When doing mentor roulette it automatically changes your icon to battle crown no matter what you have set to normally. So most folks you saw were NOT doing mentor roulette 😮
Did they change it? When I did mine (back in SB mind you) it was the non-specified crown. Battle/crafting/pvp mentor are more specific to let sprouts know who to ask. Battle mentor also only needs combat classes to 90, some commends and the role quests, while nonspecified crown needs both kinds of mentor to unlock (crafting and battle) Haven't played story for a while so I'm a few duties off from literally just queueing mentor to check myself rn
@@keo549 the thing is, mentor roulettes only requires the battle crown (and to have cleared basically every bit of content you can queue for), and the generic crown requires you to earn both battle and crafter/gatherer crown. While I'm not sure if it's changed or not, when I got my Astrope during ShB/EW I noticed that it forced me into the battle crown, even if I had the generic one when doing mentor roulettes
If you are not sure if someone queued for mentor roulette vs just has the battle mentor crown on all the time, open your social tab to see party members. Players will have the "in duty" little red swords icon, while only mentor roulette people will have the battle mentor icon instead.
@keo549 they changed it in Shadowbringers when Battle Mentor and Trade Mentor were split into two separate things with different requirements. I really hate that it forces the crown on you tbh because when i was on the grind it just made people point out my fuckups more
when i was grinding every job up to level 50, i actually did my guildhest roulette every day, and tried to clear every hest on every job from ARR and HVW. you get first time bonuses per job, and the gil and xp adds up quick considering how absurdly fast they are. dont neglect it, sprouts! its good for sprouts! helps you grow up to be a big strong mentor or something!
I did it for a long time for player commendations as well as the items you mentioned. If you do it as a tank early in the week, players will often give you the commendation as you are on the top of the list and they are trying to get the challenge log bonus that resets on Tuesday.
Oh Lord, I actually saw you doing this earlier in the week - I was of course paying no attention to who else was in the party and only noticed during commendations at the end, when I did a quick double-take at a familiar portrait and went, "Wait, isn't that...?" And yeah, I have to admit I was already guessing it was for an obscure achievement video.
Guildhests are in the Challenge log, so ppl are prob running 10 for the mini exp chunk. They are fast, easy and you get a couple hundred K for the log. :P Also, fun fact, you can fail the turtle guildhest if the turtle dies (had that happen a couple times due to dps attacking it like a candy filled piñata and refusing to stop)
I once had the tank be the only one who was attacking the turtle, he wouldnt respond to chat and would run right back in when rescued. It was the slowest, saddest failure. Also when I get a guildhest for mentor roulette im happy to get a quick duty complete
Had that only happening to me once...and I was the idiot who attacked the turtle 😂 It was the first time for me doing this and I was so focused that I didn't realize the others stopped attacking. So yeah...😂
Yup i would use them to level lower classes. You get a bonus for first time completion with using the class first time in that mission. So the exp was decent with bonus, but again only really for lower classes
The thing about guildhests is that they were made _long_ before Hall of the Novice or the pre-Satasha tutorial were implemented. And they're not quite only about teaching you basic things, they're a bit more like puzzle fights. Which I kinda like. Buso (Annoy the Void) has adds that burst into flames that buff him if they're killed, which teaches you about interacting with on-field elements (like, say, the second-last boss in Rabanastre). Or you can just weather the adds and burn him down. Then there's the infamous quintuplet demons, the bomb queen one is actually great fun because you're dodging explosions all over the place while the puddings try to put you to sleep... I actually did hop into roulette a lot a while back, it was a decent way to squeeze out a little extra experience for the jobs that start at level 1. Plus the first-time bonus is actually _per class_ for guildhests, so when I unlocked (for example) rogue/ninja, I could get those experience bonuses for each guildhest all over again even though I'd cleared them on other classes. Nowadays though, they're much less helpful...
The ARR and HS max level hard dungeons had quite a few interactive mechanics too that you would wipe to if you didn't do them. I miss actually having to care about that stuff.
Femroe players pretending to be unique is always funny to me because they always have the same face. Elezen also feel significantly more rare than Femroe. I got the most unwanted attention when I played a Femroe too which was annoying, ppl obsessed with my character constantly which just felt annoying
By the way, I actually DID keep track of all the gil rewards from doing these guildhests, and the total came out to 113,058. That's quite a lot of gil, as you can imagine. What should I spend it on?
I once got in a random duty party with Cider. This man is always on some kind of grind. Nice to see a streamer represent Crystal for once not just visiting for "RP"
As a Fem Roe since my first day in 14 til now, I always make sure to give any other Fem Roe I see a ton of love and we almost always friend one another after runs, it's beautiful
@@yukonexpatriate4017 I hated it when I played on, I got a ton of unwanted attention Femroe players/ fans are some of the horniest. And some of them also have a weird superiority complex and can't stop shit talking other players
@@jag764 Yeah, there are a lot of horny femroe players. Two sides of the same coin with the mutually supportive subcommunity, perhaps? And I haven't picked up on the weird superiority complex myself, although I suppose that's liable to happen in an uncommonly played race/gender combination in a multiplayer game.
@@jag764 heh yeah its p bad, I started with fem au ra and had the worst beginner experience. Switch to male middy, got so lonely that I then switch to fem lala. I finally settled with lala, I was able to make friends and keep most creeps away
Your look at 14:03 is perfect. "You're seeing this too, right?" Please don't stop making this! This is perfect in every way and instills a new vigor to go achievement hunting. Thanks!
As a femroe player this episode has been my favorite. And yes, we do deserve the thigh slider. Cant be bricked up top and leave the yams undercooked ya know
My current plan is to unlock all the guildhests and then hope that I get all 200 guildhests while completing Mentor Roulette in order to minimize the amount of instances I need to complete.
as a mentor, I can tell you that you absolutely will get it, with ease. of 270 mentor roulettes run so far, 65 of mine have been guildhests, and I actively avoid them (I stop queueing when I get 2 back to back guildhests with the same tank/healer cos it means they're comm farming and will end up pulling me in there for the next 5-10 duties lol)
@@Taevarth meh, I don't get many extremes to begin with, and all of them are ARR extremes, and frankly, assuming I have the time, I would rather do the extreme. I'm not doing mentor roulette for the mount; I do it mostly because I find getting dropped into a random grab bag of stuff fun, and I like having an excuse to do old content. I also regularly join fresh prog savage parties to help out when I can; helping with an extreme is no biggie, especially with echo and the level of gearing making it easier even synced.
Another week, another entertaining video. About that Fem Roe to Catgirl pipeline post ARR bit, I actually switched to Fem Highlander from Fem Roe and am in love with my char now. Also lol I noticed I was in the s rank party at 27:15 and didn’t even notice ya there at the time. Keep up the great work!
These have continued to be magical. Guildhests are a godsend when you start farming mentor roulette. I expect a small upswing during spaces between patches like the farming and leveling you're doing as well as challenge log bonuses whenever we get level increases from expansions. The Hunt is eternal. Major congrats on your Life of Adventure! (as well as unique S ranks and total Hests done)
Since last week's video, I have crafted my skybuilders' frypan, crafted my 1000th collectable, completed my 150th custom delivery with Kurenai, completed my 90th custom delivery with Adkiragh and unlocked the first tier WHM Manderville relic. Currently sitting at #87 for achievement points on Adamantoise. The grind lives on for all us achievement hunters. Interestingly, I did start working on guildhests a few weeks ago. I broke the 100th maybe two weeks or so ago. Still a long road to go for 200, but thankfully they stopped at 200 and not 500 like they did so much back then. Also, yes, I think mentor roulette videos would be interesting.
Talk about coincidence - I first watched this video after a play session where I unlocked guildhests for the first time. I've been playing 2.5 years and have finished the current MSQ. Friend and I are using them for our challenge log to level up other classes. Loving watching your progress :)
Pro tip for guildhests- if you pull the boss to the starting NPC, you can talk to them and claim the rewards without waiting for the fade-to-black teleport that takes a while
@@craigwheeler4760 haha, don't think I can claim credit for that. I'm pretty sure at some point in the video he asked if people would be interested in that kind of series, and I just wanted to voice my opinion!
just coming back bc this is one of my favorite videos on the series, but literally I'm so glad you do this bc it reignited my love for the game after having put it down for about 6-7 months! I'm working on the fate achievements mostly and I just finished all the ones I need to do for Lakeland :)
My friend linked this to me since I'm the Deep Canal Raider Wonder Woman Femroe on Diabolos. This was entertaining as hell, will def. be subscribing. Thanks!
since the mentor roulette forces your icon to be at least battle mentor (if you have the full crown set it stays), it's interesting how most of your comrades were, in fact, just normal queues.
Love this 😁 Also yes! Would love to see you doing mentor roulette, especially for the glam review Also, any mentors who got pulled in were definitely thanking you for guildhests - They are the "easy +1 towards 2000 roulettes" of the Mentor roulette ^^
Ah, guildhests. If you had let me know, I would have gladly joined you in getting the achievement, since I need 100 guildhests for the PS4 trophy list. Have a happy holiday season, Cider, and I'll see your next video in 2024. We should definitely team up to tackle Dawntrail MSQ, one Lala to another. Of course, I am thinking about making myself a cat girl with my free Fantasia. XD
Another femroe here holding the line against the catgirl horde. Been a big green lady since I started and I have no plans to change that. I never knew I was farming comms this whole time! My achievement highlights for the week: - Level 80 Leatherworker and Dragoon - 20 unique Fisher leves and 20 total Fieldcraft leves - Skybuilders' hatchet acquired - 8 FATE achievements, including Formidable and the 13-step-long Stormblood FATE chain - 300 collectables gathered - 200 A-ranks killed
I don't even play FF14 and just enjoy watching your vids. Make whatever you're comfortable with making that doesn't drive you mad. I'll watch as soon as I get t he chance regardless. So make those guildhest vids.
I'd definitely love to see a mentor roulette series! Mentor roulettes were some of the most fun I had running content. I apparently picked a bad time to do my Astrope grind though, 'cause it was during the WoW exodus + pandemic, which meant a lot of sprouts who didn't know not to queue for extremes. The amount of ARR and HW extremes I got during that time was staggering. lol I would say hopefully you don't get that many, but honestly the extremes with 7 sprouts was really fun!
Thanks for the series, it started me back up on my chievo grind, focusing on cleaning up some chievos in my gathering section that should not take long. (Not fishing). Also by checking lalachievements it confirmed a suspicion I had about my preferred title "Featherfall's Finest Miner", which I had long suspected was my rarest but couldn't prove it. It is in fact the 34th rarest title, mostly cause it requires endless Diadem grinding, I got it in the fight for Miner Sainthood during Phase 3 of the Restoration, by grinding for 10 days straight, 8 hours a day. Note this was in 2020 and I very unemployed so I could do that. And the title has only gotten harder since they nerfed the point value of Grade 3 materials (something they should have undone after phase 4 was done imo, the points don't actually do anything anymore).
I think Guildhests are actually fantastic, and it's a huge shame they were neglected after 2.0 launch. They were fun scenarios built around teaching a lot of the game's fundamentals. Most people don't even know they exist, and obviously they are utterly unrewarding to do. I think it would be great if they added to them, and made encounters that are a low pressure way to learn broadly used mechanics and patterns. Give me a Limit Cut guildhest! But I mean we don't even have this kind of tutorial thing for Gaze attacks or Tower soaks. Players just trial and error stumble into stuff at random points in their journey.
It’s strange, too-some of the guildhests actually have very unique mechanics that are no longer found anywhere else in the game. The turtle, for example. Or that one where you have to kill 5 identical enemies within a couple seconds of each other or they’ll respawn. Honestly, the only other places you find that kind of experimentation with regard to boss fights are in optional ARR dungeons.
Guildheists will be removed with 7.0 because they got neglected for so long, which is a shame. I too think there should be something like a hall of the Novice after the 2.0 MSQ where they teach you commonly used mechanics like multihit-tankbusters, towersoaks etc
Pre-50 you only have leveling roulette, so guildhest roulette daily was good then for the small xp bonus since they're so fast and the xp matters more the lower level you are. That or commendation farming like you said, but I also did that on healer spamming 180 raids needed for bozjan relic weapons too.
I like doing guildhests on alt jobs as soon as they become available. You get bonus xp the first time you complete each guildhest per job, so it can be a nice boost when there's not much else you can do to level besides hunting log and FATEs.
I was very caught off guard when you broke into Papa Roach that I actually let out an audible laugh. Lol Also, PLEASE DO MENTOR ROULETTE!!! I would love to see you do them in your style of video!
i found your 1st of this series randomly and this is some of the best ff14 content ive seen on youtube i hope you keep it up i need this in my life much love from Australia!
Just wanted to let you know that thanks to you, I found out there are a lot more guildhests than I thought, and currently I am working my way through them.
I would love mentor roulette videos! The astrope is one of my lofty ffxiv goals, so being able to watch someone else also on the same grind would make it a lot easier. Thank you for all the great content!
These are really fun, I love watching them and I'm already looking forward to the next one each week lol. Would definitely watch a series dedicated just for mentor roulette memes too
How to leave duties crazy fast: Bind a button to the confirm and duty menu in keybinds and make sure you have it set so cutscenes skip if you've seen them. Duty ends open duty menu, press confirm button, click leave - the option will always appear on the same spot on your screen. Done right you can leave less then half a second after a duty finishes.
You know. I only have seen one mentor streaming mentor roulettes. I wouldn't mind seeing another stream them. I myself have been hesitant on being a mentor. Cause for the most part I feel like I will be judged if I don't do my job and show n00bs how to play. I have done a few guild heist roulettes cause I wanted to do more than just the other roulettes or I didn't have the time to do the longer ones and ran them instead. Also where you get the title for Kyubi tamer is Obtain the Fife of Nine Tails. It gives the title. :3 Also I find you are very entertaining and really make my day. I have had a miserable week and this helped. Thank yo for making content that is very funny and awesome!
I do que guildhest roulette regularly. Even though the rewards are tiny, it's really fast and the rewards are at least more than nothing. Even the seals can help fund squadrons and ventures.
The hardest guildhest is still the turtle. If the tank doesn't want to pull the turtle to the gas, then you'll be stuck until it dies. I remember actually doing guildhests for experience in ARR. A few of them teach you mechanics for dungeons at a similar level that even then were ignorable. The first-time bonus per job, quick queues, and lack of roulettes until 2.1 meant that you had very few options for leveling. FATE grinding was the most popular since leves were limited and duty finding could be time-consuming.
The one sorta nice thing about Guildhest roulette is you do get a large bonus the first time you do each on any given class, so it is a decent enough source of early gil and exp. As for queuing for it these days I only ever get queued into it through Mentor roulette and I'm so thankful it isn't a Duty Finder Extreme every time it happens. Also I think that one bright yellow glam at 20:54 was supposed to be Milia Rage from Guilty Gear
So this marks my dipping my toes into big fish. So, for some context, I did the Starlight seasonal event, and I contribute to the GamerEscape wiki, so I abandoned the quest a couple times to check things, like optional NPC dialogue I'd forgot or what happens if you talk to the kids in Ul'dah in a different order (spoilers, nothing; if you talk to the kid by the BLU vendors first, he still gives you the present to deliver; I was so sure there'd be a flag to have whichever kid you talked to last be the one to give you the present...), and in the process, I accidentally abandoned Beast of Brewer's Beacon. Years ago, while I was still in 2.X MSQ, I'd caught the titanic sawfish and then, seeing there was yet more difficult fishing to do, and not really being properly geared or leveled or having any idea what I was doing, I muted the quest to do later. So I set up a Lalachievements profile, marked all the fish I'd caught, and then imported that into Carbuncle Plushy. Honestly, it's almost overwhelming, how many fish there are to catch. It's sort of disrupted the rhythm I had going. There's *always* some fish window up. For now, I've pinned all the big fish involved in Beast of Brewer's Beacon and Feast of Famine, and hidden all the big fish from HW onward. When none of the fish I've pinned are up, I scroll through the windows looking for 20+ minute windows. And when no appealing windows are up, I go after some of the always-up big fish. So far, I've picked up Go Big or Go Home I (drowned sniper), I Like Big Fish and I Cannot Lie, Go Big or Go Home II (giant takitaro, nepto dragon, crystal perch, faerie queen, junkmonger, pirate's bane, mahar, shonisaurus, helicoprion, coelacanthus, navigator's brand, canavan, kuno the killer, endoceras, and namitaro), and Imagine Dragon. I also picked up Good Things Come to Those Who Bait: La Noscea II and Good Things Come to Those Who Bait: Thanalan I incidentally. Doing my weekly custom deliveries, picked up The Customer Is Always Right: Ameliance III. In the course of regular play, I accrued enough causality to grab another EW relic, thus Hamm(er)ing It Up: Manderville Torquetum. I'm pretty close to having every first step EW relic now (just missing WAR, GNB, and MNK). I also managed to catch Archaeotania while doing FATEs in the Tempest, and got Another World, Another Turn.
The Big Fish title is a very daunting mount to climb. I think the most important part of that process is to just... enjoy it. When I went through that grind, there are two things that made it much more enjoyable to me. One, I just find it relaxing. Two, and most importantly, it's when you start meeting other people that are also trying to catch the same fish as you, and then you strike a conversation. And then you see them again in another fishing spot a few days later. It's the nerdiest of nerdy grinds in the game, and there's someone, just like you, who's doing it. There's a connection, you know? So you start cheering each other on. Man, that was my favorite part of the Big Fish grind back in the days. Congratulations on some of the hard ARR fish such as Namitaro and Kuno the Killer! But the grind has only begun... Definitely go at your pace though. Trying hard and overdoing the grind can kill one's motivation in no time.
Honestly, I think I've been rather lucky thus far. Namitaro's the only one so far that's given me much trouble, and even that is paltry compared to the horror stories big fishers tell about the Ruby Dragon or whatever. I probably spent 3.5 hours over the course of 3 or 4 days trying for Namitaro, and he's the only fish that it took double-digit bites to catch so far (in this case, 10). Definitely going to have to pace myself, though.
Yeah, the three names I think that have stood out to me, between war stories from a friend of a friend and people commiserating on the subreddit, are Ruby Dragon, Cinder Surprise, and Warden of the Seven Hues. Dunno if those three are actually the hardest, or if I'm just biased towards remembering names that aren't some variation of Ichthyosaur, but those are the three names I associated with big fish suffering.
@@Rotaretilbo The big problem with Warden of the Seven Hues is catching the prerequisite fish to trigger intuition. If you're patient and willing to wait another cycle (a full ingame day, about an hour and a half of real time) by not leaving the map to keep progress on the fish you've caught, it's a lot easier to actually get the intuition. Actually catching the Warden once you have intuition isn't bad. This one does need prep to really understand the time window of all of the required fish for intuition though. And your reward is a nice fish for your aquarium, or a few million gil by selling it on the market for people that want it in their aquarium. Some other troublesome big fish for me were: Charibenet, Lancetfish, Raimdellopterus, Ealad Skaan, Stethacanthus.
Awesome, I think I found myself in your video 😄I was hoping I would, I saw you in an S rank the other day. I was partied with you for Sphatika around 19:33
So a few reasons to do guildhests: there's the daily roulette which gives decent exp for jobs below level 50. This is especially nice since below 50 the only other roulettes you have access to are the leveling roulette and Frontlines. The guldhest roulette is also available at level 10 as opposed to 16 for the leveling roulette or 30 for Frontlines roulette There's also the weekly challenge log, which is a lump of exp. Once again comes in handy for getting lower level jobs up faster. On top of that, there's an exp bonus per job the first time you complete a given guildhest for all jobs released through SB. Long story short, they help speed up the process of getting to level 50 (I know more efficient options exist, but variety helps keep me somewhat sane)
Nothing like the whiplash of seeing a very similar warrior portrait at 14:05 I ran into them doing leveling roulette like 3 days ago and used them as an argument for why I am not a limsan.
Really love your videos. Btw how do you find S rank hunts? Im in the Centurio discord but when i get the ping and go to the S-rank spot the hunt its already finished (there are always a lot of people that get there way sooner and i don't understand how they know it before me seeing the ping in the Centurio discord)
Ive been a FemRoe since ARR's Launch, never used a fantasia for anything but eye color! I will stand with my FemRoe Sisters to help other FemRoes to stay Roe!
On mentor roulette videos, and this series in general- they have been really fun to watch and really good for background audio on repeat. Would love to see the horrors of mentor roulette!
Seasoned Tracker is the only achievement I've really chased in this game, it's been my title since I earned it in early Heavensward. Watching this has made me wanna aim to get all the other hunt achievements as well!
If I remember correctly, Guildhests have first-time completion bonuses per class so they're actually pretty good single infusions of xp while leveling the ARR classes to 50.
I run the daily guildhest because you can finish it in about a minute (if you get a low level one) so the time to exp ratio works out well. It also gives me something different to do when levelling alt jobs up to 50. Since you don't have access to trial and raid roulette, your only other options are running dungeons over and over while fate grinding.
Oh hey, I saw you a couple times during the guildhest grind (and showed up a few times, I'm S.R. bunboy)! Yeah, guildhests sure do... exist. They're barely worth doing even at sub-30, but it is a daily bonus for leveling I guess.
I was so excited to level everything up back in ShB where the reward was a mount instead, I even did the grind with the FATEs for to get the little minion version of that mount. Then Endwalker rolled around and the reward was the helm you can't even dye and it was so disappointing. I still leveled everything though because of course I did, haha. Love these videos, they're pretty fun since I dropped off FFXIV recently because busy IRL
I was nervous about playing in parties when I first started playing. My best friend advised me to use guildhests to build my confidence. It worked. I now have all jobs at 90 and I still queue in for guildhests to help sprouts and I always give my comms to the sprouts.
Watching you do the Guildhests triggered me to see how far along I was, remembering I'd probably haven't done a lot... I was mistaken, I only need 3 more for the achievement and I've never even farmed them for the achievement XD
I queued for guildhests when I was still leveling everything- for the sake of the experience bonus from the completion log. Especially if I'd already burned all the bigger ones. Not anything to sneeze at really if you just pop a few of them while grinding something else like FATEs or gathering. Which is why you might see higher level people in even guildhests. There's a lot of bonus experience to be had from the Completion Log, and it scales with level so the log is still worth it in even the last bracket. They reset once a week.
5:18 I do, mostly for the dailies and weekly reward, at least the one for doing 3 a week, its easy to do, takes little time, and worth a little exp at least. It is not worth a lot that is for sure, but it still adds up. Once I got all the jobs past 50 though, I stopped doing them as often because after that there are more than 2 options for daily roulettes.
I wanted to maybe get into doing mentor roulette stuff but part of the unlock requirements are doing all the extremes and I don't have that energy, especially now that not unlocking them stops them from being put in your Wondrous Tails rotation, so now I don't even see it as a frustratingly locked roulette anymore.
I love how this guildhest video became 1/4 guildhests, 1/4 hunting, and 1/2 femroe appreciation. On that note, I am now seriously considering dusting off the femroe design I saved ages ago for Dawntrail.
I queue for guildhests on occasion. When I see that they are in need of a healer. I do it to help the poor DPS who have probably been sitting in the queue for the last hour waiting for a healer. And then I keep queuing until I don't get any more insta-queues. (I.e. the DPS queue has been cleared) I also do it because they are really easy to heal and it makes me feel good about myself, lmao. Also, quick side note, I believe guildhests came out before hall of the novice. Hall of the Novice trainings were introduced when the level skips came out.
Idk if anyone said it yet, but if a mentor queues for mentor roulette with their mentor icon turned off, it is automatically turned back on for the roulette duty. So supposed people joining you were just... normal people lol
at this point I just queue for Guildhest roulette just for the extra gil for doing it as a daily. Particularly I always do it as the "Adventurer In need" role for the additional gil that comes with it. It might not be a whole lot, but doing every roulette for their daily and as the "Adventurer In Need" role gets me anywhere between 200k to 300k gil depending what Dungeons/Trials/Raids pop. While I'm not really looking to make my character rich and don't need the exp as an Omni90, having the gil is more for in case I want to buy stuff off the MB from content I don't want to do, like the Criterion Dungeons for example.
I did Guildhest early ARR for level 1 jobs. The entey level is 10 in roulettes and you get a bonus per job for each hest you finish 1st time completion so it was easy exp and although worthless at higher levels its definitely good for early levels especially because of the Company Seals you need alot of to unlock promotions GC ranking that lets you turn in gear for GC seals, you can avoid Fates altogether this way
I thought I recognized those exceptional eyebrows when I was doing guildhests via Mentor Roulette. Happy to tank for ya, even if it was only for 90 seconds.
When doing mentor roulette it automatically changes your icon to battle crown no matter what you have set to normally. So most folks you saw were NOT doing mentor roulette 😮
And I reiterate that it's very specifically the battle crown. If the crown doesn't have a sword with it, they're not doing mentor roulettes
Did they change it? When I did mine (back in SB mind you) it was the non-specified crown. Battle/crafting/pvp mentor are more specific to let sprouts know who to ask. Battle mentor also only needs combat classes to 90, some commends and the role quests, while nonspecified crown needs both kinds of mentor to unlock (crafting and battle)
Haven't played story for a while so I'm a few duties off from literally just queueing mentor to check myself rn
@@keo549 the thing is, mentor roulettes only requires the battle crown (and to have cleared basically every bit of content you can queue for), and the generic crown requires you to earn both battle and crafter/gatherer crown. Players will have the "in duty" little red swords icon, while only mentor roulette people will have the battle mentor icon instead.
@keo549 they changed it in Shadowbringers when Battle Mentor and Trade Mentor were split into two separate things with different requirements.

No one wants to be a mentor, not even mentors want to be mentors
I did it for a long time for player commendations as well as the items you mentioned. If you do it as a tank early in the week, players will often give you the commendation as you are on the top of the list and they are trying to get the challenge log bonus that resets on Tuesday.
Same, its a good source of exp early on and you can enter it at level 10 unlike dungeons at 15
You have just 2 roulettes of course you will do it, it's a no choice thing. Unlike from level 50 onwards.
Oh Lord, I actually saw you doing this earlier in the week - I was of course paying no attention to who else was in the party and only noticed during commendations at the end, when I did a quick double-take at a familiar portrait and went, "Wait, isn't that...?"

Guildhests are in the Challenge log, so ppl are prob running 10 for the mini exp chunk. They are fast, easy and you get a couple hundred K for the log. :P
Also, fun fact, you can fail the turtle guildhest if the turtle dies (had that happen a couple times due to dps attacking it like a candy filled piñata and refusing to stop)
I once had the tank be the only one who was attacking the turtle, he wouldnt respond to chat and would run right back in when rescued. It was the slowest, saddest failure.
Also when I get a guildhest for mentor roulette im happy to get a quick duty complete
Daily roulette, plus a few when your FC puts a bonus on seals and you're making a neat lil bag of gil as well.
Had that only happening to me once...and I was the idiot who attacked the turtle 😂 It was the first time for me doing this and I was so focused that I didn't realize the others stopped attacking. So yeah...😂
Basically that is there only use case. The weekly exp is not bad. Not great either. But not bad.

My current plan is to unlock all the guildhests and then hope that I get all 200 guildhests while completing Mentor Roulette in order to minimize the amount of instances I need to complete.
I am also doing this, but largely unintentionally.
as a mentor, I can tell you that you absolutely will get it, with ease. of 270 mentor roulettes run so far, 65 of mine have been guildhests, and I actively avoid them (I stop queueing when I get 2 back to back guildhests with the same tank/healer cos it means they're comm farming and will end up pulling me in there for the next 5-10 duties lol)
@@JelisW I'd see this as a win because the worst scenario would be getting Shinryu Extreme, synced
Wish I cared about FF14 achievements outside of the mount rewards.
Talk about coincidence - I first watched this video after a play session where I unlocked guildhests for the first time. I've been playing 2.5 years and have finished the current MSQ. Friend and I are using them for our challenge log to level up other classes.
Loving watching your progress :)
Pro tip for guildhests- if you pull the boss to the starting NPC, you can talk to them and claim the rewards without waiting for the fade-to-black teleport that takes a while
I'd love a series on Mentor Roulette!
I can only imagine the chaos and comedy that could come from it, especially with your sense of humor! 😁
I think you predicted the future. Check today's video. He's been doing mentor roulettes for about a month now.
Even if you have full crown set, it swaps you to battle crown.
I genuinely look forward to this series every week. It is so fun!
Love this 😁 Also yes! Would love to see you doing mentor roulette, especially for the glam review
Also, any mentors who got pulled in were definitely thanking you for guildhests - They are the "easy +1 towards 2000 roulettes" of the Mentor roulette ^^
Would love to see Mentor Roulette videos! Honestly, your videos are 100% perfect as background noise for me, Merry Christmas, Cider.
This has easily become my favourite series on UA-cam and got me back into FFXIV.

- Level 80 Leatherworker and Dragoon
- 20 unique Fisher leves and 20 total Fieldcraft leves
- Skybuilders' hatchet acquired
- 8 FATE achievements, including Formidable and the 13-step-long Stormblood FATE chain
- 300 collectables gathered
- 200 A-ranks killed
I love these videos. As a current Fem Roe, I will always be here as the 2nd tallest possible character model.
I don't even play FF14 and just enjoy watching your vids. Make whatever you're comfortable with making that doesn't drive you mad. I'll watch as soon as I get t he chance regardless. So make those guildhest vids.
Please keep these coming. It's great content, and I'm invested in the journey!
@@zirilan3398 here from the future, and Guildhests still exist in 7.0

I would absolutely love to see your progress through the Mentor Roulette achievements! I love these videos so much and look forward to them!

Also I find you are very entertaining and really make my day.
FATE grinding was the most popular since leves were limited and duty finding could be time-consuming.
had the turtle die recently, you actually **fail** the duty, I was shocked because it was the first time I'd ever seen that happen
These videos are so much fun, I always enjoy watching them
The one sorta nice thing about Guildhest roulette is you do get a large bonus the first time you do each on any given class, so it is a decent enough source of early gil and exp.
@@Rotaretilbo Ruby Dragon's pretty bad, but you haven't lived the Big Fisher life until you've gone for Cinder Surprise a dozen times.
Love that you have the quest 'Child Labor' during this video. Really suits your... stature.
Awesome, I think I found myself in your video 😄I was hoping I would, I saw you in an S rank the other day. I was partied with you for Sphatika around 19:33
I love the P8 quotes when using Flamethrower - fantastic
So a few reasons to do guildhests: there's the daily roulette which gives decent exp for jobs below level 50. This is especially nice since below 50 the only other roulettes you have access to are the leveling roulette and Frontlines. The guldhest roulette is also available at level 10 as opposed to 16 for the leveling roulette or 30 for Frontlines roulette
There's also the weekly challenge log, which is a lump of exp.
13:17 The dancing in a line _has_ to be coordinated, they even have matching outfits.
It was an honor to be considered among the Angry Baby Army™ while hunting with you. Godspeed in your future grind, o furious leader o7

Seasoned Tracker is the only achievement I've really chased in this game, it's been my title since I earned it in early Heavensward. Watching this has made me wanna aim to get all the other hunt achievements as well!
kyubi tamer title is also from getting the Kamuy of the Nine Tails for anyone wondering. you gotta get the mount from all 7 StB ex trials.

I love just watching the clock in the top right to see how much time has gone by.
Was at work when this dropped, have been looking forward to it!

Love these videos keep it up. Helps me feel motivated to do my own achievement hunting 😀👍
I dunno if you started on Mahjong yet, but I'm very excited for that
I wanted to maybe get into doing mentor roulette stuff but part of the unlock requirements are doing all the extremes and I don't have that energy, especially now that not unlocking them stops them from being put in your Wondrous Tails rotation, so now I don't even see it as a frustratingly locked roulette anymore.
Referencing Nash and Steiner math. Underrated content right there.
I love how this guildhest video became 1/4 guildhests, 1/4 hunting, and 1/2 femroe appreciation.
On that note, I am now seriously considering dusting off the femroe design I saved ages ago for Dawntrail.

Oh no, oh nonononono. We've got a new individual into Mentor Suffering.
And we welcome it with open arms
I queue for guildhests on occasion. When I see that they are in need of a healer. I do it to help the poor DPS who have probably been sitting in the queue for the last hour waiting for a healer. And then I keep queuing until I don't get any more insta-queues. (I.e. the DPS queue has been cleared)
I also do it because they are really easy to heal and it makes me feel good about myself, lmao.
Also, quick side note, I believe guildhests came out before hall of the novice. Hall of the Novice trainings were introduced when the level skips came out.
As soon as I see the thumbnail, my brain goes “not possible lol” however, his motivation inspires me to also grind points haha
You have an inhuman amount of patients my friend, keep at it
I did Guildhest early ARR for level 1 jobs.
I'm down for Mentor Roulette vids my dude!!! Your voice and humor are EPIC!!!!!!😁👍
