@@mateiudan4156 does it include the very best JRPG ever Skies of Arcadia? It got ported to GameCube with upgrades called Skies of Arcadia Legends. The GameCube version is going for $80-$110 with box, and Dreamcast one is cheaper because it can be pirated much easier. I'm dying for SoA to be ported to Switch! PUHLEASE Sega! Btw the same team who made SoA made Phantasy Star, a lot of other great games like- Valkyria Chronicles, and the first one has Vyse & Aika(from SoA) as side characters in VC. Vyse & his stage were in Segas All-Star Racing which gave me the greatest feeling knowing they didn't forget about it. I would be fine with a straight port, but if they remastered it I think the art style used in Valkyria Chronicles would fit perfectly. The color penciled in look

I didn't fully realize why people were saying the psone classic was a lazy emulator but after watching this I realize how lazy it is. This has a cool retro room, challenges, and graphics smooth options.
And this is just a $30 disc/cartridge...not even a full console.
Not to mention, this game is like a steroided-up remix of Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for 360 and PS3, and SEGA have been making a killing off badass compilations since the mid 90s. The one bad thing I could say about this game is that the game room hub is kinda empty and creepy and lifeless feeling (at least when I used it to play Sonic 1 on Steam, not even any background music, just eerie background noises), that's still fine. As much as I remember and treasure Sonic Mega Collection and Gems Collection's numerous menu tracks, the main draw really is all those awesome old games.

Bro Sega was the first ever system I received in my life at Christmas as well,not a sob story but my family wasn't rich growing up so the only way I'd be able to play a game was at an arcade or at somebody's house. Me and my sisters got a knock on the door and we went to answer the door there it was,we were so happy man thank you for this channel and sharing your short story about the Sega you got it took me back and felt I had to share it

Here a tip for any input lag for any compilation of retro games. Wallpapers almost ALWAYS introduce input lag. Try turning them off.

@@JGRICH61 Yeah. Just try it with Megaman X collection, Megaman collection, Capcom bundle, or SNK collection. If you dont have any of those games, wait for someone else to confirm.

I remember I first saw my cousin playing Sonic 1 on genesis and I wanted it so bad. But for a while I was given his throwback NES, stuck playing Mario 1 and Duckhunt. Which honestly was best to start out with the original 8 BIT... but I desperately wanted SEGA.
Then I finally got the Genesis w/ Sonic 1 and TJ&E and it was GOOD! For a while I thought SEGA was better because I unfairly put The Genesis up against the NES, and for a while I didn't even know what Mario 3 or Mario World was. (of course later on I got SNES and wow both systems were amazing)

I miss the ol Sega and Nintendo rivalry from the 90s tho. "Genesis does... Genesis does... Genesis does... Genesis does...what Nintendon't."
I had a Genesis in the 90’s and it was good, but it was mostly popular for sports games, such as EA Sports NHL Hockey. Nintendo always had a lot of it own established franchises with Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda and Metroid. It was also originally the only platform Castlevania and Final Fantasy, before PlayStation took them over. Sega never really had any real franchises except for Sonic, which now is pretty much on every other system. It never had the staying power and when PlayStation came out Sega consoles pretty much died off. Nintendo never really went away and was able to mount a come back with the Wii in 2006 because of their own copyrighted franchises.
@@Jmmoffa so you never heard of Castlevania Bloodlines for the Genesis, apparently. And what the heck do you mean that Sega only had Sonic? What about Streets of Rage, Columns, Golden Axe, Vectorman, Eternal Champions, Phantasy Star, Shinning, Outrun, Altered Beast, Virtua Racing..? All those are EXCLUSIVE. And there are hidden gems like Ristar, Dynamite Headdy, Gunstar Heroes, YuYu Hakusho. No man, the Genesis had a SHITLOAD of great games. Why do you think the 16bit war was the biggest of them all, and makes the actual rivalries as a kindergarten slap fight?
Gun star heroes was so badass! I remember being a little kid and getting it as a gift. I was so obsessed with the game

Man this is a lot of my favorite games from my childhood. I'm on this one. Sega did a great job. Now if only the other companies, (Sony this means you) would takes notes on how a proper retro collection is done.
Sega is totally hitting home runs on retro games for the Nintendo switch. Arcade quality and excellent amounts of games. I really hope they are all on the physical copy. We need racing games. SEGA KEEP THEM COMING! Bring them all.

If you like Shining Force, check out Golden Sun on GBA also by Camelot. Also, the game gear Shining Force games are worth a look (re-released as Shining Force Gaiden on Sega CD)
If Golden Sun had been finished with a 3rd GBA installment it could have been a perfect JRPG.
Landstalker is an amazing game, missed getting it on the wii virtual console, so this is a definite must buy for me 😀

The genesis was my first brand new console too, the one that came with Sonic 2. Such a dope console and I'm so happy I can play these games with my brother half-way across the country.

I recently got a Switch, so I went back and watched your Ultra Street Fighter 2 preview because that's the only SF game I don't own, but I've gotta say... RGT85, you have come a really long way since then in terms of just overall screen presence, you've really come into your own.

The Switch version is MISSING two games that the Xbox One and PS4 version have, namely the two Wonder Boy games. Not a lot of reviewers are mentioning this. Definitely something to be aware of if you are trying to decide which version to get. It really sucks that SEGA took games out of the Switch version and have not been transparent about this.
Wonder Boy is such a great hidden gem, even now it is hopelessly overlooked.
The Switch can’t handle those games. Lol.

There's even Sonic 3 on PC. The Switch gets the worst version!
The only solace is that Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap is on Switch, and Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is also coming to the system. I'd also like to see a Switch port of Monster World IV.

If Sonic 3 and Knuckles can get rereleased on Steam, then why couldn’t that game get rereleased in this collection when every Sonic Genesis game is in the collection, even Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine which is a re-skin of PuyoPuyo?
@@Hylianguy38 Sega bought most of Compile's IPs when they went bankrupt circa 2002. Puyo Puyo's rights aren't a problem for them. The real question there is why they didn't include the superior Puyo Puyo Tsuu.
@@superbroly64DS Yes...at least when I re-purchased/updated it to the current version. Sonic CD wasn't in the compilation hub though... it has its own place in the library menu.
@Daniel Sonic 3 and Sonic 3 and Knuckles did come out on Steam before this collection. However, if you buy the collection now, it's included as any other game is.

Eternal Champions a true classic in my mind. And great music. But to this day the difficulty and controls are just to much for me. I remember just looking up how to do the "fatalities" and attempting to do them. Very fond memories.
If you want a hidden gem on this collection, Beyond Oasis is one of the greatest games I ever played as a kid; in fact, in my opinion, this entire compilation is worth the price for that one game alone.

I sold my SEGA collection back in the day for a PS2 and two games, Vertical Fighter 4, and Tecken 4. I have been trying to rebuy my collection back from my childhood.almost complete again. But I also aqiyered some new games in the process. I am a SEGA kid and always will be.

Question: Did you test Revenge of Shinobi? I've heard, and seen as well actually, that it has input lag on the PS4 version, that makes the double jump hard to pull off.

Called the “ megadrive “ here in Australia . I just purchased this game , it’s so much fun 🤩 brings back so many memories from the 90’s ! and great value for money considering the price of those carts back in the day !
I would like to have seen some of the Disney games in there such as Donald Duck's Quack Shot and Mickey Mouse's Castle of Illusion and other games such as Michael Jackson's Moonwalker and racing games like Chase HQ and as mentioned Outrun. Good honest review though.

I love how the game menu is set up like somebody’s bedroom in the ‘90s with sega posters everywhere! I wish it also included Chakan and Ecco the Dolphin, but other than that this collection is amazing, and helped me beat all 3 golden axe games!

Sega put already more effort into the menu of the games than Sony did in their entire "Classic Console" system.
I have my Japanese Megadrive from launch handed down to me from my brother which he custom painted. Sonic 2,3 and Streets of Rage 2 were some of my fond memories. I bought the Ultimate Sega Megadrive collection back on the PS3 which included Sonic 3 and Knuckles which isn't on here unfortunately.
However I did still enjoy this new collection on the PS4 as it has some of my favourites on there like Shadow Dancer, Shinobi, Streets of Rage and more. I definitely will be picking this up for my Switch.

When I seen it had BOTH "Shining Force" and "Shining Force II" included not to mention all the other great Genesis games in the collection it was an automatic buy for me, hands down!! I've been waiting for the Shining Force Series to get some love!! :)

Loki Odinson The emulation/conversion is technically very difficult to achieve without them spending alot of resources on, and as cool as the Saturn was, average Joe doesn't seem to want Saturn retro that bad.

Guardian Heroes was released on Xbox 360, so they've re-released it before.
All of Treasure's Saturn games have been re-released besides Silhouette Mirage, it could happen, I've only played Gaurdian heroes in Japanese, and the language barrier was a hinderance, I'd really like to play it in English (I don't have a 360)

I have the Sonic Genesis collection for PS3 and this newer collection for PS4. I have to say that I much prefer the older PS3 Sonic collection.

Are the inputs good on this collection. When I downloaded it on ps3 then ps4. Its glitched too much. I couldn't stand playing Sor games on it.
I got this collection for the Switch to have these games while on the go as well. Even though i didn't own a Sega Genesis growing up it is one of my favorite retro systems ever. This is an incredible collection even better than the collection on PS3.

These compilations are much better than Virtual Console. 1 you get more games for your money & 2 they can be released much faster. See how slow Nintendo is rolling out NES for online? That's how virtual console was except it was 3-5 games every few weeks & each 1 of those games could be for any number of consoles. Nothing for Genesis this time? Try next time. Not a game you wanted for your Genesis? Maybe next time x50.
I already own basically every NeoGeo game I want except Windjammers. I already own a ton of Sega games etc.
This is so much better they come out faster, and specifically for the system you want. Well except for Nintendo... I don't want to play NES I want to play SNES. I grew up with an NES and the catalog is meh. SNES games have better gameplay due to more buttons & 16bit sprites look beautiful with so many colors. NES is starting to look like Atari 2600 games(not really...) They're so bland & the games can't do much with 2 buttons. Give us SNES Nintendo!

I’ve already preordered the collection for the Switch on Amazon.
I bought this collection because of Landstalker. When I was growing up, that was one of the games I wasn't able to get. I rented it and have wanted it ever since. Shining Force, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Toejam & Earl are all really cool too, but I still have them on my original Genesis anyways.
I wish they would release Shining Force 3 from the Saturn.

@MusicMoviesGames there isn't really that many positive benefits to smoking besides it being a temporary stress reliever and you might possibly lose weight but there's so many downsides to it. The fact that there are hundreds of drugs within it and more than half of them are addictive. Lots of places are Banning smoking and it's becoming increasingly more pricey to keep up this outdated formerly socially habit . I don't understand why people still smoke fact it still amazes me that even still legal. There still people that have this mindset that it's nothing it's fine it's okay when it's not causes so many health issues and it just doesn't affect the person using it with second-hand affects others around them.

RGT what do you think of the emulation? I've heard the sound for the PS4 version was pretty bad. However I am buying this as the Switch is a great platform to have this on, not sure why you've bought a pyhisical version of it though when you got a free review copy.
I can't customize the controls on my game. How do you do that?
Am I losing my mind? Am I the only person on the planet who is noticing all of the graphical/audio glitches, input lag, and performance issues this collection has? Its not just on occasion either. This compilation has some serious issues. Please someone back me up.
@Ryder Barton I have, and its been much improved. There are still emulation issues though, Comix Zone is the first that comes to mind that still has problems. That being said, you cant always expect things to be perfect, and its much better than it was at launch.
I am 100% with you. I got this game this morning, the input lag on sonic renders it unplayable. I was so excited to get this again. My PSP MegaDrive collection runs way better
I had not bought before today as I had heard of the input lag, but bought it on the back of RGT85 saying he could not notice it. Playing Streets of Rage feels like your using ice skates
@@commodorenow5948 I hear you. It did get 2 updates that improved things, but there is still issues. The input lag in the Sonics being among them. Honestly I have a hard time believing some of these guys are as familiar with these games as they claim to be if they arent noticing the emulation problems. That or they have faulty memories on how these games used to run.

I have a few of the games on steam, but I would definitely be on board for picking up the Switch version of the Genesis collection! (even though some of them will probably wind up getting SEGA AGES conversions, it would be nice to have in the meantime.) and yeah it's on a portable system so it's like having a Nomad with 50 games! :P
