  • We take our modified Humvee with a troop carrier stand up canvas top to the Knik Glacier in Alaska to bring in the new year. We made good use of the diesel heater and as many creature comforts as possible. Thank you to Jay and his wife for hosting the trip as well as all the local 4x4 people that came out and made it a party!

      I'm happy it is headed in the right direction. I'm thinking Connector trail to the swing for the next trip.

      Thank you. Making the video is easy. Editing sucks your life away. But I’m trying to get faster at it.

    Thanks for the idea about the trailer hitch rack. Idk why I didn’t think of it. May use that with my M997A2 to store fuel for camping.

      Yep. Total game changer. And if it had a lift to it that would be better for extreme off road

      Have you seen the ones where the hitch portion comes out and then goes upwards thereby raising the platform a bit?

      @@Idaho_Humvee yes. And that would be the best way to go. But less space under the spare tire.

      Yep I wasn’t sure I had good video to use. After going back and looking at the phone, the dash cam and GoPro I realized I had good content.

    Man that looks so cool and so fun! Do you get much snow blown into the bed while your driving? All the gear/bedding pretty well sealed up?

    • @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures
      @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures  5 місяців тому +1

      No major issue with drift snow ❄️ n the bed. Lots of drafty areas though with the canvas. But we have found if temps are not much below 20 the heater can keep up. I’m planning another trip that will involve some fairly tricky trail driving with a camping site on a high plateau overlooking Wasilla.

    Why did you choose to lower the tire pressure this time versus the tire chains?

    • @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures
      @McSpeedAlaskanAdventures  5 місяців тому +1

      I had intel that the trail was in good shape. There are no hard elevations on this run. So chains weren’t needed. The lower tire pressure really helps smooth the ride with extra cushion.
