The MCU movies raised the bar really high. The Ed Norton Hulk is one of the best CGI productions ever, the muscle ripple effects were way over the top, and the Hulk doesn't have to look like Bruce according to the comics, even though he looks a little bit like Norton (at least it was based on his face).

The Hulk 2003 animation blew everyones minds at the time. I remember him breaking out of the storage tank flipping water everywhere and that was just amazing.
That saturated green from 2003's Hulk feels almost like they felt compelled to match the tone of Lou Ferrigno's Hulk because that was what the original Hulk movie went with.
The 2008 one did that too but much more subtly. When Abomination has him pinned against the wall you see Hulk’s eyes flash green and he begins to overpower Abomination when he couldn’t before. He doesn’t necessarily grow but he definitely got more powerful with his anger.
I'm disabled and this series has really helped keep me sane in the hospital! I don't do VFX but I love movies and I do sound design. Corridor Digital was a staple of my highschool life, it's awesome to see how far yall have come
For better or worse- I think it was entirely just an "esthetic" choice to make the hulk look like he does in the comics. So many choices were made in this movie to give it a "this is a COMIC MOVIE" feel- and i have little doubt this color choice for the hulk was no different.
Definitely works of art! The scene when all the avengers are on the aircraft carrier with Fury and Loki's staff to the transition into the action scene when hulk shows up really drove this concept home for me. I love how they built tension off of the hulk being on the craft, perfect storytelling, and artistry in those movies.
I think it is going to be their best video as all Spider-Man sequels were praised for their visual effects. It is going to be tough to decide which is best.
I sure hope they do a video reacting to the CGI of the Sam Raimi Original Spider-Man trilogy. I been requesting it since the summer of 2019 but I have not given up on them because yeah their a lot of movies out there. I seen a lot of interesting and shocking stuff since I been watching this channel and also I requested they react to the stunts in the chariot racing scene from the 1959 Ben-Hur movie and they finally react to it last week
Heh, they knew how the cow looked like, and just went along with it: still properly filmed, and the real "prop" version perfectly matches the cgi version as well. The rest of the VFX were pretty much composition only, but Id say 96% seamless
The fact that Clint hasn't seen the Avengers films and is a VFX artist blows my mind lol The MCU has such a high standard for their VFX and there's a lot to learn from there!
He also hadn't even seen Davey Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean either, which is just baffling to me lol. That's some of the best CGI in any film. It's not like PoTC is an obscure movie either.
There's an argument to be made on Hulk's skin tone in Ang Lee's film. In that film his skin is biolumicent, so it isn't just reflecting or absorbing light, but also emitting it.
The “Walking with Dinosaurs” documentary series has some interesting CG. When it came out, I remember loving it but rewatching on Netflix made me realise how bad it is by today’s standards.
Not as good model wise but animation wise, it's incredible. Literally the most realistic dinosaurs ever animated. Perfect mix of weight and natural movement
@@B1998-u6i All animated frame-by-frame I believe, no keyframe interpolation at all! The behind the scenes documentary talks about how they studied other creatures like elephants to get a rough guess for the locomotion of the land-based dinosaurs, but pretty much had to wing it for the pterosaurs (no pun intended) and the ones in the sea.
Yeah! I just been rewatching parts of it recently, and it is very interesting to see, how much simpler CG was at the time. There are sketchy overlaid shadows, very crude masking and even moments, where parts of dinosaurs clip through each other. But all things considered, it still holds pretty well. The interaction with real-life objects like trees and splashes of water, which were made practically, is particularly incredible. And to think that the whole series with VFX in almost every shot was made on a budget of a TV documentary in an era, where CG was still pretty rare. Just awesome.
I still like the 2008 hulk like way more than any other, hes just the definition of angry, i grew up with that movie because my neighbour gave it to me when i was like 5, i loved the movie and watched it like every day, my parents got so annoyed bc of me constantly asking to buy me a Hulk toy till they found it at some chinese shop, i still have that toy
2003 = Accurate, but too green and sad looking mostly. 2008 = The angriest, but poor CG muscles and face. 2012 = More accurate, but Ruffalo's face. Lol
I honestly would trade the actor-based hulk for the 2008 bulky hulk. I love it when the hulk is on a rampage and just being hulk, and what they did in Infinity War and Endgame was unacceptable for me

I cant recall if they did already, but.. Id love to see a comparison between all the alien movies and their transition from practical to digital effects.
That part where bee transforms and throws sam outside and somersault and then grab him transform and put him inside at the end of the chase still melts my brain. I can't even describe that shot properly.
Any of the old Godzilla movies would be interesting to see on this show, they might not have had computer effects in them, but there is still a lot of things to talk about, and there's still the more recent ones that has a lot of elements to be talked about. Have a good day!
I still found the first Hulk to be respectful to the comics. Had the ferocity. The movie have him mass and power. He felt like a beast and it gave a great representation of the internal fight between Banner and Hulk. Showcasing them as two identities trying to control one host
Here’s an idea for a future Corridor Digital video: do a Kung Pow: Enter the Fist style video. Grab footage from an old movie, paint out one or more of the characters, insert yourselves into the footage, and add voice over dialogue to create your own story. It would be a great opportunity to use the new feature in After Effects that automatically paints out parts of the footage.
The visual affects for the mcu just continues to blow my mind there so good and these artists who work on them do have to work hard so I do give a lot of credit to them
Hey, guys. Love your work and your vids, big fan. Just a note that the audio drops out of sync at 07:21, seems like there's a video clip missing between the end of the Kung Pow review and the start of the Hulk review.
Man, there was something enchanting watching those Ang Lee’s Hulk clips. He really did look more present in each scene. Much was in daytime. His animation was quicker, like his strength lent to his speed.
Poor Clint's knowledge of Hong Kong action cinema doesn't get appreciated enough. Wren & Niko most likely haven't seen the majority of the movies he shows in Stuntmen React.
Could not agree more, the entire infinity saga is a work of art! Clint needs to watch it! I’ve never seen 22 movies (and now the disney+ shows) meld together with such precision, it truly is amazing.
I agree with you. Norton's Hulk looked like a legitimate Hulk of a person. Ruffalo's Hulk consistently looks like a comic book creation brought to life as best as possible with the abilities of modern technology. Ruffalo's Hulk truly does look like Ruffalo moreso than Bana and Norton, but Norton's still feels like there might actually be something there in front of the camera.
Also the thing about Ruffalos hulk being the first to be like the actor doesn't seem true, you can clearly see Eric Bana's facial shape in the first hulk. It' s not 1 to 1 but its got his unique features
I was 12 when Kung Pow came out, and it was one of my favorites as a teenager. The work they did on that behind the scenes is still absolutely incredible
I can't believe someone just we made a movie with the simple idea just to replace one or a few characters with themselves and basically have the rest of the movie as normal. That's some dedication right there and it's totally worth it
@@TheTrueDoomSlayer I don't really think there have been any other movies that tried this style. I mean look at how many views the guy who edits his cat into movie scenes gets lol
When people complain about the saturation of the green from hulk 2003, I always laugh because these people have never read a comic book where hulk is literally one shade of bright green. And trying to make hulk's color "realistic" tells me these people must think theres a real life hulk somewhere that they are somehow basing their color saturation concerns from. A hulk cryptid... maybe its in argentina or something
I'm not sure if you've done this one yet, but the CGI in the 2014 live action "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" haunts my dreams and I need someone to validate my fear lol
It was cool to see all the Hulk models in one string like that; it does show how far the tech has come over time. We could have only dreamed of movies like this back in the 80s.

That movie makes a comeback in your future.
The 2008 one did that too but much more subtly. When Abomination has him pinned against the wall you see Hulk’s eyes flash green and he begins to overpower Abomination when he couldn’t before. He doesn’t necessarily grow but he definitely got more powerful with his anger.

If I were to guess, the reason 2003's Hulk is so saturated is because Ang Lee wanted it to represent how radioactive Hulk was.
Exactly, and so I he were subtly giving off radiation, it would change the way the light played on him.
which is why it's still the best representation of the hulk. Plus Bana is a fking beast.

For better or worse- I think it was entirely just an "esthetic" choice to make the hulk look like he does in the comics. So many choices were made in this movie to give it a "this is a COMIC MOVIE" feel- and i have little doubt this color choice for the hulk was no different.

I seen a lot of interesting and shocking stuff since I been watching this channel and also I requested they react to the stunts in the chariot racing scene from the 1959 Ben-Hur movie and they finally react to it last week
They should compare Spider-Man 3 to Spider-Man 2 to Spider-Man 2 since those were the most artistic of each series.

There's an argument to be made on Hulk's skin tone in Ang Lee's film. In that film his skin is biolumicent, so it isn't just reflecting or absorbing light, but also emitting it.
The incredible Hulk was just dehydrated and down to like 5% bodyfat.

The “Walking with Dinosaurs” documentary series has some interesting CG. When it came out, I remember loving it but rewatching on Netflix made me realise how bad it is by today’s standards.
Good idea for them to react.
