I think it would be helpful to say opposite reciprocal instead of negative reciprocal when finding the perpendicular slope. If the slope is already negative and you want the perpendicular slope, you might get confused. My teacher always advices to say opposite reciprocal.

I think you will be interested in what other way you can solve quadratic equations (it can only be used when a is 1): x^2+4x-12=0 by the theorem, the inverse of Vieta's theorem: [ x1 + x2 = -b; x1 * x2 = c] x1+x2 = -4 x1 * x2 = -12 and now we need to find such numbers instead of x1 and x2 so that they fit into both equations : x1=-6 and x2=2 -6+2=-4 (right) -6*2=-12 (right), So x1 = -6 and x2=2. If you figure it out, you can solve the equations in this way in a couple of seconds:)
Don't mind me asking but for the first formula, isn't y2-y1 over x2-x1 instead of y1-y2 over x1-21or are they the same cuz like I had been taught with this y2-y1 over x2-x1.

Still works but then you are finding the x intercepts
The slope formula is wrong. It’s y2-y1 divided by x2-x1.
It’s arbitrary, both versions are correct. Try it and you’ll see.

Look at the top part of the formula, if you substitute x1 as 3 you get (x - 3) which is on the bottom formula; you’d have to add 3 to x to get x=-3
