For everyone asking about the time signature, its in 7/4 (or 7/8, doesnt really matter). There's a 2/4 polymeter thing going on with the drums so the backbeat is flipped every other measure. Additionally, they throw in a 2/3 polyrhythm with with the drums and bass starting at 1:22, which is isolated at 3:23

Wow that's crazy! I really only knew about the 7/4, and even then since I started listening to King Gizzard 7/4 doesn't jump out at me like it used to, it just sounds normal lol. Very cool thanks for sharing :)

Kinda does matter, it’s just 7/4. 7/8 would sound twice as fast, or you’d have to say the tempo is really slow.
I used to feel the same about 7/4and 7/8 and still do, but then I also make mistakes in DAWs like having to bump up to tempo to 240 something just cuz all my melodies were in 7/4 which I wanted in 7/8
they didn’t need any dystopian visuals this time around cause the worlds already a dystopia

I only got into this band at the start of this pandemic. Since buying their album murder of the universe (the first album I bought of theirs) I have picked up 11 more and started playing the guitar again. I fuckin love this band. It's so good. So different. Fuckin eh! Nothing but love from this 🇨🇦

My wife and I saw them live without ever hearing about them at all. They were a headliner on one of the three knights of a festival near l.a . It was one of the most MAGICAL, AND IMPACTFUL experiences of my life . We were sitting in the sand feeling very good and very trippy . The lake Paris was to our right , it looked a bit like glass . We were holding hands and giggling like children. I will never forget that punch in my soal. I love this band ,they never disappoint.

@@how8765 yes it could. Not saying it is, but it could. Good EQ'ing and amplification can go a long way into making an acoustic bass guitar sound electric. See Washburn's AB series and how many people have used it in such contexts. Also, they could've gone this route instead of a full-blown upright bass simply because doing microtonal stuff in one of these (that actually sounds good) is insanely hard.

So amazing! I've been reminiscing on my favorite live shows now that they're out of the question for the foreseeable future. I saw King Gizz in Boston a few years back at the Royale and got to photograph them from the pit while my ribs were being crushed against the stage (no barrier). One of the best nights of my life.
Life got maximum shitty this year, but here comes honey for ears.
