Oh hey, it's nice to see my old 2011 hack still being alive. Thanks for playing it! When I made this, I barely knew how to edit a ROM without a level editor, and I had just learned how the music data worked, making me able to arrange (and to a degree: compose) some very simplistic songs. My next hack however, called MM4 Voyage, will have lots of new enemies, new boss AIs, new music, new graphics and a different story. A trailer from last year is on my channel if you'd like to see it. Release will be in a few months!
Now that game I definitely do have also and I gotta say the music is 10 out of 10, my favourite theme tunes are Skull Man and Dust Man’s theme. Their themes I would gladly listen to for hours and hours. Haven’t played it yet but again I plan to find the time to. 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀.
I must confess I've been out of the loop somewhat, and this was the first exposure for me watching this video, though I'd heard of it for years. I would honestly rate this hack like a challenge version of the original game...as though it is "MM3 for super players" because it is very much to MM3 like Super Mario 2j is to super mario bros. Funny that: when 'Howard' of nintendo power first tested it out, many of his more technically-inclined fellow staff called SMB2j "merely a rom hack of the original" and once this opinion was made known it was quite possibly the first instance of the term being used in our popular lexicon of vocabulary. I digress, even if this was a conservative 'safe' effort in your own eyes, I still applaud your efforts because in its own way is preservation and appreciation of the arts that are the 90's era NES vidya. Much akin to how OC Remix are fan remixes of vidya OSTs. I look forward not only to trying my hand at this but playing MM4 Voyage. ;)
You're damn good--are you even human? Must've had a lot of practice. :) I don't consider this spoilers because watching and doing are two different things. Having grown up with the original MM3, attempting this is going to be interesting at this point in my life where my reflexes are slightly dulled, but my mind is on its A-game.
I decided to go with the original key (G minor) and its high pitched notes simply because that's what we're all used to. I think it's all a bit charming, though for pure musical purposes a lower key would be better indeed. I do actually have some minor hearing problems when it comes to very high frequencies though, so maybe that contributed to my choice as well.
Really has a "first hack" feel. Just about dismissed it before happening to skip to the much more interesting Wily stages. Seems pretty neat, but they really need to use fewer bolton and nuttons.
i can't go through the needle man doc robot stage because of one mf called doc air man, everytime i encounter him i'm running out of HP and the soundtracks of this rom hack are the best thing about this hack.

Mega Man 4 Voyage is the Anglophone equivalent of Rockman 4 Minus Infinity.

What’s the music on Shadow Man’s stage from?
The music composer's ears must be something else to keep the high pitch for Airman's theme from Rockman World 2(MM2GB).

A challenge hack to be sure. Like SMB2j, which many of Howard's staff (of Nintendo Power)actually called a mere romhack of SMB1--back in the 90s.
