any blends that my wife likes are in my permanent rotation.

    Not much of an Aro fan. There are a few I enjoy. Bob’s Chocolate Flake being #1. I’ve been wanting to try a cherry then this video came up and I remembered that 18-20 years ago I stashed a unopened pouch of, don’t laugh, Dutch Masters cherry cavendish, the smell reaked to hell and back so I stashed and forgot it. So today I dug it up from its grave and it still smells to high hell but I decided to try it in my less than favorite cob. Taste is actually kind of mild and can’t tell if I like it or can just tolerate it yet but interesting enough for me to try and remember to pick up some blm with next order. Thanks

    I just started piping in mid Jan. 2024. I gathered up numerous blends, including 8 cherry blends. One day I thought "why did I get so many Cherry blends to try when I don't know if I even like it?" So for two days I tried seven of the eight, because CULT - Blood Red Moon hadn't yet arrived. As I began sampling them I discovered I really do not like any of them. With the exception of Missouri Meerschaum's Great Dane being tolerable. But it isn't a full cherry blend. For it is said to be topped with: black cherries, vanilla, and caramel...and it needs drying. In fact, my 7oz tub of Paladin went into the trash. A few were slightly tolerable so I decided to hold on to those and try at a later date: Sillem's Red and P. Stokkebye's PS3 aren't too awful. So with that experience, and CULT - BRM arriving, I am hesitant to even crack one open. I just realized I haven't tried my 'Mac Baren: 7 Seas Red' yet as well. I went overboard with 8oz of each: PS3 and 7 Seas Red. If I hate those...there's a lesson to be learned; stop buying large amounts at first. So anyway, I am interested in your honest review today. What I have learned, since mid-January, is aromatics are seemingly more for those around the one enduring the smoking of them. They rarely give me any pleasure yet, but I do have a number of other aromatics to try still that are supposed to be very good. The latest arrival being two 3.5oz tins of Sillem's: Linea Epoque Antique.

    • @wtfserpico
      @wtfserpico 3 місяці тому +2

      If you end up liking LEA (my favorite fruit topped aro) I'd recommend Ashton: Guilty Pleasure.
      Also, for someone who has only been smoking for 2 months you sure seem to be ordering a MASSIVE volume of tobacco. You are free to do as you please, but I'd recommend, if you have the option, to order 1oz at a time in bulk and try things across the spectrum, not just aromatics, and not just flavors you think you'll like.
      It's a lot easier to get perspective on what you should be getting out of a tobacco flavor-wise when you have other blend types and styles to compare to. Also, keep in mind that it takes time to train your pallet to really pick out the distinct flavors of different toppings and components.

    • @Roh_Echt
      @Roh_Echt 3 місяці тому

      @@wtfserpico Right, I wanted to order blends broadly, and I have. I have, according to Smokingpipes, more than 200. Mostly because I want to buy now at today's price and for aging of blends with VA's in them. I've just mixed my own English blend, and I love it. I mixed 16oz of VA with 25% Latakia (6.7oz) and 15% Izmir Turkish (4oz) and moistened with OUZO (3 parts), Rum (1 part), and water (1 part); and it turned out really good. And cost but $2.46/oz. It would've cost quite a bit less except for 8oz of Latakia costing twice what 16oz of VA cost me. Back to the Cherry....it was just that one day when I thought "do I even like Cherry?" that I was inspired to just go ahead and try them. But I believe I rushed it. Since then, I have learned the importance of bowl packing for desired draw resistance. I now check the draw resistance of each pipe when empty. And then pack it to the point I feel the desired resistance, regardless of the packing method: pinch-by-pinch, roll-the-bowl, gravity, etc.. And I tamp when necessary to maintain the desired resistance. I find this gives me a cooler smoke and I can taste the blend much better. So I expect when I go through my Cherry blends again, to have a different experience than my first rush through them all.

      I just started trying to smoke a pipe also. I seem to be collecting a lot of different tobaccos, but in just the 2oz tins or 2oz of bulk. I figure that's enough to try in the beginning. I wanted to try some of the old codger blends but they seem to only sell them in 14oz tubs now.

    • @Roh_Echt
      @Roh_Echt 3 місяці тому

      @@InWithBothFeet Nice, "another rookie." I sort of did the same; in thinking I'll smoke the OTC/Codger blends while "the good stuff" gets some age on them. And yeah, they all do come in either 7oz or 14oz; most of them. The only one I do enjoy, and may restock, is Carter Hall. Now that I've learned proper packing I get a faint hint of whiskey flavor, but not much else, from Carter Hall. Most of the OTC Blends, acquired by STG, seemed to have something sprayed on them. Giving them a tart-like taste. Or maybe it's just me. Half & Half was OK, but: Granger _ Velvet _ Capt. Black _ Borkum Riff _ Sir Walter Raleigh (this one ruined my taste buds for two days, for a strong vinegar smell and taste, and SP was aware of it when I phoned them...making me wonder why then are they selling it) _ Paladin _ Amphora 5-Blend Sampler ... all did nothing for me. I've cut back on volume, no longer relying on "reviews," so to not overdo my stocking of a blend I may end up disliking. If I see one I may try, I buy one tin. Sometimes two if it is always selling out quickly.

    • @InWithBothFeet
      @InWithBothFeet 3 місяці тому +1

      @@Roh_Echt I got the Amphora sampler pack also, but that's in my house 4hrs away. The Black Cavendish from that pack is what I tried before I left on this trip. It was my second bowl. I still get nothing from the tobaccos as far as taste, I'm just trying to avoid a nic hit and the ash tray by staying with mild blends at this point while I try to get the mechanics figured out.

    I suppose this should be predicated with "I'm mainly a non-aromatic guy." I tried this one last year, and it wasn't my thing. I think it's mainly the cherry flavor. I found the flavoring to be unpleasant and overpowering. It ghosted my aromatic pipe worse than any other aromatic blend I've ever tried. It took 6-7 bowls of Autumn Evening before you couldn't taste the BRM anymore.

    🥵 Did not like this one at all. I'm pretty meh about most aromatics, but this one tastes like a cross between cough syrup, chemicals, and vague tobacco taste. So far I've found exactly three aro's that I can smoke: C&D John Marr, GLP Virginia Cream, and Sillem's Black. That's about it.

    🤮. The best thing about this blend is the tin art. That being said…. The tin note is wonderful. It reminds me of a cherry tootsie pop. The moisture level was perfect. I’m just not a fan of the blends flavor once lit. The chocolate really comes through and it’s not too bad, but the cherry flavor just does nothing for me. This would be a great one for fans of cherry, but to me it just didn’t live up to the hype. Happy smoking everyone! See ya in the comments on the next one 🤪

    🐒 I'm giving this one a One Monkey review. Mostly because I don't like aromatic or flavored tobacco of any kind and No. 2, I got talked into trying it once and genuinely didn't like it. Very wet, no tobacco flavors at all. Why smoke tobacco if you can't taste it? Just not for me.

    Pros: Excellent taste for fans of sweet aromatics. Perfect mixture of chocolate and cherry. Perfect moisture level. Easy to pack. Excellent aroma!
    Cons: The sweetness occasionally borders on syrupy and the cherry can be a bit intense for beginners..definitely not for the casual cherry connoisseur. Can be difficult to light and requires occasional re-lights.
    Overall, a good blend for those fans of cherry aromatics..and an enjoyable blend for the occasional dabbler looking for something sweet.

    I dont like aromatics so i have a heavy bias, but for kicks i tried it. I liked this blend for a few smokes, HUGE sweet chocolate/cherry flavor, not like smoking hot steam like most aro's, but still not full bodied. sweet room note, But it is still the typical thick, goopy, super heavy cased aromatic. Oh, and talk about ghosting a pipe, this is all you will taste in that pipe till the end of time, seriously. Choose your pipe wisely.
