I have a 2015 wr I've raced dirt bikes for 50 years and I love this bike and with the fmf pipe it's got a little nasty up top but a great bike and I am 5foot 7inch put the yamalink on if you're short
I bought a 2020 a month ago and have been watching wr50r videos more after buying than before. I'm very happy with the bike and hope I am breaking it in right. I live right off of a 50 mph highway and I'm wondering if taking it up to that speed right away is bad for it during the break in period. I do warm it up a bit and then drive it a few hundred yards first but that's about the best I can do.
@@sittingduckass3676 personally I think u are plenty fine going 50 on break in, just depends on where u are in the rpms but there’s a video about general vs hard break in and the results are almost identical. I think it’s more of the service and changing oil
BEST MACHINE EVER MADE !!! I have a 2015 previous owner had in storage for over a year, and when pulled out for first time from sitting , the battery was still had enough charge to fire it up on first try, to this day 1/28/2021 the factory battery still good, all stock engine wise, few mods I made was gearing and tires, bars grips ,decals, ect
Actually just got back from a 50 minute highway drive at night into the Phoenix our skirts to explore a track looking area I seen and it’s the perfect bike for that! 70-75 real mph for 45 mins then 20 in the dirt and 45 home! Great bikes!!!
I have a 2020. I found out the speedo displays 7-8% higher then actual. Its not technically reading wrong. From what I've been told it's actually a law that ALL speedos display faster than actual. Like 1-2%. Example have you ever driven through a timed area that displays your speed? All my cars have always read wrong also. 🤷 We are told lies about our speed! 🤔🤣
Great review! I was in the market for a WR250R and due to lack of availability in my area I purchased a WR250F and converted it into a dual sport. I SUBSCRIBED.
I have a 2020 wr250r I bought new have for w years now and the speedometer is not a myth it really does read 10 over 12oclock labs speed drd fixes that you definitely need to un kork it. As far as first gear it must be your bike or you..but they are awesome bikes and bought mine for two reasons.1 it's way better than the 300s that came out and 2 I could get one..I got possibly the very last one with a build date of 12/2020
Being 5' 8" doesn't tell us anything. I'm considering one of these bikes. What's your inseam? And when you got done with your seat modification, what was your final seat height? (Sorry if I missed it.) Thanks bro!
I was thinking the same thing, but I hear the aftermarket support if amazing. so I am assuming that 3rd party will take care of everything. What do you think?
I have a 2015 wr250r and mine is a bit taller considering I changed my rear tire to a 140/80/18 metzeler Karoo 3 , and changed rear to a 49 tooth and front 12 tooth, perfect smooth ride , anyway, considering it's now taller, I'm 5'9 245lbs and I found it much easier to use the left foot rest as a step for my left foot, and then swing your right leg over, it makes it so much easier to get on the bike that way instead of the old way ( flat foot on ground and trying to throw your leg over.). Geez might split my pants doing such acrobatic move. :) , love your vid by the way. These are best bikes ever in my opinion .
This is a bit of a necro comment, but if you still have your WRR, check the chain slider on the front of the swingarm. Putting a 12 tooth front sprocket lets the chain rub HARD on the front of the swingarm, and will wear the slider away and chew into the swingarm itself. Keep the front sprocket 13, or even go to 14 to be safe. You can always go bigger on the rear.
No power wheelie, I’ve always clutch it up , it gets you to the balance point much faster and without running high rpm . I’ve been a stunter for over 26 years, im 53 now and still ride like a nut , lol 😂 . The only bikes I would power wheelie are 1000cc bikes and up . Just keep in mind if you gear a bike to power wheelie, you will lose top end speed
I just got a 2020 WR. About the speedo "myth." I've heard it is only inaccurate if/when you change the gearing, because that messes up the sensor that determines speed. So far, mine w/stock gearing seems to be accurate. Personally, I'd give it a higher rating for performance. From what I've seen, the WR has slightly more power than even the new KLX300 just released this year. Not to mention, the suspension components are great and completely adjustable. Take the new Honda CRF300L - no adjustable suspension at all. Plus, the WR has beefier fork tubes than either the Honda or Kawi new 300s. So yes, the WR costs more, but has better components than a lot of these other bikes, plus more hp to many other bikes in its class. Nice review! Btw, good job w/the seat. I have found already that the stock seat is not very soft or very comfortable. Not sure yet what I might do about that..
You shouldn’t buy the 2020...you should buy my 2019 with tst rear fender eliminator with smoked tail/brake light and integrated turn signals, tst license plate bracket and led light, full fmf power bomb header and Q4 exhaust, zeta hand guards and bark busters with integrated turn signals, flatland racing skid plate, tst flasher relay, powermad mirrors, hammerhead shifter, pro taper seven eights kx hi bars, pro taper pillow top grips, dyno jet tuner, yamalink lowering link🤣
@Big Al I had the same debate. The wrr is better off road given it has better suspension and clearance. It makes its power higher up in the rev range than the KLX but it does make more power none the less. KLX perhaps more linear. If you can find a used WRR for less than a new KLX, go with that
Najupotrebljiviji motor neznam zasto ih vise ne proizvode verovatno zato sto sa njim servisi ne prosperiraju,u prevodu ne kvari se kao ovi f modeli za jednokratnu upotrebu
I find it amusing that you blocked out your license plate in some shots and not others
😂 I’m on my 2ns wr250r in 3 years and I love it and still watch all these reviews about them cuz it never gets old hearing about this bike
It truly is a great bike! thanks for watching
@@Estietries Love mine as well, and can we all agree it is SAD that they are discontinued?!

Best all round 250 dual sport ever and a future classic so don't over mod and keep all the original parts.

Wow sounds like a ton a fun! I'll be uploading dirt videos soon
I’m buying one that’s decked out with mods tomorrow at 5pm :DDDD
Heck yeah! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

To get the first gear from neutral, up the trottle once (low/mid rav) than hit the first gear.
Thanks for the tip, I will try it!

Lol, I just bought the wr250r, I felt like the mirrors looked kind of dumbo ears myself!
Don't buy now wait for new model which should be 300cc. The 250 maybe reduced when new model comes in.
The price tag will be high I think:(
My man Estie!! Glad to see you came over to the Dirt Side!! Love the bike man!!!
Estie, Why the flashing the clocks? Looks like you’re overheating or left the signal on.
My 2017 wr has trouble getting into first not all the time but every once in A while I thought it was just mine
Yeah that's exactly what I'm seeing with mine! thanks for the heads up
I have a 2013 and it's identical to the 2020, no problems with going into first. Maybe the clutch is in need of a adjustment.

Thanks bro!
I'm 5'7" and have a lowering link (factory). My inseam is 30-31"? Rest stock.
I just barely get the balls of both feet down when stopped.
I'd love to buy a WR....... but I hear thay are being discontinued. 😔

AWESOME. Great vid and great info 👍🏽
Not comfortable? You cut the damn seat out!

Yea I’ve been checking it from time to time, so far still good, im sitting on about 5,000 miles so far and all is good 👍
12/49! can it do power wheelies/monos easily in 2nd or 3rd gear ?

Can you explain how you did the seat in a little More detail please! I want to do the same. You got a new subscriber man thanks for the vid haha

Try this, with the bike still on the kickstand place your left foot on the left peg and stand and you can easily swing your right leg over it. 👍
See I have the 450l and it was a hard choice from that to the wr. I still watch these reviews. Might get one just for the fun 😅
Nice review thanks! I am debating between this and a klx250 kawasaki
Thanks for watching! I've heard great things about the KLX, and it's cheaper!

Nice WR250R! 👍🏻
solid review. I have one as well (2017). Fun ass bike.
I want to do the seat mod but scared I’ll butcher it.
Not a myth. The spedo is 10 miles off when it says 75.
Best video ever !!
Hello ... love the Yamaha.. !!
the last model of WR250 is 2019 model ,, not 2020 Bro ,, Factory said they stopped manufacturing WR after release of 2019
Technically they stopped making it in 2019. But it is the 2020 model. I have one also.
Looks just like my 2015
Absolutely love mine

I love ittt
Well the highway in my area has a speed limit of 55 and goes down to 40 through a small town, so I'm not worried about speed.
Then you will love this bike.
Put in the Yamalink & drop the front struts 3/4” and you will be comfortable
