I have this feature and prefer to just park my car. I do appreciate the audio and visual assist. It’s on me if I were to tap another car while parking, hard to blame technology when explaining to the other car owner.
This park assist feature is pure crap ! We own this same exact car and have never had the park assist be worth a damn. It is just to slow in recognizing a spot. You end up just confusing people behind you who are waiting for you to park already ! This feature might work ok in a non busy, non crowded parking lot but then who needs it !?
I love this feature - I use it all the time, but it freaks out other road users :)
Does this only work with car's parked to gauge off of or can it pick up the parking lines on the ground if no cars are near it?

Did I understand correctly? Did the car itself change from parallel parking to perpendicular? Or do I need to press something?
It will figure it out when it senses the vehicles.

You can, but you will have a constant alert light for it being turned off.
Mine never switches from parallel park. I’ve tried many times.
