Great to see you Kurt🙌🏼 I have been pain pill free for eight years. I’m actually kinda lost in my life right now too. Lost my mama to brain cancer in November and her last message to me was that I was a loser always have been and always will be. I don’t talk to anyone, but my kids. I found when my mama had cancer.. omg I struggled almost every day. My doctor would prescribe antidepressants… and I would not take them. I do have anxiety and I take meds for that… but I get it Kurt. Stay strong.. life is life.. what do they say .. hills and valleys. You are doing great and have come so far! Be proud and regret nothing! (:

Kurt, it’s really good to see you! I’m glad that you decided to jump on here and check in. Don’t let the anxiety keep you from doing it or make you feel like you need to. Just do it when you feel like you want to and don’t worry about it. I hope you and your family are having a good new year and that it continues to keep getting better 💞. Love from Louisiana!

I'm on day 8 and have been a chronic relapser for way too long. I'm back and hoping for no more pancreatitis amd seizures anymore. Competely agree with you on the politics of NA/AA. As long as your wokring on your recovery that's all that matters. Especially when it comes from the doctor. There are many ways to recover as there are recovery addicts. I believe there is no wrong or right way to recovery as long as your are trying...Just started posting my journey to get more help,

Derek Helped Me Get Clean 2 Years Ago. I Would Watch His Withdrawal Videos While I Was Going Through Withdrawal. Then I Saw He Relapsed After A Year Of Being Clean And It Crushed Me But He Was Definitely My Best Friend For 12 Days 😅 Glad He Got Back Clean 8 Years Running. I Truly Appreciate You Man!

Former addict, leaving the word “addict” in the past is just as important.
A period of time in our life doesn’t and shouldn’t define who we are .
We are much more than that, psychologically it is very important for humans to label ourselves in order to truly move forward.
I get NA and AA use those terminology’s but they were written a long long time ago and how we see the mindset and through science and experience we now see how important leaving the past exactly where it is.
We still consciously and unconsciously know what we should or shouldn’t do, we relearn or learn how to be as humans .
With a better understanding of trauma , neurons, childhood , mental health issues and so on we are now in a much better position.

Yo Kurt, greetings from Australia. I check in on you sometimes. I just jumped of Suboxone 4 days ago. So yeah, going through it. Suboxone saved my life. It’s just really hard to get off.
The main thing though I heard you say about you having depression and anxiety and the pressures of this life on your shoulders. Well I was the same but eight months ago I had an encounter with God and he said to me that he had a gift for me, and then I felt him rip out every bit of hurt, shame and he ripped out Satanic seed line out of me and I have been walking around without a Care in the world ever since that eight months ago. I say this dude because it was real, it wasn’t just in my mind. I’m met Jesus Christ and he gave me the gift of Salvation and he took all of my pain away.

I’m in the U.K. I’ve been taking strong pain prescription pills since around 2010. I recently had my pet dog of 13 years put to sleep in November. Ever since then I’ve been feeling so destroyed, defeated and lost in life. Just before Christmas I took a few too many because I was so stressed and I ran out. Doctor has now punished me by forcing me to reduce, that’s just stressed me out more. Last few weeks I’ve literally felt completely lost, alone and hopeless. Sleeping is the worst because when I do get some sleep I have weird repetitive dreams and nightmares. Feel so absolutely alone and lost at the moment. I just don’t know what to do. Have even been considering suicide.

If your like me (using even when I don't want to) , working the AA program is the only way to find actual happiness while being clean and sober. Took years and lots of suffering to figure that out. Good luck

Funny that I got clean without AA if it's the only way. I'm glad it worked out for you. Everyone is different and I don't think it's helpful to say that AA is the only anything

Kurt, antidepressants will help you for a little while, but then they just numb you out. You don’t feel the lows, but you don’t feel the highs. You just become a zombie. I just came off 15 years on Effexor and endep. I started to feel again and I realise that’s what I was missing. We need to feel. Don’t trade your feelings for no pill. swallow the tough times and rejoice in the good times. Keep it real as always.
