8:17 If you're having trouble with oppressors, power attacking them can be a great tool as they are 50% weak to melee damage for whatever reason, INCLUDING THE FRONT! Power attacking doesn't care about armor so you can run up, power attack its face, vault over it, and hit its weakpoint a few times before it turns around. This all comes without much danger since oppressors don't do that much damage on their own and are more a support/tank/diversion for other bugs. Or you could just power attack 3 times with berzerker (6 if you don't take serrated edge on the pickaxe because you are a doofus or a Scout) and it'll go down, maybe needing 1 or 2 more bullets at the highest hazards.
btw rail can shoot through walls, especially with the mole overclock, so you can save your teammates from leeches/grabbers from another side of the terrain since you can see the red outline (or you know,, sneaking a few shots onto the glyphid spy)
'A stain on the floor', huh. I've heard that one a lot. And she was.. shooting the bugs directly with cryo minelets. 8:51 It's hard to refute this claim. I will advise you that on the defense section of salvage ops, it's crucial to take full advantage of the size of the defense sphere. Both the uplink and fuel cells love to spawn in fucked up little spots next to walls, but a driller can easily carve out the approximate radius of the zone to give the team more room to work with - a significant number of deaths during that sequence were due to your fuel cell defense zone basically being a small line between the cave wall and the drop pod, where you literally had to jump onto the resupply just to jump over the bugs rather than being able to circle around them. A larger area means less density of enemies for the same amount of spawns, so you're taking less hits regardless of where you are (unless you're standing still, but don't do that). That, and I don't know if Salvo Module is the best pick. Stationary defenses like salvage, particularly on higher hazard levels (or those missions where the game just randomly decides to spawn double the normal amount of bugs), need sustainable fire rates, something Salvo sacrifices for its burst damage - it's not a bad overclock, it's just something that in this situation would be best alongside sustained damage, which I suppose your drillers were providing before the environment got to them.
Unwarranted advice: in that final section where Alex got downed and knocked away if that downed player isn't a gunner or scout they should probably use IW and get back in the game by grabbing some health and heading for zone ASAP. A Driller or Engi is going to have a much harder time clutching if the other 3 go down as they don't have the mobility or shield to guarantee a revive on another dwarf. It can be better to use IW early if it means keeping more dwarves alive and in the zone. This is of course dependent on many factors but simply put if you're out of the action and probably won't be able to clutch if the other 3 go down, use IW before shit hits the fan. I think I would have used mine in-between the 10:09 -10:11 cut and ideally used the IW invulnerability to get back in the zone with some health. Even if you don't IW early(as an out-of-zone area driller/engi), as Alex was completely out of the action his IW should have been used first(if anyone can be reached and revived before his IW expires) to at least ensure he is close enough to be revived and re-enter the action if someone else uses IW in the future. Just my perspective, I don't have as much knowledge as Alex did in the moment but if engi/driller is downed far from zone, scout can't/won't revive them, and things look dicey: pop a premature IW and try to keep every dwarf active.
I know this is kind of unrelated, but In my 100 hours of DRG I'm happy to say I've only really encountered toxic """teammates""" about three times. And I mean downing your teammates and being an overall elf-lover kind of toxic. Not the occasional braindead scout with an overloaded sense of self worth *while not even using their flares.*
I wonder if that mission would've went better if gunner had a minigun and driller had a sludge pump to not friendly fire in an area where all the teammates need to gather and stay
I personally hate elimination missions cuz having to deal with multiple random boss spawns and easily over 10 bulk dets in a haz 3 mission (and from my knowledge no mods either) does something to someone after like 5 other missions that you failed and went the same way that one went oh and also there was almost no nitra either.
The salvage was lost cause u didnt have space. Your driller should clear (preferably with c4s if he has carve on them) the walls, and ur engineer should plat a bit high above ur head if he had repellant. Salvage is very easy if u do ur prep work
I don't generally have trouble with salvage missions, but the game always seems to throw some bs at me right at the end, like 2 goddamn swarmer waves when I am playing a NORMAL MISSION with NO MUTATORS.
salvage missions are truely hell on earth i hate big robot boss and all but you atleast get to move around and its gets intense on salvage you can stay inside and die or go out of the zone and die anyway fuck this mission, only saving grave is cool open cave generation usually.
