Top grandmasters need to get used to players that are weaker in classical being strong in online fast formats. I remember there was this IM named cshoppen who was banned for being good at puzzle rush (it was an old version and he just memorized all the hard puzzles) and they only unbanned him after he got a really high score on camera. Blitz and bullet are very different from classical and should be treated as such.
Mouse skills play a large role. If you watch Kramnik he moves like an old man. While kramnik is fighting the mouse to move Jospem has already premoved 3 times
Yes, and as far as I can recall they never properly apologized, and instead in retrospective said he was banned for multi-accounting or something like that.
He played a tournament with people in the room watching him and filming him. With all that pressure, he came second. Then, he played a match with Danya - one of the strongest players in speed chess - and he only barely lost 4.5-5.5. It shows he is genuine and can compete with the best. It may be strange that he is much stronger in online chess than over the board. Maybe it is psychology. Maybe it's just that he doesn't get to play many OTB tournaments so that could be an uncomfortable experience. Most major OTB tournaments are still held in Europe and sometimes Asia. For someone from Mexico without the support system of countries with much stronger chess cultures, the expense of travelling would be a problem. The ability to fly all over the world just to play chess is still a luxury that many strong players from India and Eastern Europe don't get to enjoy. The Internet really is the big equaliser.
If not camera and whole crew watching his game, he would probably even win that TT. Also he could play a lot worse because of that pressure to him. But he showed he is not only a fair strong chess player, but also a very strong minded man. My apology to him for thinking that he was a cheater.

The only good that has ever come out of any of Kramnik's accusations is that we got this very well done documentary on Jose Martinez Alcantara. Very strong and personable player who never would have come on my radar otherwise since I am not fluent in Spanish. But chess transcends language. It is a perfect game in the eyes of many. Does cheating happen? Of course, there are cheaters in every popular game. But Kramnik really needs to hold his tongue. His constant string of accusations, both explicit and implicit, do more harm than good, especially when he's so blatantly wrong and has been caught cheating himself in the past. Kramnik is a strong player but his constant string of baseless accusations make him an embarrassment to the game, imho.
In official FIDE blitz rating standings Kramnik is 46th and Jose is 24th, and that's OTB. Online, Jose plays much more often, while Kramnik clicks twice to move a piece. And Kramnik still believes he loses only because Jose cheats 🤷♂
Excellent short documentary, maybe more content like this? Always a pleasure seeing the day to day life with the game of chess from different people around the world.

To step up with all the pressure and deliver the goods is impressive af. It’s like being accused of a crime and YOU have to prove your innocence. Well, he did that. I’m a fan.
I'm with jospem in this one. What he excels in just happens to be plagued (no doubt for good reasons) by lack of trust at present. These are the conditions of existence, and jospem is accepting them as best he can. Good on him, through any and all wins and losses. Pura vida.
PS: learn to play backgammon. You will be convinced cheating is going on (we all are). The invariable culprit in this case: the dice. Really, do it; it's a damn good lesson in human perception.
PPS: You don't have to beat Kramnik to prove anything, nor will losing prove anything. (But we're all human: beating him would sure be sweet, and make a much better story.... No pressure at all.... ;-)
I definitely think that is the problem. There should be no difference. And I mean kramnik also has accused danya before, but he probably didn't want as much backlash because danya is a popular streamer, commentator, and UA-cam creator and is known and respected by many top players. But then again jospem is also generally well respected so kramnik I just think he is out of line
Really great video, highly produced, great shots of people. I'd love to see more videos like this with other players, maybe not always being the product from accusations tho.
I'm only a 1200'ish player(10 min games) and I only play online but when I play some games, analysis some times shows my level a lot higher (1600-2000) (not time control) i'm just inconsistant. People arn't machines their performances vary, and that of the opponent they are playing as well. I follow Hikaru, Eric Rosen, Agadmator, Remote chess academy. I never think of people cheating. If Man City get beat by a team near the bottom of the league (it happens) do we think cheating. If your a GM your capable of beating any other GM (on your day).

Kramnik : " He has a Kramnik's book, a Kramnik's picture... Who is this Kramnik guy ? *raised eyebrows* Let's do some OSINT on wikipedia... *clic clic* Oh, an ex-world champion... *clic clic* Beat Kasparov in a match ? Interesting... *clic clic, open windows calculator* 1 chance out of a million... Unreal statistic... Will be surely confirmed by my my team of statistics experts, Igor and Svetlana _(couple of retired primary school math teachers who live on the 3rd floor, barely know how the knight moves)_ ... I don't accuse at all, I just say 99.999% chances he's a cheater... And you have to prove me wrong _(won't listen to you even if you do)_ ... Ok let's do the procedure. " *proceed to ban himself from fide, wikipedia and all chess website*
ahahahgahaha🤣🤣🤣
I can hear and see this comment unfortunately
You just hate him and rusia

it wasn't a transition, he teleported and should be investigated for practicing dark magic

"I can play with 80 x-rays". Can Hans say this?
Top grandmasters need to get used to players that are weaker in classical being strong in online fast formats. I remember there was this IM named cshoppen who was banned for being good at puzzle rush (it was an old version and he just memorized all the hard puzzles) and they only unbanned him after he got a really high score on camera. Blitz and bullet are very different from classical and should be treated as such.
Mouse skills play a large role. If you watch Kramnik he moves like an old man. While kramnik is fighting the mouse to move Jospem has already premoved 3 times
Yes, and as far as I can recall they never properly apologized, and instead in retrospective said he was banned for multi-accounting or something like that.
incredible what a genuine player. He is humble and patient as well. I wouldn't say the same about a certain former WC tho
Jospem is such a class act...The people's champion !! Kramnik is just sad !!
More documentaries like this please! Fantastic quality and a great story.
Aged like wine
If not camera and whole crew watching his game, he would probably even win that TT. Also he could play a lot worse because of that pressure to him. But he showed he is not only a fair strong chess player, but also a very strong minded man. My apology to him for thinking that he was a cheater.

Where is Kramnik and his team of statistics experts?

The "I cannot win so the other side must be cheating" virus has disseminated everywhere- From politics to chess.
Americanization of the world, those who cheat are the same ones who make false accusations.
Welcome to dystopia.
@@charles2521 LOL! That is so true. I find it fascinating that virtually every accusation made against other countries by the US, it turns out the US was the country that was actually doing it (e.g., running surveillance programs against the entire world, hacking the private communications of world leaders, stealing research data from other countries, etc.)
Kramnik should get sued for libel
Nice video. Kramnik and others should publicly apologize.
When a grandmaster accusing you are cheating, that really mean you are THAT good!!
16:23 just for kramnik lol
Jose Martinez Alcantara no necesita modulo, el modulo lo necesita a él.
Excellent short documentary, maybe more content like this?
Always a pleasure seeing the day to day life with the game of chess from different people around the world.
I love how you made the focus on the person and not the game. You know we know where to find the games. What a story worth telling and you did an extraordinary job telling it. Good job guys, Alex and the whole team. Feeling extremely emotional... l just watched an epic underdog story.
Okay this changed my view on jospem. I think he's a nice guy actually. Maybe he's not cheating after all, just enjoying chess. Great video.
Yeah, Jospem could just be the exception: a middle of the pack grandmaster who is exceptionally good at speed chess. Andrew Tang is a similar case.
Josepem is that ‘mysterious’ GM you can tell 100%
Jose Martínez is a machine, what a player 💯 🇲🇽🇵🇪
To step up with all the pressure and deliver the goods is impressive af.
It’s like being accused of a crime and YOU have to prove your innocence. Well, he did that.
I’m a fan.
Chess GMs can somehow constantly call some random players cheating. That's very unprofessional behaviour.
Excelente video. Graias! Felicitaciones a Jospen (José Martínez). Saludos de Colombia!!
Jospem has been consistently good for so long, I would never have thought he’d be one accused of cheating
little did we know..danya was also about to experience the procedure
No pressure at all.... ;-)
Where is Kramnik’s apology?
Have you ever seen a Russian to apologize.
Que grande Jospem, ahora a destrozar al Ex campeón mundial en el match
I would like to see a video where Kramnik opens up the ruski school of mouse skills.

Danya is world number 136, and Jospem 152 of FIDE active players. Both are top in online blitz. Why does one enjoy greater credibility than the other?
I definitely think that is the problem. There should be no difference. And I mean kramnik also has accused danya before, but he probably didn't want as much backlash because danya is a popular streamer, commentator, and UA-cam creator and is known and respected by many top players. But then again jospem is also generally well respected so kramnik I just think he is out of line
Much respect to this great person and fantastic chess player!
The same test for Jeffery Xiong would be interesting.
Really great video, highly produced, great shots of people. I'd love to see more videos like this with other players, maybe not always being the product from accusations tho.
16:24 for Kramnik.
What’s the lichess notification at 14:45?
The cheater always think everybody is doing the same way, am i wrong to think about Kramnik's Toilet Gate?
Unfounded cheating accusations just because you lost a game is a bad example for youth. And I hate kids.
I knew this guy was legit when he did the Hikaru head bob at 13:56
what a chad the tweet with the picture of him playing while reading the Kramnik book LMAO
With a hanging participle, I am ashamed of you.
"I'm With Stupid"
- Kramnik, looking in the mirror.
Honestly, this is just going to boost Jose's career even more. On the other end of the scale is Kramnik falling further than before.
Sounds like the Mexican version of hikaru
Kramnik became a shadow of himself. Amazing chess, poor history...
it was a good analogy. Brazil has fewer talents to play football, but there is no opportunity to play professionally.
The moment he agreed to the TV crew it was 100% proof he ain’t cheating
I'm only a 1200'ish player(10 min games) and I only play online but when I play some games, analysis some times shows my level a lot higher (1600-2000) (not time control) i'm just inconsistant. People arn't machines their performances vary, and that of the opponent they are playing as well. I follow Hikaru, Eric Rosen, Agadmator, Remote chess academy. I never think of people cheating. If Man City get beat by a team near the bottom of the league (it happens) do we think cheating. If your a GM your capable of beating any other GM (on your day).
Jospem is my new hero!

Let's just say it: they don't think they should be losing to a player from Mexico. That's what it is.
Nah, they just don’t think they should lose to someone lower rated in classical. Look at the fiasco with Niemann, and he’s from the US.
