The Mega Arms/Hodge Wedge Lock were machined out of extruded billet 7075 aluminum instead of the typical 6061, and also came with a titanium barrel nut, which is much stronger than any aluminum alloy. Since he sold Mega to Zev, Mike Miller (who invented the Wedge Lock rail) teamed up with Rick Olsen of Killer Innovations to start Icon Defense, where he dropped the successor design to the Wedge Lock, known as the Drive Lock, which is easily the strongest MLOK rail on the market currently. It also comes with a titanium barrel nut, and is being used by SOLGW as their “M89” rails. Super robust & ergonomic with top tier fit & finish.
RIS3 is the most rigid mlok handguard that accepts an M203. Otherwise it is overhyped. If you are not mounting an M203 there are plenty of handguards that are in fact more rigid than the RIS2/3.
LaRue makes the best in my opinion.. and they are on big sale right now at Optic planet..even the 14.5 very rare quad rails. I agree that the hanguard make the rifle. truly.. i am a LaRue fan .. i think they rock better than geissle., bu ti am also big fan of your channel , soo its all good! keep rocking
They're not bad but my MK8 actually cracked near the barrel nut and I legitimately have no idea why it cracked. Geissele CS was excellent though, they let me swap it for a MK16 and even offered me any color I wanted. I was so taken aback by their willingness to help me out I just asked for black even though I wanted tan lmao. No regrets though, the MK16 so far hasn't cracked(and I've used it way more) and its more ergonomic.
It's decent in that regard, but I have noticed that it'll get pretty hot if I mag dump a few mags really fast suppressed. I've never burnt my hand on it, though.
@ alright cool. My only experience is psa, Leapers’s and another one that is similar i can’t remember the name at the moment and like 3 mags of just plinking its like ridiculously hot!
@ second question what’s a decent suppressor for 300 blk that’s right around $300-500? I’m thinking about getting a pin and weld upper in hopes to running a can but don’t want to get a mounting system for something that I will never afford
Ugh, mlock is LAME! Nothing attaches like picatinny and nothing gets the cougars wet like gwot stank son. DD Ris2 for the win, KAC quad for the drip, LMT quad rail for the ima take yo betch
Geissele mark8 or any Geissele handguard is not even CLOSE to being the best handguard. Best at what exactly? Rigidness? Nope, that is PROBABLY LMT monolithic upper/handguard combo. Or even POF-USA P415 handguard that secures into the upper reciever. There are definitely other hanguards with more mlok slots so it is not the best at that either. So really it is just the best in your own head.
@sawtoothtactical404 and I am Literally telling you your opinion is wrong. .....Further when speaking it is redundant to say "in my opinion"...the words are coming out of your mouth we know it is YOUR OPINION!
I totally prefer M-Lok to picatinny as my "lego platform"👍 In fact, I saw a hand guard that had M-Lok every 45 degrees and no picatinny, and I am totally tempted.🫡 🤣🤣 I actually have two multi-cal lowers I have not yet decided on application, I am totally looking at the available M-Lok hand guards to determine whether a pistol or a rifle.👊
Glad you mentioned the diagonal M-Lok slots, I have my light in the exact same place on my Mk 8 14.5 and looks/feels great there.
Yeah. I think it's such a nice, clean way to mount your light.
I like the idea of getting away from the picatinny rails, but still be able to attach accessories.
And my obsession with the MK8 Rail continues. (That and the ADM Lower Receiver is the reason I subbed in the 1st place during your build series)🎯
Those two parts go together very nicely!

Yes indeed 👍🏽

YOu can get the M89 with a steel nut also, that's what mine came with. The rail is really nice though. It feels sturdy as fuck.
Yeah. That's a nice handguard, too!
I upgraded my SPR with one of those rails, bombproof is a good way to describe them. I just wish they came tanodized.
daniel defense lock up i think is the best. i cant go wrong with the way the ris ii iii attach

Yeah. My RIS II is solid. That's my other favorite handguard.
I see I'm not the only one who shops at the NRC Firearms Website.👍🏽
Their stock photo looked perfect for the MK16 example.
I like my BCM mcmr handguard with m-lok all the way but have never tried a Guissele. .
The BCM MCMR is a really good handguard!
The MCMR is the most comfortable.

That's awesome that they took care of you. I think I'll probably use the MK16 on my next build, actually. I love that handguard, too.
I have that handgaurd to
Is that a IWI weapon?
Nope. It's just a custom build that I put together myself.
But does it mitigate heat? Burning my hands is not fun

Have you seen the rail flex tests? Even the LMT mono showed significant shift
