great review, I never considered tensioning with my thumb in the situation the turning tool is constantly falling out. that is a new trick for me. thanks!
Hope it helps, it takes a bit of getting used to with the different grip but I think the upward pressure from the thumb really helps with the 2-in-1 style tensioners staying in place.
Great review Jim! For me, 95% of the time, I use JL picks. I own quite a few brands and while sometimes a lock might require a different pick for a pin, JL picks never disappoint. They just "feel" right. Thanks for doing the review.
He has some in the works but wanted to get some starter and intermediate sets out first. I have the intermediate set on the way now and will be reviewing it when it gets here.
I got this set last Wednesday...I have to say that I'm very impressed with the fit and finish...Love the rake and turning tools too. I think they are a little more refined than the V3's...
I’m not even sure I actually have the v3 or if I have v2. My .023 aren’t etched with the model and not sure if mine are just pre etch or an older version. Either way I’ve never had an issue with a Jimy pick that was released for production.
I have other 4 sets of hooks and they are strong but the finishing on my was far below many of the other brands I have such as Multipick. After some finishing they are nice picks.
Personally I never polish/finish my picks but the set I received had no noticeable issues. My comment in the video comparing to multipick was only in reference to the tensioners.
I almost feel like he made the .018 picks so strong that I don’t believe he even needs to make .023. The JL .018 feel stronger than most other brands in .023 that I have used anyways.
Agreed, in my hands they feel exceptionally strong and I have tons of confidence in the picks. When I see guys bend Jimy’s .023 picks from trying to pick warding or just constant over tensioning it just gives me cause for concern.
I would love his picks! Been wanting them since Christmas but either I haven't had the money or he's been sold out. Can't seem to make it line up where there's stock and I'm not broke lol. It's frustrating lol.
man I'm so glad I got these before they were sold out, only improvement would be the tension tools be tumbled to smooth out the edge where your finger sits.. and i sanded the pick handle cause of sharp plastic protrusions.. how is your set with what I mentioned..
There’s a slight seam from the injection here and there but nothing noticeable in hand. I didn’t have any sharp edges on my tensioners. I missed the first drop of the new set and had to order when the 2nd run got released a few days later.
Have you experienced any issues with the shaft of Jimmy Longs picks being too tall for paracentric keyways? I've noticed that most other manufacturers keep the shaft narrower all the way to the handle. I understand that Jimmy Longs might design it this way for added strength, but could this affect accessibility in tighter keyways? Specifically, does the taller shaft get obstructed by the warding, making it difficult to reach the pins?
I agree when it comes to the finish of the picks. I was referring to the finish on the champion tensioners vs his 2-in-1 tensioners. Again, for a one man shop with small batch production vs a mass produced product with great quality control multipick does a great job all around.

Glad to see you tension with your thumb like that, kinda felt dumb for doing that a lot. Great review.
It just helps keep the tensioner in there better. 2-1 are a compromise vs prybars for tok but that at least makes them less prone to slipping
I was finally able to order an Intermediate Set of Jimy Longs, they will arrive between Mon.-Wed. I'm so excited!!!
Nice, enjoy!
Nice! I want to buy one too but they’re outta stock, also did you pay for shipping or was it free?
@@danib0ii4 if memory serves shipping was like $5
@@danib0ii4 it was added in the cost!

Good review! I think he makes some great picks. I’d like to see some thinner picks as well.

I just got my set yesterday. Can’t wait to really dig into them.
They’re great picks and the short flat is my favorite.
I love my jimi picks. On top of making great tools he’s an awesome guy.
Jimy is a treasure to the community and he has the coolest name.

They’re worth the wait, some of the best picks out there.

My first pick was a Sparrows. It is still usable but you can tell I abused it.

@@TheLockWhisperer I personally haven’t had any issues where the shaft has caused accessing pins become an issue.
Jimmy has nice picks and I prefer his handles but the finish was not even close to the multipick I've ordered.

Those are sold out already 😩
For good reason
This review would have been a whole lot cooler if the picks were in stock.
Not being able to keep picks in stock is a better testimonial to their quality than anything I have to say.

They are very good picks and you’ll bd happy with them
This set is only $20? Omg
That’s why they’re so hard to keep in stock.
@@georgiajim2260 I know I just checked lol. I'm on that waiting list now.
Jimy gave it to you for free! Fake review!
I don't have the new ones yet but they're still my favorite picks.
To be fair he’s been giving me picks for years lol
