Hi! When you use the smart things app to connect to Hue, the process it takes you through is one of linking up with your Hue bridge, so I'm thinking that trying to control the bulbs without the bridge is not an option no
@@NewHomeTricks actually I have been using Hue light with just Samrtthings hub alone without the hue bridge. just add hue light bulbs and light strip as ZLL (Zigbee light link) devices.
@@GrimAbstract I never had issue with Philip's hue light bulbs , I did with some other zigbee bulbs (osram/lightify) which ironically official supported
Under 'add devices manually', choose Light Bulbs. Then select Philips Hue and the smart things app should start searching for your hub automatically. Follow the instructions on screen to discover your hub. Note that if there is anything on your network blocking the Smartthings hub from seeing your hue hub, it can cause problems with discovery. I initially had problems due to an overly sophisticated network switch getting in the way!
After an hour messing around I found out that you have to buy the SmartThings Hub at £100!!!! then connect hue lighting hub to this. Getting very expensive now!!!
I have the Hue Bridge and the SmartThings Hub. In the SmartThings app, it successfully connected to the Hue bridge, but sadly does not populate any of my 19 Phillips Hue bulbs. The message in SmartThings "connected successfully" to the Hue bridge is baffling. Where the f are the 19 lights?
Great work! Yes would like a classic app version of this video.
A piece of advice, you need the Samsung HUB bridge to connect to Philips bridge, it wont work if you dont have it.
Yeah thanks mate! Would have been great if Leaster from GTA V would have told me that before I sat here for an hour trying to do this.
Does this work with Netflix app on the Samsung TV ?
@@CMDR_Birb NO
My guy it works
Can I add philips hue lights without having the philips hue hub?
so philips bridge is still required, and can't be replaced by smartthings hub, right? thansk

Trying to do ambi light with hue and Samung LSP 9T Beamer. Is this even possible?
It says I need to first add a hub. The Philip's hue isn't under the hub tab. Any suggestions?

Not possible, you need a hub.

Does this work with Netflix app ? If I have both Samsung hub and Philips hub, can Netflix control the hue lighting ?

@@pierrewanga9402 this sucks
@@mariob8599 Yeah, I just use the Phillps HUE app instead. I also use Google Assistant; it would've been great if smart things worked.
Philips Hue devices are supported in the US, UK, Singapore, and Chile.
So, no turn solutions for the other regions?
