In this video I will demonstrate how I change the oil in my Onan 4000 RV generator. Its recommended that the oil be changed every 100 hours to maintain optimal performance.
The recommended oil is 10w30 weight for moderate climates. The manual recommends the Onan brand but I use GTX motor oil and find that it works equally as well.
***Note: Autozone provides used engine oil recycling so, to dispose of the used oil, I take it to the nearest Autozone store and drop off.

I have seen a lot of videos on utube about this generator and it is for me a little confused because each one recommends different kinds of oil, I live in Florida. Is this the kind of oil that I should use?

I’ve been using this oil for both hot and cold temperatures here in Pennsylvania and it’s been fine. I think as long as you change it every 100hrs with new air filoit will be fine in Florida.
