May someone help me? My parents have a dog, Maltese, a boy. He is at home all the time, mostly lying somewhere. He doesn’t really has dog friends. But is it bad situation or he can live like this and it’s ok? In summer he plays in the yard.

I love how this video also brought up a point I haven’t seen much in here, strangers coming together for animals! It’s funny, I “knew” my neighbors, but when I got my pup I KNOW them and their dogs now. We have group chats and people will spastically message there going outside and we will take breaks from life! After work we all just hangout with our dogs and now about 7 of our dogs have formed a pack! Every kind of dogs too! Huskies, Labs, schnauzers, chow mixes, mutts and mix breeds! Changed my introverted life in the best of ways!

Yeah its crazy this video made it seem like the neighbors knew each other before just cause of how much they wanted thier dogs to be happy especially the women with the senior pitty she coulda been rude and say her dog is too old for her but she kept trying and it worked

They need way more than that. They need vet care, training and socialization, exercise, mental stimulation, companionship of humans and/or dogs, and to live in a loving environment.
And the dogs are smart too!

As someone who rescued a pup that never got properly socialized, I can really relate with this one. Especially since his best friends also happen to be my neighbors pups.

I cannot overstate enough how beneficial it is to introduce an older dog to a younger one. I had my boy for ten years before I (unexpectedly) took in a family member's 1 year old pup when they could no longer take care of him. My old boy used to spend almost all day just sleeping on the couch and I thought it was because of his age. Turns out he simply didn't have much else to do outside of our walks and the moment I brought in the pup he was up and bounding about the backyard together. Everyday they play I'm amazed how much energy old boy still has in him, and he's a great mentor to the pup.
I completely agree with you. This is the same thing that happened in our house. Our old dog was slow and weak from age and from a bout with valley fever. We got a 1yr old very hyper shelter puppy and now our older dog sleeps much less and plays with puppy as much as he can. Its been so lovely to watch.

@@larocdokarnap3227 you can keep your cat on a leash when you go outside/ keep them inside and feed them vegan cat food to prevent all that (and of course play with them a lot to let their energy out in a healthy way)

I'm really glad these pitties met. One was nearing its end, the other severely depressed. The love for each other brought joy to Ginger and longevity to Chloe. Dogs are such a blessing, we continue to this day learning how to be compassionate and loving. But we have a long way to go.

Ginger is a very special and beautiful dog - has human-like emotions. Chloe was overwhelmed with Ginger’s high energy at first but she wagged her tail - a sign of “I’m good - just need some space right now.” Ginger is the mayor of goodwill. Such a phenomenal dog and what a great relationship blossomed between 2 dogs and 2 unrelated people! Home run. ❤️🐕
Ginger doesn't have "human-like" emotions. Ginger is an animal, as are humans. That's why we share the same feelings.

I get it, senior dogs who are used to just being with their family often can't get used to a puppies energy, but sometimes they do warm up! Sometimes the older dog takes the role of a parent, our senior resident dog was drooling because she was so happy sometimes to have puppies around to take care of, it's really beautiful to see.
I'm so glad Chloe gets to experience the twilight years of her life with a new friend, and I'm sure the energy that Ginger brings will actually add more happy months and hopefully years to her life :)

The first interaction was actually quite good, the light growl is normal, the older dog wants space and the puppy needed a cue to give it, dogs are going to regulate each other, it’s totally normal. Nothing I saw in the older dogs body language remotely suggested aggression.
Yes even snapping if it isn't lunging is just a form of firm communication not meant to hurt, just get her point across. Meeting outside is always less tense than inside one dog's territory.
Ya I totally agree! I saw nothing but communication/correction, like setting boundaries... Outside was probably better in general, glad the humans did not stand in the way of this friendship
Yeah dogs are very good at communicating and setting boundaries. They are also really good at communicating with humans and it just takes some humans some time to learn the body language of a dog.
Yea. I didn’t think she was aggressive either. But she’s a pitt and people get so nervous around them. Sometimes as an owner, you feel the need to overly watch them and make sure no one is uncomfortable because it can lead to disaster even if it isn’t the dogs fault. Especially if socialization is an issue. So I get why Ginger’s owner was worried. But I loved that they never gave up giving them both a chance!
first your dogs are best friends then your kids are best friends. this is the best possible neighbor relationship

I've got an American Bully. He's 22 months old and loves to play. He gets along and plays with all other dogs just fine... unless they try to dominate him.

@@jeffreylindsey1757 I rescued him from our local shelter when he was 9 months old. They and my vet told me he was a "pitbull mix". Out of curiosity to know what he was mixed with, I did the Embark DNA test. He is 100% American Bully back to his great grandparents. I had no idea what that was, so I had to research it. The breed is recognized by many, but still not by the AKC. Not sure why, and I don't care... he's neutered and it was love at first sight, anyway.

But I think you got her all wrong in both your scenario or assessments. 😄 Speaking as a black person, I think I can comfortably say that white people are more likely to have a dog living inside of the home ( rather than on the outside) than black people would. I didn't grow up with a dog living in the house. It was something totally unheard of. These days, things have changed. You see more black people living with their dogs and I too have come around in my thinking. Learning that they can be kept clean and have personalities and love and can be a valuable asset to any home. I'm thinking about getting a Pit too. 😜😁

I didn't notice she was black. Reading some of the replies, I understand why she think she needs to say such a thing. But it's generalising all over again.
