EZ Outboard Lower Unit or Outdrive Pressure and Vacuum Test

How to check your outdrive or outboard lower unit for seal condition. Pressure test and vacuum check the easy way at home. A must do if any water intrusion is present during a gear oil change. Check leaks with light thin oil for Vacuum Test or soapy water for Pressure Test. I purchased my pump (which has a metal screw attachment at a local store but this one below looks like it would suffice as long as the connection between the plastic and the adapter is leak free)

This part which is expensive would be ideal, but my method is the 'cheap' way. If you're a marine shop, I'd prefer to have one of these. A once a year guy, my process is best.

Yes, the fitting for the gear oil pump. Brass with O ring. Not the plastic type.
