Islamic Conquest and the Arab Period (638-1099 CE): With the Islamic conquest of Jerusalem in 638 CE, the city became an important center of Islamic learning and culture. While Jews were allowed to live in the city, they were subject to Islamic rule and taxation.
Crusader Period (1099-1187 CE): During the Crusades, the city was conquered by Christian crusaders, who expelled many Jews and Muslims from the city.
Mamluk and Ottoman Periods (1187-1917 CE): The Mamluks and later the Ottomans ruled Jerusalem, and while Jews were allowed to live in the city, they were subject to various restrictions and expulsions.

Jerusalem
Jerusalem is a contested city, with both Israelis and Palestinians claiming it as their capital. Israel has annexed East Jerusalem, which is home to many Palestinian residents, and has built settlements in the city. The Palestinian Authority claims East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state.

Quran 2:65: “And you [the Jews] were expecting that they would believe you, even though a faction of them used to hear the Word of Allah, then they used to change it knowingly after they understood it, and they knew.”
Quran 4:46: “And if you [the Jews] dispute, then the judgment is for Allah. He is the most knowledgeable of the servants.”
Quran 5:41-44: “O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is one of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.”
Quran 5:63-64: “And if they [the Jews] say, ‘We are believers in Allah and the Messenger,’ then they have spoken truthfully, and they will be rewarded with a double portion of their deeds, but they will not be treated unjustly. Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers a painful punishment.”
Quran 6:92: “And indeed, We have created many of the jinn and mankind for Hell. They have hearts, but they do not understand. They have eyes, but they do not see.”
