WOW... It is so cool watching you turn something so mondain into something that has a lot of character and quite frankly so beautiful. Keep up the good work, and yes please show off.
Have you done a video on types of paint to use for airbrushing leather? Just bought a brush, but haven't tried it. Not a big fan of Angellus leather paints and was wondering if there was a better choice(s). Hoping for a brand with lots of different color shades to minimize mixing colors. Anyway, appreciate your talent and abilities and willingness to share.
I haven't done one yet, but the answer is pretty easy, thankfully. Createx is my favorite... specifically the transparent colors. The "bloodline" set is what I use on almost everything. Just make sure you seal it with a clear aerosol sealer, or they'll wash off.
Awesome video! I’m a sucker for process videos. Love how you incorporated airbrushing, painting, dye and antique paste in this one. A little intro to quite a detailed process. Thanks for sharing your art with us!
Thank you! I've noticed a lot of people want to use the airbrush for the whole thing. It's a tool with strengths and weaknesses. Work it in when you can.
I would love to see more video of techniques on how to use the air brush on leather. There's just not enough content out there on it. Also it might help to have videos on how to improve your airbrush skills.
They are coming my friend! Right now I'm teaching airbrush classes for Elk Track Studios (Jim Linnel). I've got a video coming in the next 2 weeks where I paint a 4ft dragon I carved in leather. Skill classes are coming soon.
I like watching your process. I would like to see you you would do a standard oil, resist, antique on something like a wallet. I have done a few, but with little to no success with both gel and paste antique.
Good job. Love the way airbrushing works on leather. How long have you been airbrushing? Would love to see more instruction. Never airbrushed so it have to be remedial.
Thank you! I've been airbrushing since I was 20ish...I'm 46 now. I've done a lot of photo realistic paintings over the years. I'll definitely be teaching airbrushing on leather on this channel, and most of it will be entry level stuff.
Would love to know how you have that tool set up and what you’re using to burnish it, (or whatever that is sound 2min…) etc. Is that an electric eraser!?!?
Had the channel playing while I started a round knife sheath that I needed cause, well, round knives can get bitey if you're not paying attention. Then I heard the squeaky voice and instantly looked up, wondering how I had gotten switched to Floamy the squirrels channel. 😂
What kind and brand of paint are you using? I have 2 Iwata airbrushes and a compressor and probably the paint but I don't want to use something that is going to peel or crack. That's a lot of work to have it fall apart. Your work is beautiful. Thanks for sharing
I really like createx transparent paints. They don't need to be thinned and have great color saturation. They go on so thin they will never Crack. Just seal it well with an aerosol spray sealer
Hi Paul! The kit from Weaver is a good starter kit if you just want to do shading. The compressor is a little underpowered, but it still works for a newbie. The airbrush included in the kit is one that you'll probably never outgrow. Once you're ready to upgrade your compressor, there are lots of them on Amazon in the 75.00 range that work great. Just make sure it's got a regulator and a moisture trap on it.
I just use the cheap ones from Hobby Lobby or Michael's. I just get the ones with the plastic handles. Super cheap, so I don't mind throwing them away when I mess them up.
I get it. This was more of a "come along for the ride" but I can do a video like that in the future. As far as paint, I prefer the Createx transparent paints. But with them being water based, you have to seal them correctly or they will wash/wipe off. I've got online classes coming up that will cover all of this.
Daniel, you out did yourself. This is absolutely amazing!

Loved the electric eraser for the soft highlights!
Yes, more please. New to airbrushing and painting leather.
Airbrushing is going to be a major part of this channel. I'll be teaching different techniques and uses. 🙂
Oh my goodness yessssss I truly wish to more of this! Would love details
I'll try to get some videos out soon.
Awesome demonstration, Dan! Tutorials would be great!

Thank you for this. I would like very much to learn more about this.
Coming soon. 🙂

Absolutely fabulous. Are these acrylic paints? I know you are using an airbrush system. The link to Amazon doesn't give the type.
Yeah, that's pretty much all I use. 😁
I like watching your process. I would like to see you you would do a standard oil, resist, antique on something like a wallet. I have done a few, but with little to no success with both gel and paste antique.
Thank you! I can do that. I'll add it to the list. I should be able to do that one fairly soon.
Wow!

Solid stuff! What brand of paint do you use?
Thank you! For paint, I use transparent createx (not the t-shirt paints by them) and I use a thinned down Angelus paint.
Would love to know how you have that tool set up and what you’re using to burnish it, (or whatever that is sound 2min…) etc. Is that an electric eraser!?!?
Good guess. That's exactly what it is. 🙂

@@TheLeatherverse Thank you. I have every thing I need to get started. Thanks for sharing again. Greatly appreciated.
Hi Daniel, saw your video on Weavers, I have not got an airbrush but am looking into this. What would be a good reasonable starter Airbrush kitset.?

what kind of brush do you paint with?the ones im using are awful,
I just use the cheap ones from Hobby Lobby or Michael's. I just get the ones with the plastic handles. Super cheap, so I don't mind throwing them away when I mess them up.
@@TheLeatherverse thanks
What did you put in the antique finish for the color?
That was transparent water-based airbrush paint. I'm going to do a video soon on how to make your own antique paste.
Would like to learn how you did that
Happy to show you. Hopefully I'll have a video on it soon.
Also, what thickness of leather is that? It looks like a 10 to 12 ounce maybe?
It's not quiet that thick. Probably 8-10... somewhere in that range.
@@TheLeatherverse Thank you.
What is that tool you use after the air brush
I checked the video. Right after the airbrush was just a traditional paintbrush. It's that what you're referring to?
would like to know what paints, and other products used would make it more infromative
