I bought one about 9 months ago as well, still works good as new. It's made from a base ps5 controller so it will last exactly as long as your average controller. The only issue I have with it is I have to absolutely baby it. Because I know once I break it or it develops stick drift the warranty is void and i need to buy a whole new controller, a whole new remap kit and do it all over again. Also $50 is the price of the remap kit, a controller is $80+ so you're really spending $130+ on a controller. Also given the fact that most PS5 controllers can be replaced for $10 under warranty, it makes it a much riskier deal. You can always spend the $100ish more on a controller with a warranty, so that there's the option of replacing the controller once it breaks.
@@Smith000006Oh awesome, I didn't know that you could desolder it lol. I was always under the impression the whole kit is trash once the controller starts to drift too much haha. My stick drift is starting to get worse on the controller, so I'll 100% give it a shot at some point in the future. Thanks for the info!
I'll just concur someone else's reply and say you can definitely move this kit to a different controller after soldering it. Just locate the three points on the controller to which the cables in the kit were soldered, then heat the solder point until the solder melts, and you can simply pull the cable off that point. Make sure to only pull very gently, so that the cable doesn't get damaged, and it should very easily realease when the solder melts. Do this with each point. The kit can then be soldered to a different controller.
You're so right about scuff... The quality is so so bad and the customer service was equally atrocious... They wanted me to pay to fix a basically brand new controller that had been treated very well, that had stick drift and broken buttons within 2 months... The controller cost me $450 ffs!!
Interested in buying the medal ones because soon on sept 9th it is my birthday. I heard the medal ones are more durable than the other ones. Is that accurate and how is the response time on the paddles? Is it close to being mouse clikc or like a normal press from a button on the ps5 controller.
I would say that if you get the new 4-button version, the paddles themselves are closer to controller button as the have some distance to pull, but then the two buttons have a really short travel so they are a little more like a mouse button. but the metal buttons are durable and feel great, but I've also been rocking the plastic ones for a long time and no issues. Both are great but if it were me, I'd get the metal ones.
I got one of these about 8 months or so ago. I proceeded to try and turn on the controller and it had no response. I took it off my controller and put it back together the way it originally came and then the controller started to work again.
This happened to me, too, with my new controller and I had one of the ribbon cables backwards and so it was completely non-responsive but then I contacted support with some photos and showed me I missed following the instructions for the ribbon cable and then it worked perfectly.
I just ordered an updated one, i think i tried to use it on a newer controller and it wasn’t compatible. I am giving it one more chance today but if i have problems i will definitely contact support!
I bought one of these months ago and it broke my controller I rlly want paddles but I dont want to risk breaking my controller again for some extra buttons
These look nice, but I have 0 confidence in my ability to open up my controller to install this. I wish there was a unit you could just attach directly onto the PS5 controller. Wouldn't feel as good, but easy process. I bought a paddle unit for my PS4 controller a while back and they work great, literally just plugs right in, and it's super secure. The new dualsense edge controller is coming out soon, it has paddles already on it, it's a pretty sweet controller. But it's $200. Knd of expensive, but that's my only other option it seems. I'd be willing to pay someone to install those paddles on my controller, but I don't know anyone that would.
@@itzag8408 I had one and they are 1000000000% worth it. I got the 2 paddles without knowing about the 4 and loved the 2 paddles. I am getting the 4 paddles soon
