    If I haven’t got time/energy to defuse my hair or I know I’ve weighed it down with too much product, I plop/scrunch it with re-usable kitchen roll (like Plenty) which comes in big sheets. It’s so absorbent and doesn’t make it frizzy at all.

    I have very fine curls. On my wash days I glaze a strong gel like curlsmith or ouidad and sleep with a silk pillow case. On day 2 I do nothing but day 3 I refresh with little bit on certain areas.

    Hi Gena! Thank you for your life-changing channel!🥰 I have been looking for videos that give tips for curlies who wear helmets all the time. I ride horses almost every day, and I don't think the helmet is doing my hair any favors. Any tips you can give would be wonderful. Thanks so much for your awesome content!

    The last person who cut my hair destroyed my curls by repeatedly using a flat iron at such a high heat that smoke/steam was coming off of my hair. She insisted that a ‘dry cut’ is more professional. 🙄 What a crock of …. Needless to say, my hair just hangs now with barley a wave in it. Any suggestions on how to ‘heal’ my curls?

    Hey Gena! It seems that my hair is very similar to yours in texture, density, and curl type. I use a ton of the tips in your video (especially for sleeping, frizz, and for upright styling) but I’ve been having so much trouble lately with heave matting at my roots that just worsens the farther I get from wash day and makes refreshing almost impossible. Any tips?

    I actually prefer my hair on refresh days - even day 4! It looks stringy and flat on wash day, whether I diffuse or air dry. I think I may need to use more hold!

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  Рік тому +2

      I'm not sure if you normally add more product on refresh days, but that could be why you like your results then because you usually get more hold with adding additional product. Over-moisturization is also usually a cause of people not liking their day 1 results.

    • @gasparinha
      @gasparinha Рік тому

      Thanks for your advice! I prefer light conditioners because my hair gets too soft otherwise, so I suspect overmoisturization and not using enough product could be the culprits.

    My hair is exactly like yours except I am more of a wavy. I don't have the ability to get my arms up there correctly to do proper brush styling and my hands also don't work right. What do you feel about wash now style later? I wash, use leave-in, then add some oil. Then the next day I rinse and use product and style as best as I am able. It's HARD to do it all on the same day.

    • @sweetmother2406
      @sweetmother2406 Рік тому +2

      I do the same thing. I have a baby and it’s so hard t make time for washing and styling on the same day. On wash day I put in leave in conditioner and air dry then on day 2 just rinse my hair while I shower and add product cuts and style from there. I actually like having that first day of relatively product free hair. Natural hair should be all about what works best for you 💕

    • @chrissie3742
      @chrissie3742 Рік тому

      I do he same thing too because of chronic fatigue and muscle weakness. I wash and oil one day, then next day put my curls in a bowl of water to fatten them up and then apply curl cream and gel. Then defuse later on hopefully.

    Aways learn something from you even if I have heard it before. It took many months before I went to Ouidad gel. I had so many products, I hated the idea of trying one more. I do love it even though it is more costly. My hair is thin fine dry and easily frizzes. After so many curl creams and gel combos, I finally settled into a 1,2,3 gel routine using after my leave in (I use Tre Luxe Untie the Knot). In one of your recent videos, you used Curlsmith's Full Body Thickening Lotion. I gave it a try and the combo of leave in, fb the thickening lotion fb layering the gels, (Tre Luxe- Hi Definition Gel fb Tre Luxe Reflex serum fb Bioterra Alcohol Free Defining Gel or Ouidad Climate Heat and Anti Humidity strong hold gel, using wet hair and hands with scrunching and brush styling at least has given me all day definition and made my second day refresh easier. I have yet to get to 3rd day without either completely wetting and restyling or washing/ cowashing or if I have enough curl around my face, I can pull up the rest and not look like I rolled out of bed. I will try the Lily Silk Bonnet. The ones I have are still a bit big for my low density hair. I am hoping it will make a difference. Also found that not using any scrunchies seems to work better for me.
