When a preacher named Jesus began performing miracles and attracting large crowds, Caiaphas became worried. Many believed Jesus was the Messiah.
Caiaphas was concerned that Jesus' popularity could provoke the Romans and threaten his own position of authority. When he saw crowds cheering for Jesus as he entered Jerusalem, Caiaphas felt compelled to take action. Caiaphas was a Sadducee not a true Son of Aaron Levitical Kohanim Priest! This is another reason Yeshua came to the earth, not only to become the final atonement for the sins of all people, but to expose the self righteous Pharisees and Sadducees that were ruling the Jews with fear and condemnation. He was a part of the "Brood of Vipers" Yeshua warned the people about. Then yet Yeshua prays on the Cross, " Father please forgive them for they know not what they do."
