I deliver the bulletins to 3 churches. At the last church, we sadly have the doors locked, but I turn on my phone and have done the Stations of the Cross. Ten years ago my husband, youngest daughter and I were in a car accident. As we were in the ambulance I looked at my daughter and saw she was wearing her wooden cross necklace. It gave me a calming sense of peace reminding me Christ was with us and we survived with minimal injuries.

I just watched a documentary on Mother Teresa and learned that her order’s “mission statement” is “I thirst”. It was stated that their interpretation is that Jesus was not requesting water but stating his thirst for souls. This is in the song that Janelle sang for us today. Whether Jesus was thirsting for love or souls or loving souls is definitely a beautiful reflection. Thank you for these Lenten reflections.

At our Lenten mission they shared that “I thirst”could also represent the conclusion of pass over. When Jesus celebrated pass over he possibly did not drink the 4th cup of wine but did upon the cross when given vinegar (vinegar=wine sour) to drink. In the garden, he ask “let this cup pass” and after drinking vinegar “it is finished”. I thought this was very interesting 🤔

Four years ago I was in Medjugorge and was praying the sorrowful mystery of the rosary in front of a cross with 2other people when I heard an inner voice 'I THIRST' I continued praying the rosary a second time I heard an inner voice again 'I THIRST' still continued praying finished the rosary and then went for lunch with my friends on my way to the evening Mass in Medjugorge as I went to find a seat for the mass I again heard an outer voice again 'I THIRST" I Said to my friend Emily did you say "I THIRST" she said no then I realised it was Jesus saying it. I spoke to a priest in confession after mass and he told me my mission was to save souls. Lord not my will be done but yours.. I love you Jesus with all of my heart my soul Jesus increase my faith.Amen.

I remember reading Brant Pitre's the Jewish roots of the eucharist and believe he equated the thirst with the final cup of the four cups used at passover and the cup of Elijah. After taking it and he utters the final words "its finished"

Your grandmother must have been a woman filled with faith for our Lord. She may have had the memory of her father in mind when she repaired the broken arms. The fact that this crucifix has been passed on to you and your family is so personal and touching. The words you spoke about your grandmother trying to repair the damage done to the corpus was her devotion in trying to mend Jesus' broken body spoke very deeply to me.
The crucifix in our living room is very large and was a gift to us from an Oblate priest from Berens River. It, too, was broken and repaired. May we all recognize our brokenness - sinfulness and see Christ crucified taking on all our sins for our redemption.

Last week, a lady in our Bible study accidentally pricked herself with a sewing needle. She said she 'suffered' all day until...until...she went to Adoration. Where she gazed upon the Crucifix, while Adoring she realized she hadn't suffered at all. ✝️
