PLEASE NOTE: The video shows flashing Emu 2.0 RC1 via the Emuflight configurator. That is the incorrect version for use with Project Mockingbird. Please download the dev version linked in the Facebook page. In the video I say that the Mob6 and Meteor65 crash well. Then later I complain about how when they crash they stick to the wall or ceiling on Betaflight, and they don't do that on Emuflight. What I mean is, compared to a brushed Whoop, they crash well, in that they have so much torque that when they hit something they can instantly correct and often keep flying. But then sometimes Betaflight air mode flips out and the motors rev up and they stick to the wall or ceiling until you disarm. Upon re-watching the video a few times, it's clear that I'm crashing more on Emu, and I'm overshooting corners more too. My personal take on this is that the Emu tune feels so much better that it's encouraging me to try to go faster, and then I'm getting less precise. In addition, the PMB default rates were a little different than the ones I was using on BF. I think that with more practice, or with a more skilled pilot, the Emu tune would definitely be faster around a track, and it was no-question more exciting to fly. But some pilots are going to be faster on the Betaflight tune (or a slightly de-tuned version of the Emu/PMB tune) because they'll be more in control.
@@KnizzleHizzle Funny. The last time I tested Emu and flew it on defaults for exactly this reason, some people criticized me for not flying it "at its best". Just goes to show.
Joshua Bardwell oh, sorry, didn't mean to critize, I found it quite informative. But as I don't have a BNF whoop so I was curious what emuflight brings to the table ;-)
I'm curious why you consider the rates part of the tune? For me rates are distinct - a good tune gets the best out of the rates I like to fly and I would always put my rates onto a quad before evaluating how I feel it flies.

I tried the PMB emu flight tune for mobula6 and really didn't like it. The quad just felt way looser, particularly on yaw, which felt positively mushy compared to Betaflight. Mind you neither emu flight or Betaflight 4.1 on the mobula6 flew as nicely as my UR65 with 0802 19kv motors, JESC 48khz and a very slightly tweaked 4.1 F3 performance edition PMB tune. Hey hope someone can help me out - my first drone is the Mobula6 and I'm unsure about when I should be landing and ending the flight. The OSD says "low battery" after about 40 seconds of flying and then it says "Land Now" with the voltage at 3.3V after just 1 minute of flying. Are there some settings I should change? this is after having done the firmware change to JESC 48khz which is supposed to increase flight time. These are brand new GNB 300MAH batteries so I'm not sure what the problem is. Should i just keep flying down to 3V or will that damage the batteries badly? Cheers
Wondering if my mobula 6 with elrs with the baked in spI would still work with on emu flight since I believe there is a specific need for beta flight on the spi models. super late to the game any help is super appreciated!

This may not be the most relevant place to post this comment. But might be related to both the Emuflight firmware AND Betaflight firmware. Observing from both the Emax Tinyhawk AND the Eachine Trashcan. I have found something that seems counter-intuitive to me about "Crash Flip" or "Turtle Mode". Both micro-copters are completely "stock" as far as their motors and motor positioning. When attempting to flip either forward or backward. Both the two back props, or the two front props spin together as You would expect. And those "flips" are often successful. But when I try to flip left or right. The motor/prop selection for those flips does not seem correct to me. One way, the back-left and front-right props spin together. The other way, the back-right and front-left props spin. All the quads ever do, is just spin around on the floor. They never even TRY to flip over. I ALWAYS have to try to flip either frontward or backward. To even have a chance of success. Seems to me for a sideways flip. It should be either the front and back left props. Or front and back-right props that are configured to spin together. Googled to try and find some way to choose which motors are activated for "flip". But didn't find anything. Not sure if it's the FC firmware, or what. But the same motor-choice is present in both the Emuflight firmware. And the Betaflight firmware. And for both quads. Love Your vids Joshua. You're such a character. Saw the guitars hanging on the wall in this vid. Maybe we'll jam someday. ;)
@@JoshuaBardwell I think You're on to something: I prefer kind of a hybrid stick configuration. Not sure if it fits a "mode" definition. But I prefer to have both "two-dimensional" axis controls on the right-stick. Pitch (forwards backwards) Yaw (left-turn right-turn). Which control the quad more on a flat 2 dimensional plane with one stick. Kinda like driving a car. In some sense. Cars do not have anything like "Roll". If they did You'd probably have to carry barf-bags in the glove-compartment. Whichever way I move the right stick. That is the 2 dimensional direction the quad goes. Regardless of altitude. It's just more natural for me that way. Even after a couple years of struggling to "learn" Mode 2 like every One else... The moment I configured the sticks THIS way. I got a huge upgrade in piloting skill. It just "fits" my natural tendencies and impulses. My right hand is the single "driving a car". 2-dimensional axis controls. "KNOWITALL" indeed. DUH! Right stick for Pitch - forward/backward flip. Left stick for Roll - left/right flip. Thanks my friend. You said in a video one-time that people who don't fly Mode 2 "are doing it wrong". Maybe. I know You were being kinda tongue-in-cheek. But I coulda spent another couple years flyin' 20 feet and then crashin' into shit. And then putting the copters away for 8 months until I felt like being humiliated again. OR... I could choose to do it "My Way". I chose the Frank Sinatra approach. ;) And it paid off nicely.
Help please anyone!.. Can I swap the roll with the yaw on a transmitter? That's how I learned on 4 channel helicopters, and I was able to swap them for my Mavic Air. Thanks
Then why do i get 2:15 min with 19k motors and brand new GNB 300 and 350 batteries? I am pretty frustrated. Why do everyones perform so well except mine?
Are you flying particularly hard? Are you flying down to 3.1 volts? For the little 1S whoop packs, you can't stop at 3.5 volts like you do with a bigger quad. You really have to bleed them dry.
I always stop at 3.1V and I don't fly too hard as I am still a beginner. I just did the upgrade to Emu and 48kHz and I now get 2:20 on the 300mah batteries and almost 3:00 on 350mah ones. I really whished for 5 min + when I bought it, but i really have no clue. I even just tried oiling my bearings and I'll see if that brings me closer.
Hi JB, I notice you are using batteries without cables (not sure on the correct way to discribe); does this work OK? I have the opportunity to get some cheap GNB 300mah 1s without cables but was concerned they would stick out too far or move the COG. Any advise from anyone? Thanks in advance..
Also what's the difference between betaflight and emuflight for these micros. Like what's the filtering diff and pid diff and the actual math in the software. If it's just a different feature set that could be enabled in betaflight is prefer that. Uav tech already showed there was nothing different in emuflight vs betaflight when. It first came out. Is that true still?
JL FPV Emuflight added new code for Angle mode specifically. It’s got a new way it handles Angle PID’s over the old Betaflight way, new code that handles crashing and wall sucking (it has a “high and low” PID setting based on stick deflection), expo in angle mode, and feed forward in angle mode. It also has a new way (well, it’s the Silverware way) of calculating yaw. It does it around the gravity vector and it is less likely to i-term windup overflow...it does have it’s own downsides, but overall better.
JL FPV yeah, it’s still a solid PID tune as all of my tunes start out in Acro, but if you are wanting to do Whoop racing, Angle mode has been proven superior and even Vanny, NURK, JET, GAB, Phluxy, and NUB (and little old me) all fly whoops in Angle for racing.
Will you put emuflight on the meteor65 with the mob6 tune? I was talking to Patrick and he said that it will work on the meteor65 as well. Other people on the Facebook page have tried it too.
Hey Joshua, giving Emuflight a go. I'm setting up Emuflight LUA script and the pids.lua file has the same name as the Betaflight file hence it isn't working for me. Have you run in to this error and did you find a solution to it? If not is there somewhere I can go for support with this sort of problem?
Hi Joshua, can you help me with betaflight, please? When I connect the quad, main screen works (I can move with the quad and see it) but after I click on some command, the whole betaflight freezes and I have to shut it down. I can't literally do anything including getting into CLI. I've tried to update firmware but that didn't help. Do you have any solution please? Have a good day :)

Sorry off topic I thought Joshua did a review on this charger
HOBBYMATE Speed H6 Lipo Charger 700W DC / 200W AC, Fast Balance Charger
and I can't find it now.
So, what about the flight times after flashing to EmuFlight & PM? What kind of flight times do you get with the 19000kv and better batteries?
19 minutes on a 2s lithium ion :-0 including a stripped down GoPro!!!
I just received my Mobula 6 yesterday. I am trying to follow your steps to get emuflight running. And I stumble when I try to past the diff. CLI hangs/freezes when it is trying to build the autocomplete cache… I used the links from your Video and installed the crazybee F4 Fr Hex-File. Everything else in the configurator works fine… tried the 32 and the 64-Bit version of Emuflight With the same results.Freeze Right after I opened the CLI Tab. Any suggestions would be great!
I love my Mob 6 hd and been watching this, your jesc vid and another,,, so what do I do first? Jesc esc update or put emu flight on it? I hate updating, still fly an old mrm225 on whatever betaflight they had four years ago
What was capacity of the battery? on the recording is shows you are consuming over 1000 mAh? thx
Hi Joshua, is it compatible with the Flysky FS-i6X radio 🤔
Thx for answer
after tring emuflight my mobula6 cpu working 100%... and it happens after adjustment modes, from 50% too 100%. while in betaflight from the start cpu working only 15-20% cpu
Hi JB, is it possible to fly acro-trainer with emuflight + mocking project ?
FIRST! (always wanted to do that).
Maybe we'll jam someday. ;)
If diagonal motors spin then the quad thinks you are inputting yaw.
@@JoshuaBardwell I think You're on to something:
I prefer kind of a hybrid stick configuration.
I chose the Frank Sinatra approach. ;)
And it paid off nicely.
Hi Joshua. Did you have crash recovery turned on in BF/emuflight? it does wonders.
Help please anyone!.. Can I swap the roll with the yaw on a transmitter? That's how I learned on 4 channel helicopters, and I was able to swap them for my Mavic Air. Thanks
that's one steady voltage meter. or do my batteries suck...
@@simont3686 Check if your onboard voltage meter needs calibration. When you put a charged battery at 4.2v do you see 4.2v from OSD ?
@@Gillete13bmsp I will do that. But I'll use a lab power supply. And a multimeter. then I can be sure.
why does it change from 5 amp to 30 amp?
Can we use the firmware for Meteor 65 as well
?
Just to be clear - Emuflight does not support EU transmitters ?
Does Joshua wear dresses?

In acro, I get a strange auto pitch up as if I were in angle mode, any suggestions on a fix?
I tried adjusting the I pitch value in the pids and turning off the accelerometer and no luck.
I fly acro will the tune still work? I just can't do stability anymore. It just feels wrong.
The Facebook Page for emuflight is down... any way someone can send me it? I buildet a New one and didnt saved the config:(
Will you put emuflight on the meteor65 with the mob6 tune? I was talking to Patrick and he said that it will work on the meteor65 as well. Other people on the Facebook page have tried it too.
Hey Joshua, giving Emuflight a go. I'm setting up Emuflight LUA script and the pids.lua file has the same name as the Betaflight file hence it isn't working for me. Have you run in to this error and did you find a solution to it? If not is there somewhere I can go for support with this sort of problem?
So did you get more than 3 minutes flight time after flashing JESC and Emuflight?
JESC did extend the flight time a little bit, but not a huge amount. I didn't fly repeatably enough to be able to say more than that.
Have a good day :)
where is the video to flash the esc so you get 50 % more flight time... Tried looking it up can't find it as quick.

Where is the link to the pmb Facebook page?
Somehow the description got reset. I fixed it now though.
Will the firmware for the esc work for flight One
Would you be making a video on the newbeedrone brushless
Yes. Probably coming out next week.
Great Video, but am I missing something? I can't find the links for project mockingbird, the t16 throttle video or EMUflight.
I'm not sure how but the video description seems to have been reset. I've fixed it now. Sorry about that.
Bardwell, do you always race at home in a kimono?
I.... don't think you know what a kimono is.
@@JoshuaBardwell some kind of Lacey thong?
Joshua Bardwell my bad....man dress😂😂😂 ok wth do you call it? Just..."comfy" no pants wearing FPV?
He dose what he wants because he can and who cares ...he explains it here 3 years ago 😉

JB. Are the Orqa you new choice of everyday flying goggles 🔥🔥💪👽🤘
I use Orqa, HDO, and DJI depending on my mood. They are all excellent.
Joshua Bardwell if you had to choose one out of the 3 which one will be 🙈
