Wow... I didn't know where that auction was going to stop - it just kept going and going and the bidding was getting crazier and crazier. So exciting! You know what I think though got me the most was when I saw all the folks bowing their heads in prayer before they started their meal. For some reason, that totally pulled at my heart and made me realize that not all of this country has gone mad...that there are some folks out there that still believe in prayer and hopefully believe in this country and just how great it really is. So, thank you for that.
My dad use to buy and sell cattle and pigs in Murray, KY back in the 40a and early 50s. I enjoyed watching this UA-cam very much. Y’all keep up the good work.
Katie your so right about the red cows. I am trying to push my family more with red cows. I'm a girl and going up against the men in my family is hard.
I had to laugh, typical farmer injury doesn’t slow them down herding cattle in a boot!! 😂 Farmers really are made of different gravy to normal folks!!! 👍🏻
Thank you for the memories! Many decades ago, as a young teenager, I was privileged to join my uncle and cousins on the Black Hills Simmental tour in Alberta Canada. We toured ranches, entered a contest to guess weights of various bulls, enjoyed a fantastic BBQ and were mesmerized buy the cattle auction. Back in the day, the stock was brought into an auction pen...no big screens. Truly one of the most amazing days for a city kid! Watching your video brought that back.
I love Johnathan is like get her. He gets into it. Did he have any background in horse and cattle farming before he met you? I would love to see a video on his background.😊
and this is why i couldnt do stuff like bidding or gambling of any sort. wayyy too much pressure is lose my mind lol Katie is stronger than ill ever be, nerves wise
I’m going to ask a dumb question but what is the “fatty” hump in the front of the heifer? I notice it more with the Roans. Just trying to learn!! Love you Katie and all of your animals!
At the Australian cattle sales my paw dreads when i go with him. This asshole bid a 3 year old bull that should have sold for four grand. He pushed the price up to nine thousand. Thinking I'd gave in f that. My paw sits with his legs crossed and drops a leg when i have to stop bidding. Paw did leg aerobics last sale. This angus bulls dad is last years champion. My paw gave me the lecture of my life after the sales. My paws a Litchfield, our family is the number one seedstock operations, in Australia. Our family has breed cattle since 1834.We sold 760 bulls all around Australia last years numbers. I love Katies channel because she knows exactly what she's talking about. I meet so many people at sales that talk themselves up. That don't understand the basics of breeding 😂.
They raise seed stock cattle that will go on to breed at another farm. Some are definitely show quality but the only showing they do is with the horses. The cows are beef cows but too high quality to go for food, they are sold to other farmers/ranchers to help improve their herds and to help improve/advance the Simmental breed itself.
Usually 1 of 2 things...1 they go back home to the farm they came from and are kept in the herd or are taken to another sale and hopefully will be sold that time. Or 2, easiest way I know how to explain is give a scenario...Katie is the seller, I am the buyer. Katie set $5,000 as the lowest bid they will sell the cow for and i only have $4,500 to spend. Cow comes in the ring, bidding starts at $5,000, no one bids so the cow is sent back to her pen and the sale moves on. Once the sale is over I approach Katie, tell her I'm interested in the cow but only have $4,500 would she take it? If so the cow is mine, if not refer back to #1. Hope this made sense!
There is limited space and if the cow is already bred then the bull will have no interest in her and completely ok to put them together. Some farms keep bulls with the cows year round, even when they calve and raise their babies. No harm in it and can be done for a list of different reasons.
Thank you for your response Leanne . I have no knowledge about alot of the animals that Katie has. I enjoy watching her . She's got alot of knowledge , so it's informational and educational. Thank you for answering my question. I appreciate it. Have a nice evening.
I hate that they sell cows like this, lets sell all your horses the same way ... stick a number on their ear and sell em on . Cows have a Right to live out their life happy in their field just the same as your horses do🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
katie already said the cows get sold to other farms and she she buy cows from other farms too, to prevent inbreeding. these cows do live happy life in field's. you want the bull to mate with his daughter? no. I thought this was commen sense lol
Jonathan's "get her" is just amazing. The love that man has for you could never be topped.
I love that permanent smile on your face, shows that you love what you are doing.
I totally agree with you AND Miss Katie surely knows what she is doing! Jonathan's trust in Katie goes full circle. I just love a good auction.!!!

Bonnie is a great looking cow, she is deep and fleshy - good momma genes for sure! Beautiful blue roan 🥰
Wish my husband would say yes to every animal I wanted to buy. He says it’s because “we don’t have a pasture”. I didn’t ask for logic man 🤣
Justice knows his job😂
I love Johnathan is like get her. He gets into it. Did he have any background in horse and cattle farming before he met you? I would love to see a video on his background.😊

I’m going to ask a dumb question but what is the “fatty” hump in the front of the heifer? I notice it more with the Roans. Just trying to learn!! Love you Katie and all of your animals!

Man, Katie she sure is pretty. 🥰

Ahhh bluebell.
How long should bonnie live till?
Why are they on sale this was randomly suggested to me is it for eating or like show dogs?
I had no idea what money goas around in this. Wow. But yeah I know nothing about cows and such. Interesting to learn about. 😀 She is pretty.
@ around the 5:10 mark I noticed some Amish bidders. That's so cool
Your dad's face at 5k, LOL
I have a question. Do you raise cattle for breeding or for shows or for what. I'm in Oklahoma and mos are raise for beef.
😂😂😂 “ don’t judge me”
Can you do more videos of you riding!!!
Do you sell any bulls besides ar auction?
Is the color roan on a cow rare?
❤️
Is this a sale for breeder cows?
Didn’t you host last year too?
😮😮😮😮😮
More of vs ❤❤ ride him or show him! That would be legendary
What happens to the cows that are "no sale"?
Usually 1 of 2 things...1 they go back home to the farm they came from and are kept in the herd or are taken to another sale and hopefully will be sold that time. Burgers
People who say grow veg..might as well get over it! Human beings are never going to stop eating meat!
I'm not gonna stop eating meat.. It's in the word..!!
ME__ EAT= MEAT.. 😁👍
❤😂
May I ask the breed?
Simmental
So why did you buy that cow ?
💋🐂
Do people buy these to eat them?
On TikTok, Katie mentioned these cows were for breeding, bettering the herds, basically swapping out cows for better cows and to prevent inbreeding.
Why did you put her in with the bulls if she's already pregnant ?😮
There is limited space and if the cow is already bred then the bull will have no interest in her and completely ok to put them together. Some farms keep bulls with the cows year round, even when they calve and raise their babies. No harm in it and can be done for a list of different reasons.

Katie why are you bidding on your own cattle?
Not every cow in the sale is theirs. Multiple farms are involved
I though you are selling Gemma to
First 😂😂
You should Greta so basically you bought Bluebell for half the price simple girl math
You do realizar these are living sentient beings, mammals ,just like you and me, right? They are not commodities, go and grow vegetables !!!
Karen😂😂 u need to go somewhere.. And it's way south of your vegetables.. 😂
I hate that they sell cows like this, lets sell all your horses the same way ... stick a number on their ear and sell em on . Cows have a Right to live out their life happy in their field just the same as your horses do🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
You deginately don't understand farming.
@@tamarastephenson8985 i do but its not nice selling cattle .... when ya get them ya should keep them for the rest of their lives
katie already said the cows get sold to other farms and she she buy cows from other farms too, to prevent inbreeding. these cows do live happy life in field's. you want the bull to mate with his daughter? no. I thought this was commen sense lol
Say u are a city Karen without saying u are a city slicker..... Karen!!
