thx for the vid ryan, easy to follow. installed this and the berleypro handle this weekend to the boondox rudder on my slayer10...HUGE improvment.
Awesome man
Good instructional video. I don't have a native but if my Pelican cables ever wear out I can use some of this to help with that. Thanks for sharing with us.
Thanks for watching. You could definitely use some of the tips .
Crazy that after market parts have to be purchased to allow those yaks to perform the way they should . Berely Pro to the rescue
Thanks for watching . I totally agree . These kayaks are to expensive to have bad components when it comes to steering
@@HooKSetzWithRyan it's funny that Jackson had similar issues as well. I think they finally made their upgrades stock.
That's a silly thing to say. the kayak works fine there called upgrades. so, you think it's crazy when you have to fix or upgrade your vehicle? you want a vehicle that you don't need to ever fix or upgrade parts on lol. it's the same as anything you buy.
I have a Native.don’t get offended just pointing out the obvious. I bet you haven’t changed the steering on that Hobie and yes I had. PA 14 too. Upgrading the steering is a must on the native water crafts. Anyway, it’s just my opinion, you have a good day. Good luck this season.
I’ve always wondered how to replace the cables in the event they get worn out or frayed. Super simple solution using the braid as a chaser wire. Great information.
Easy peazzy. Thanks for watching josh
I just got a Max 10 and this will be my instructional video for my new rudder upgrade. Thanks man. 👊
Thanks for watching buddy. Slayer max is a great boat
thanks so much for your help brother. Installed mine today.
Awesome upgrade!!
Great video my friend big 👍
Nice video! Question: How far do you need to turn your handle left or right to get the rudder to fully turn to the side?
I just put the new T-Lock Steering on my Max today (already had the handle), and I need to turn the handle like 180 degrees for the full turn. Doesn't seem right to me...
Just installed on my max tonight!
how was it?
@@thereelaccountant9246 man the response from the upgrade is amazing
@@Dibkill I got mine on the way! Was the install a pain? Seems like it isn't the worst
@@thereelaccountant9246 bro, it wasn’t bad at all. It can be done in just a little amount of time. I had way less than an hour involved in it
@@Dibkill that's great to hear! Just wasn't sure how bad it was running the new chord. Sounds good
Having issues getting the cord run thru my slayer. Seems the tubing is too small but maybe diameter reduce where tubing was turned over. Thinking maybe wallow it out a bit. Any suggestions? I see in video yours went straight thru so curious. Thanks
Thanks for watching. I would recommend shaping the ends of the new rudder cable by using a lighter and heat up or burn the ends to shape the ends of the new Berley pro rudder line . This will make it easier to get in the tubing . Mine was tight but was able to work it in the tubing . Hope this helps . Message if you have any other questions . Tight lines
Hey Ryan just one question. Did the original cables operate properly with the Berley Pro handle you upgraded to? I'm about to install the handle today.
Thanks for stopping by. The handle worked great with the original rudder cable . No problems at all . The only thing the steering upgrade does is make the kayak turn better . Let me me know if you have any other questions. Tight lines 💯🙏🏻🎣
Great video. I just used it to install my berley pro. I have a question. My rudder is hit on both sides when I turn the rudder. I am the second owner. And this is a new hull. Would you have any recommendations to fix it from rubbing?
Thanks for watching. The slayer max did have issues with hull shape flaw. My slayer never had this issue but I would reach out to native and see what they could do for you.
Is this a slayer propel max 12.5? The berley pro website doesn’t mention that kayak specificity for this kit and I’m wondering if it’ll work on it. BP6022
Yes it will work on it . Thanks for watching
How did that handle hold up before the stearing up grade because i have the handle but not the other stuff but my handle turnd before my ruder does and then it catches i thought my cables where loose but they're not
Thanks for watching. I had no problems with my handle before the steering upgrade. Double check to make sure the rudder line going to your handle is setup properly .
What did u use to shave down those two black posts on the original plate?
Dremel
So I see that it helps you turn better. Does it do anything for tracking or no? Or would you have to just get the upgraded rudder with the drop down skeg?
Thanks for watching . It definitely helps for turning , but no better tracking . From my experience it seems the longer the kayak the better tracking . Hope this helps
@@HooKSetzWithRyan appreciate it
I see you have 2 yaks. I'm looking at those two same yaks. Of the hobie and native which would you prefer?
Thanks for watching. (1) Tell me what type of water you fish , lakes, , grass lakes , lakes with docks , rivers , ponds, inshore salt and ocean fishing
(2) tell me your weight , height
I will tell you which one .
There both awesome kayaks but ones better
In certain conditions.
I need this for my native
Thanks for watching . I would highly recommend it.
I watch all your videos maybe I'll run into you at Santee March 6th
Hey Ryan, I just installed a Torqeedo 403ac on my new Slayer Max 10 with it in fixed position, not tied to my rudder cable drum. The steering is not great; wishy washy. I'm wondering if I should install the new handle, the new steering kit and, perhaps, a new Boonedox rudder. Any thoughts?
Thanks for watching. I highly recommend the handle before your stock one breaks. The steering upgrade is optional but if you want better turning I’d do it . Also they do not have a upgrade rudder at this time for the slayer max . Only the titan series has available upgrade rudder . Tight lines

Thanks Ryan. It turns out they don’t have the handle for the Max 10 yet
Did you order directly through berley pro website and how long did it take to arrive?
Thanks for watching. I would see if any dealers in the USA has it first. Then last resort I would order at Berleypro . It takes a little longer from Berleypro cause of it comes from Australia . I don’t want to tell you the specific shipping time but at least 3 to 4 weeks
@@HooKSetzWithRyan everywhere locally is out of stock. And thank you for commenting back.
Hey man I just purchased a slayer max 10 and my seat doesn't look like that!!! Lol is that the titan seat and how donu mode it like that
Thanks for watching. They changed the seat base so its different.
Is that a slayer max 12 ? Maybe that's why mine is diff ibhave the ten
Can I upgrade to that?
@@dwaynofishing5192 possibly. I would reach out to native watercraft to ask .
@@dwaynofishing5192 yes mine is a slayer 12.5 max .
Is it compatible with Max10?
Thanks for watching . I’m pretty sure the kit is universal . I will message you shortly to confirm this
@@HooKSetzWithRyan thx
@@spurss7478 the steering upgrade is compatible
So why didn't you show how much of a difference it makes on the water? Felt like I watched a movie and just before the very end, the credits started rolling.
Thanks for watching. So I said that if your just fun fishing no need to get it but if your competing in tournaments it would help you lol . It does make a difference though with the steering. Plus it’s better quality components than the stock cables
