Bill Monroe and mac wiseman
Oh man I love this clip. . . . .
@ gloria boyd The Great Mac Wiseman, lest we forget!!
moo h
Look at Del's face. He's exuberant: Here's someone to carry on when I'm gone. The music won't die.
This music won't die as long as there's liquor and PBR in the world.
Thats exactly what I thought
Exactly...That's first thing I saw..Del's was just having fun listening to him..
I was thinking the same thing !
Dels younger shot in the arm !!!! Give him some music business advice Del !!!!
That look on the legends' faces when Billy starts singing nearly makes me cry. Delight and respect for the young fella.
Is that the old man is young at heart, or is it the young man is old?
Doesn't matter though, music transcends SO many things.
I also felt moved by what you commented on.
😊
Yeah you could tell the young man’s voice was warmin his big ol heart.
How cool is this, Del McCory Band, all suited up and slick. Billy with his hair and hippie vest.....history in the making.
Love it.
I'm sitting here grinning like a mule eating briers! This is so great on every level.
Like a baby beaver in a toothpick factory!
That smile on Del's face when Billy starts singing.
Del can rest easy when his time on earth is over knowing that Billy Strings is here to carry on the Bluegrass sound..What a talent..
To know as young man loves Bluegrass
Dell is so proud of Billy.
This. Absolutely this.
Del just hasnt aged in the last 20 years
Love how Del looks like he's having the time of his life. What a legend.
It's the best " pass the torch" thing on the Internet at the moment I feel.
The pipes on the 80 year old McCoury! Fanstastic! :)
Cain't they hurry up and figure out how to live furever or mebbe cloan a human so we can have Del furever!?
hi 😊 💕
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Chapter by Chapter / Verse by Verse !!!!!!!
@@patfal1514 you only appreciate a flower because it blooms and receeds.
How great is Del's high harmony?!
the best!
what I love is how both Billy and Del can sing and smile at the same time
🔥🔥
gorgeous!
The most high!
I keep finding myself coming back to this year after year it's still some of the best damn bluegrass I've ever heard.
❤❤😊
Me, too
Billy Strings is somehow both progressive and traditional at the same time.
That's the magic 💯🔥
He’s unexplainable. So young and so full of knowledge.
Billy Strings is the embodiment of a Bluegrass Johnny Cash an absolute living legend
Great observation people's thanks.
He gets it from his Stepdad. There a respect there that is awesome to behold.
Del said, "You gotta appreciate that guy, I tell ya" Love it!
My god.. the looks Del gives Billy -clearly approved and impressed. The looks Billy gives Dale while singing together. Those harmonies. So genuine. This is a generational delight. They brought out the best in each each other. WOW. Special.
Well said.
A Guitar guy, Billy. Doesn't get enough respect as a vocalist
And a lead vocal Dale Shows he can do it all with the best harmony's probably ever.
@@Luke-pk9fe This is very true. His voice is as high and lonesome as any of the greats, and still original. A truly rare combination to have both incredibly high caliber guitar picking with a voice to match. Excited to hear what the future brings for him....and the incredible players he's surrounded himself with in his band. Their talent is often overlooked, too.
Dale?????
What a combination,Billy singing with Del and some the Best instrument players,God made this happen,Congrats👍
I love to see Del smiling like that, it had to be a good time.
Billy stings is in the major league with these boys
Congrats Billy strings.
Bill Monroe and Del did it no better on vocals. This is perfection and and that we are alive to witness the passing of the torch.. and its amazing to hear and see!!!!
In the beginning when Billy starts singing you can see Ronnie give Del a look like that’s your influence dad.
I think Billy strings is one of the best guitar players iv ever seen i could sit and watch him play all day
I do . 😉
hi 😊 💕
This boy was born to holler!! Cheers fae the Scottish highlands
Just found this and the tears are flowing, god bless you all, greetings from Cardiff Wales uk
Unbelievable!! What an honor, to sing and play with each other. Del, one of the older greats, and Billy, what can I say?!!!
hi 😊 💕
Best banjo player, ever.
Billy Strings even throws the “C” instead of the “B” in when he does the G run....JUST like Del McCoury. Unmistakable different g run sound.
Wow Joyce, and here I thought I was a musician. I hand my mandocello and my ears to you- I totally missed that the first time through. Great catch! I went back and enjoyed that the second time around. That’s what I love about the replies section on songs like this- you can appreciate what you hear even more when others share their own interpretation of the performance. Haha, I just got so blissful and Billy’d out that I might never have noticed this without your comment. Thank you Joyce!
Anyone notice the apology to the mandolin player after Billy gets in front of him? Pure class and humility.
Yep! And that mandolin player was absolutely first class!
@@MrTruckerf Well, he's Del's son so he ought to be! Lol
Damn. This actually brought tears to my smart ass . What a combination of great Bluegrass this is .
I love the Smile on Del's face! You can tell he approves of the future of Bluegrass
This performance rates as an all-time classic.
hi 😊 💕
This brings me peace in these troubled times! Thank you Billy for carrying on this tradition
Amen brother.
are you kidding? this is fantastic!!
damn..instant goosebumps that lasted the whole song
Billy has his feet grounded in Doc Watson. Can't beat that.
Del was having a blast!
FANTASTIC !.. you can tell ol Del was really feelin' it.. spot on tenor harmony.. Billy S. never ceases to amaze me.. so much talent
The McCoury clan and Billy seem to hit it off nicely. The old school and the new blood.
To me this is like you really like hanging out with grandpa, it means more than anything else.
Who woulda thought? This is absolutely great !
I love how Billy respectfully pays homage to Del by raising his guitar up high every time he plays the signature Del McCoury G run lick on his guitar.
James Morse thanks for pointing that out
What is a g run lick?
He does that all the time, no matter who he plays with.
KathyDon C yeah, but he’s more than likely doing it here because as the comment states, that’s Del’s classic g-run.
@@blackz06 that classic 6 note run you hear as a filler the “dun dun Dunna na na”
They sound perfect together
Del is worth every dime the ticket says and then another dime! He burns it down with young folk and doesn't just do it for some credit... Most of the legends sound bad or keep going for the money. Del kept in motion like a locomotive and he isn't stopping til he's carried off to victory!
I love when a Legend plays with someone who is bound to become a Legend.
Billy is incredible from traditional to progressive.
My favourite song of the moment . Love how Billy and Del harmonise , both have powerful melodious voices. We are so lucky to have uTube is all I can say. Thanks to all the lovely musicians for sharing.
So right about YT. It really is the only place on earth to see this kind of stuff. I pray it remains somewhat true to the cause 🙏
I seriously cannot stop watching this video! This is exactly what this song should be! I cannot describe in words that would do this justice
I can't stop watching either, cloud 9 bluegrass moment
Great to see one of Bluegrass's young stars singing with the best band in the business.
God lord a mercy!!!! Billy with Del on high harmony! Wow!!! Just a terrific spin on a classic!
Damn....this is phenomenal. That mandolin.....SHEESH!! The vocals, the band, everything. 11 out of 10
SMOKIN' HOT!!! Gives ya goose bumps!!!
Liked B4 I even started listening
watching this for about the 50th time...still makes me happy
I am very concerned at how addicted I am to listening to this. It's just something about the way his voice sounds that I can't stop playing it over and over.
I like watching billy throw cords at dels sons. He's playing cords exactly like del does. So he's honored del in front of his kids out of respect for that elder. That's an elder and not a old man. I canr listening its new and wonderful.
I have not listened to anything non Billy strings since I first heard him play wharf rat at the capital theater, then I heard dust in a baggie and it was over for me and anyone else
hi 😊 💕
I would say billy ’s got the high lonesome sound in his veins and voice
Me too. What is it????
Massive fan of Billy and The McCoury Brothers, Billy sang just like the old time singers, Mountain music is safe with fellas like this.
Blessed to see Del et al, some 15 years back. Billy just IS the music he plays. Hope to see him soon.
Generational collision that produced magic
Wish I could like this more than once! Billy has the high lonesome but he can rock the heck out of that guitar. The future of bluegrass.
I guess it's a transition. The old yielding to the new. Del and Billy are kindred spirits.
"You gotta appreciate that guy I'll tell ya"... Yes sir.
I've watched all of billys videos, this one is special. Great tune
Billy Boy Strings ! Seems every musician would love to play with him
Bluegrass stars at either end of the age spectrum.!!
I don’t think it’s a secret - Del turned 80
@@brucekuehn4031 And I think Billy just turned 26. Or maybe 27.
A joyful moment
Tattoos long hair and straight laced bluegrass guys and he fits right in
Justin Combs yep this kids my hero
If ya got it, ya got it
🤣 you think they’re all straight laced?
Not straight laced if you dress up to play bluegrass.
@@nikeroach sorry his uncle was a racer. Number 33 was his car. He is just paying homage.
Gotta love the McCoury family...that's the real old time grass passed on. Billy is a natural of course.
There’s just something about music that bridges suits & ties/fringed vests.....and it all makes sense!
Del’s like a loving and encouraging father.....with a smile that is so endearing!
Amen to that
Hi Julie how are you doing tonight
TRUE THAT!
Although I can happily live in a world without Fringed Vests..... Just my Personal Opinion
Good to see this happen on stage... even on a UA-cam Video...
Magic transferring
!!!best the He's !!!!!08 he's And
Music doesn’t care what you wear but suit or no suit, Billy can hold his own with the best of them.
Del is certainly the torch bearer for trad. grass. But he has the grace to encourage his sons to go forward and make a place for themselves. And to encourage people like Billy who I think should feature his vocal ability as much as his playing. He has the edge to carry the music into the future.
Del McCoury......Snow on the roof, fire in the belly!
I love Del's expression.
Always good to see Billy with Del, they share something timeless, and both appreciate it. The music lives, grows, and will be with us long into the future.
easy to see that del and his boys love this kid...when he starts singin they are so full of joy....del is way up there on cloud 9.
1:00 what a boss banjo solo. If there was ever a moment of "he doesn't move fast because he doesn't move for anyone" this is the bluegrass version.
YES! Robbie McCoury is one of the best I've ever seen and I've seen a few..a true bluegrass banjo player with numerous grammy's under his belt
i freaking love this... love Del's face and watching Billy is so fun to see him watch the other players and just all around big JOY
Anything Billy and Del does is pure bluegrass gold
THE TOP TWO ,WHERE EVER CAN BE FOUND , SIMPLY , AMAZING, THE OLD N NEW , GENUINE BLUE GRASS FROM THE HEART N SOUL , GOD BLESS YALL ✝️🇺🇲😎✌🏿🏆
I cannot get enough of this! I’ve listened and watched over and over and over. Love it
The true spirit of bluegrass music!
Bill brought it, and Del was likin it!
Probably the best version of this song I've ever heard!
Mac and Bill weren't too shabby.
Ronnie was back there digging it. He kept trying to watch Billy like a lot of musicians.
That is so friggin classy! Billy didn’t need to blaze out a guitar lead, great vocals wow!
billy strings is awesome, i am so glad he overcome his struggles and made it with his music that he is sharing with us, great entertainer
So wonderful to hear and see a new generation carry this traditional music forward .
Are you kidding me ... 😊💕 that kids got and old soul.. and tons of talent 👏👏👏
Thats the way I feel...hes definitely got an old soul, cool as hell...and full of so much talent!! He'll be playin us damn good music til the day he dies...its in his heart and soul, that's plain to see
Billy is a genuine ol' soul.. he earned his spot!
Just watch Del! It tells you all you need to know.
That is some damn good pickin' and grinnin' right there. I don't care who you are.
Dreams do come true.... oh myyyyyyyyyyyy...... 🎙🎸🎶💜👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Billy and Del sound so good together.
What a great tune and love the way it's played like Monroe and Del played it.. Excellence . Del and Billy vocals sound amazing together. We are lucky to have them and have Billy carry the torch
Gs
Great harmonies,,
Billy Shows respect to the legends of Bluegrass. 👍Del and his boys look like they enjoyed playing with the future of Bluegrass. There voices harmonize very well! Dels big smiles tells it all. ❤love this much respect for each other.
I don't think Del McCoury has ever hit a bad note. That smile is pure joy.
Perfect! When you were still young, well younger, I looked forward to pairings like this. Appalachian style calling, or singing with that kind of projection, I dearly loved teaching that in my days as a teacher. You have got it ol son. You deserve to be on that stage.
Were you his music teacher back in school??
The wonderful thing about Mr Strings is he can bring almost a haunting impressive Doc but can harness Jerry an Maynard and it resonates!
Del has this giggle at the end when he sees billy off... And it shows that just meant so much.
Incredible to witness this talent appreciating one another....awww pick it son.....
I heard Del got a tattoo, jeans and grew his hair after this...fab
That is too funny but very possible 😃
Bill is a real singing man
Damn they sound amazing together. I bet Billy is loving every second of it! Del is grinning so wide haha.
Thank you for your talent. You both have enriched my life.
As a huge Hank, Jr, and Blue Grass fan I'm so happy to know this guy is going to be leading the charge in the future. He's phenomenal.
Billy is great now but in time will be a legend.
What a treasure! Billy String showed real humility.
I think our music is in safe hands if Billy keeps this up, stunning performance...
