can u please show how you put the text and the whole process on the app, not with the text already done, cause new people like me have no idea how to put text on the app, its great you show the end process but you dont show how you loaded you text on the app......

Can you help me: I have googled but I can’t get my joy to write in a single layer. It outlines everything. Even when I choose the writing fonts. I have tried cricut sans, cricut alphabet, and simple celebrations.
But you didn't say how to do the writing on your phone app. I can't find this info anywhere.
I can go over that. You have to change the sentiment to “Draw” under Linetype. Then when you go to write the machine will prompt you to enter the pen.
The design space app doesn’t have the same interface, as the computer program... I cannot figure out how to do this on the app. The app is totally different I am using my ipad.
How do you program it to write in the card what steps do I input into design space. Do I need to a text box etc ? Thank you.
You have to create a text box and write on the inside of the card.

Do you just eyeball the centering of the writing? Is there a way to get grid lines to show up when you are in the "make" screen.
Yes, I do just eyeball placement. Also you can remove the grid lines. Let me get instructions and come back to you on that.

Where did you put the writing so it will PRINT on the card
The Cricut Joy does not do printing like the other machines can do, because it does not have a sensor. On the other machines, you would change writing or an image under the “Line Type” selection (top left of canvas). For images that have layers, you need to flatten them first (bottom right corner). Then you would go to cut and you would send the project to your printer. It will print with a black box around it and then the machine will cut it out. Would a little video help?
I know it don't print need to know how you typed out the verse to get it to write on the card on the joy not understanding how you do that

Thanks for the video; I do think the Joy's target audience is "crafter on the go" (which usually is a more experienced crafter) as well as the beginner crafter (I started on the first Circuit a doz years ago and have seen the evolution of the Circuit products). This is also great for those with limited space. I am one of those that have multiple Circuit products (avoided buying the Maker since I couldn't see the value since I have the Explore 2). I did buy the Joy since it will do the small faster projects (writing, small cuts, etc.) and the footprint is smaller and needs little storage space. I do wish they had been able to use the existing pens (I have so many). I hope this is a hit with crafters everywhere.

I need a bit of help. I am trying to write inside my card and it still says cut. Do I just ignore that and keep going with the pen in the housing or am I doing something wrong. I know you all are busy whoever ends up answering so I really want to let you know I appreciate your help.
You should change the Cut Path to Draw to switch it from a Cut to something that uses a pen.

So did you just swap the cutter out for the pen or what? Are there certain settings you need to use? Can you explain more of what you actually did?
Hi Katrina! Yes, you take out the blade housing and pop in the pen. I actually posted another video that shows how you remove the housing and use the pen. It’s the one called “Adding Sentiments” to Joy Cards.
Hi, very newbie Joy owner, in fact I bought it yesterday afternoon, still in the box at the minute. 😊
Can I use the Joy to write any sentiment (verse) on a piece of appropriate sized card to pop in the cards I make? I’ve not downloaded the app yet, need to figure out which one is the right one. I’ve got a scan n cut but have honestly never got to grips with it for using vinyl, or much else for that matter. I’m hoping the Joy will be better for me. I hope Cricut DS desktop would allow us to upload our own designs into DS without needing an iPhone or iPad etc. some of us don’t have Internet Provider options where we live. I would like the card mat concept if workable with the air and maker machines and also allow for a 5x7 card or different size greeting card options. I have major vision problems so using an iPhone etc is extremely difficult. Please Cricut team, software builders I Can’t use my air or my maker without a whole lot of stress so not worth the effort. Machines just set, I can no longer use, enjoy, express my creativity with my Cricut machines. You will still be able to see how I use DS when I go to library to update DS. I have never misused any software programs ever.
Miss Rita, rescue me! I love your videos very much. You are a great teacher! I want to make cards with my Joy but I keep having a problem cutting them. The design cuts too close to the top of the card and the slots for the insert are so high that sometimes they will actually tear. As far as I know I’m using the card mat correctly. Can you tell me what’s wrong? Is the mat defective? The machine not calibrated properly? Or operator error? I have a picture I took but not sure how to send it to you. Hope you can help. How find you get the letters to stay in the center of the page. When I tried it noatter where I pu it on the mat it went to the you left cornetk
