I have watched this movie twice already. Thompson was magnificent. The pain in her face, the self-deprecating humor, the understated passion, one of the best performances I've seen in a long time. And the beautiful Darryl McCormack had every scene with this legend and never blinked. If this film doesn't win multiple awards, then awards are irrelevant.
Emma is such a force of nature, love her in every movie she has made.
It’s so good! They’re both amazing in it.
My thoughts exactly!!!
agreed 100%
Well put! I watched the film three times in five days. It’s perfect and quietly important.
The film is so raw and really minimalistic in the story line but has such a profound impact which is incredible. I cried at the very end when she looks at her nude body and smiles to herself. Everyone deserves to love themselves and feel confident and good in their skin. It’s such a tremendous power that so many hurt without, we view ourselves as unlovable, ugly, disposable. It’s bullshit. I love Emma so much, she’s just magnificent. The writing and character development felt so organic and genuine. We need more films like it.
this is great but... SPOILERS!
I agree, watching a movie where two people talk for 90 mins was truly gripping. I wasn't expecting that tbh. Both actors were amazing.
That suit!! That hair!! Oh Emma, you never cease to impress in every way. One of the best actors of our time.
Comfortable shoes!
Agreed!
yes, I love that she is so appealing WITHOUT breasts hanging out, fake finger-claws, the same slathered on eyebrows we see all over, and can sit comfortably without giving us a lady-parts show! I cannot fathom why female actors wear teeny skirts on these shows, cross their legs and there it all is. Don't they check out their outfit first?
@@gobblinal I am ALL for comfortable shoes! 😁🤓
I wonder if it’s a Bella Freud suit. She is in element here. Lovely 😊
The hair, the outfit, HER. I LOVE IT ALL 😍
"Woman are not, traditionally, invited to think aboit what they might want"
What an elegant wording of this, imo, underestimated trade of internalised patriarchy! Cheers Emma, thnx :)
She must be talking about Victorian England. And I guess she doesn't read Cosmo, if that's what she thinks. In THAT magazine, it's all about HER hitting the big O. And about "patriarchy" -- anyone who knows ANYTHING about MEN knows that men these days will kill themselves to make sure she has AT LEAST one orgasm, or preferably more, even if in doing so he wrecks the ONE he'll be lucky to have.
I saw an article where men were talking about the grotesque lengths they went to, in order to wait until SHE finally got off -- things like running through their times tables (now THERE'S a turn-on...) One said he thought about the time his dog was hit by a car and died. Anything to keep HIS pleasure bottled up until she got hers FIRST.
I found it unspeakably sad. Maybe in the old days, men didn't care, but those days are long gone. Nowadays, women can have MULTIPLE orgasms, while he'll probably only get ONE -- if he hasn't already wrecked it for her....
This movie was everything I didn’t know I needed🥹 the raw beauty of having the liberty to just be comfortable in your own skin and the power to own everything about yourself is simply stunning 💕
This was such a beautiful and refreshing film to see. I was immediately drawn by the premise and it did not disappoint. It was simplistic in the most wonderful way and would highly recommend it to anyone. Both her and Daryl were incredible in it.
Nice review! The way she talked about it really made me want to see it too!
You're not kidding! The film was brilliant and perfectly done...just amazing. Really...everyone should see it.
"She and Daryl".
It sounds very uncomfortable
@@samanthathompson9812 it’s not at all, unless this topic is a trigger for you. It’s a great film.
Emma Thompson is slowly turning into an Emma Thompson character and I love every second of it.
We are who we pretend to be.
Hopefully not Nanny MPhee.
There aren’t enough words to describe how much I adore her confidence, humor & attitude!! She is truly my role model as I enter my fifties. 🙏🏻
Rock on, Shona. The 50s are great. Enjoy every minute!
We need to protect this woman at all costs. Incredible actress and so eloquent , funny , passionate
Protect her from what, is she in some danger?
@@gigid9606 come on, don’t take things too literally
She is a treasure. She's just plain delightful bonkers sunshine of a human being...
Oh godddddd I loathe that expression where does it come from and why do people say it (stop saying it pleeeeeease)
She’s also an eco hypocrite
Loved this movie. The dialogue between Emma and Daryl was truly encapsulating throughout the entire movie.
I JUST WANT TO TALK TO HER FOR HOURS. She is so well-spoken, so eloquent, so RIGHT about everything. Just thrilling to listen to her and be around her I bet.
Emma Thompson’s scene in Love Actually when she reacts, alone, to the knowledge that her spouse is likely cheating on her…makes my heart hurt every time I watch it. She cries, regroups, then has to rejoin her family as if nothing happened. Such incredible talent!
I love listening to her. She seems so passionate about this film, so I look forward to watching it!
Just watched it. It's very good.
It was so endearing!!! I would highly recommend it.
I saw a preview of this two nights ago -- such a compelling film, even though most of it takes place in a hotel room. Both Emma and Daryl are superb in it.
YOU need to watch Coversations With Other Women with HBC and Aaron Eckhart. The trailer gave me similar vibes. Correct me if I'm wrong bruv!
When Emma says how we lose passion of life worried about our bodies was phenomenal!
just when I thought I couldn't respect & adore Emma Thompson any more - she is a treasure !!!
Emma hit it right on the head, and you could hear the audience's response in how they breathed and clapped -- we all know she is correct. We cultivated a society that gets us hating ourselves then we switch to social media to compare ourselves, then we go to work, still fuming about how something isn't good enough, go to dinner and complain with our friends as we all self-bash every part of our body, even though that body has brought you right where you are NOW, supporting you breath by breath and step by step, the habitual denouncement of our miraculous soul, gets relegated to thighs, stomachs, butts and boobs and other things we put under the spotlight and we never get around to loving what has been gifted -- because we've been tutored in comparison, ingratitude and lack of self-love by parents, by society, and by the things, we keep chasing swearing that everyone is better based on a shape of a body.....its a maddening and sad trip we take on the coattails of our one brilliant life. we are so much more, so much more -- get to that holy place and love yourself wildly and unconditionally because you can IF YOU CHOOSE!!! life is too sweet to compare or denounce yourself or another .....UNTIL YOU LOVE YOU RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE, YOU'LL NEVER FULLY KNOW LOVE OF ANY KIND!!! DON'T BASE YOUR LIFE ON HOW YOU COMPARE --- BE KIND TO YOU.
Wow. Your words are beautiful and true 🙏🏼🤍
👍👏👏👏👏💜💛❤️💕
Nicely written.
do you go around talking this sort of rubbish in real life?
@@brianhammer5107 hugs. Have a great day
She really knows how to hug. I love people who can give a strong hug.
Emma is so brave to take on this role which many post-meno women can easily relate to. A beautiful woman and great talent.
Only one segment! Nooo. She is an icon dropping wisdom so casually ❤️
Right! She needed to be interviewed twice as long!! I think she was in Colbert recently too if you need more!
@@Sindollx666x Thanks!
Emma Thompson looks fabulous and much of it comes from how comfortable and natural she is. She's the same age as Madonna but the two women couldn't be more different in their approach to aging. Love you, Emma!
Unfortunately for Madonna, she's a legendary rock star, and the public would like her to fade away as she ages because she'll never again be that sex kitten she was for us. It's not easy being the aging Queen of Rock 'n Roll, so I would refrain from comparing her with a lovely character actor who was never a sex object and has miles to go playing older characters with public approval.
@@marthawoodworth, there are miles of aging music stars of various genders who carry on doing what they love. Madonna is/was a pop star (very little rock & roll involved) and if she was foolish enough to hitch her wagon to an unsustainable "sex kitten" persona, that's on her, not the public.
WOMEN DON'T NEED TO BE COMPARED, THEY CAN JUST BE GOOD AND THAT'S FINE
She is FABULOUS, and so talented🥰
So excited to see mma Thompson depicting this issue about female sexuality! Especially about older women - such a rarity🥳
She is unlike anyone else on Earth. Truly one of a kind, her talent and eloquence are beyond words.
her speaking about female pleasure and female sexuality and how it was disregarded for so long is so important
This is you 👉🤡
Rarely do I feel like an intervention makes me genuinely want to see a film an Emma absolutely did. She’s lovely.
Bravest woman, Thank you.
Pure brilliance. A gift to the universe she is!
💯
She's just so intelligent, so funny, and so unapologetically real. Love, Love, Love her!
What a fantastic movie this is, reminiscent of a stage play, with an immediacy of emotion, both raw and understated, and the honesty? Mind blowing. Emma and Daryl both hit every note just right. Bravo.
She's a queen. For her acting, sure; but for the PERSON she is. Just brilliant.
The ending of the movie was absolutely beautiful. Loving the sex positive journey of the film.
Beautiful film!!! Everyone should watch this (not kids of course). It was raw, honest, deep, funny, vulnerable, and entertaining. This is what acting is about: not explosions or green screen, just characters and stories. Everyone women on earth can relate to her character in some way or form: either as a daughter, mother, wife, girlfriend, or simply a woman.
Repeatedly, it catches you off guard and brings tears of an indefinable basis. When Leo explains the different needs of some of his clients -- including the possibility that what Nancy needs is just to talk -- I was transfixed. If you weren't in love with Leo before then, you were afterward. What a performance!!! Awards for both of them.
She is absolutely the funniest and wisest interview subject I think, ever.
She speaks so beautifully. Nothing about her not to love
I watch her every Christmas in Love Actually. She's gut-wrenching in that role. Definitely want to check out Good Luck to You Leo Grande!
I am certain you will love her in this role. I was crying and laughing in the first five minutes - two different scenes -that is how great she is! To see Nancy come to life in this movie is beautiful - much like Emma's character in Love Actually when she figures out she is better off on her own....her light shines so brightly!
Just saw this movie and it made me think about things. Brilliant acting from THE Emma Thompson and THE super charming Daryl McCormack ❤️
Yes when your 50 60 70 80 you can have sex still
Spare acting that makes you think -- and still be entertained. They've given us everything. And in return, we love them both.
I've watched this movies 5x now. I'm so inlove with these characters. It really spoke to my hope and sadness. Both were masterful. I hope this film gets the recognition it deserves. We needed this!!!
Thank you Emma for introducing Fry to Laurie
This was by far, Seth's best interview. I was grinning from ear to ear the entire interview and I'm not even that familiar with Emma Thompson's work. She was wonderful as a person and Seth was clearly in awe. I'll make a point of familiarizing myself with her work after seeing this episode. What a wonderful person.
They truly have a beautiful heartwarming chemistry. This is one of my fav interviews EVER ua-cam.com/video/ZNzFf5WJoCE/v-deo.html
Sense & Sensibility- she starred AND wrote the script. Dead Again is another that’s iconic.
except I cringed that he went straight to indeirectly body shaming her Matilda character right after ET is talking about how we need to be ok with our bodies.
Oh, thank you for saying that about familiarizing yourself! This interview launched me (on solo covid quarantine) on my own little Emma Thompson film festival. 4 flicks so far (No, I"m not going for all 57!)
Effie Gray was the big news to me, which I watched cold and recommend that way. Emma wrote its screenplay and she appears briefly. A fascinating story based upon snippets provided by the historical record. Very well-educated Brits probably all knew the tale, but in line with themes she discussed with Sean, Emma knew it needed exploring through film.
Simply, we can rely on her to choose only good projects.
Emma Thompson is absolutely delightful. What a treasure she is!
I have always adored Emma Thompson. She is gorgeous, talented, funny, amazingly well spoken and so, so smart. Can't wait to see this movie.
Great film and great interview. Who doesn't love Emma?
Daryl really is wonderful with her. I'd see them paired again in whatever scenario any day!
LOVE HER and the way she expressed this!!! OMG
An absolutely great film--on all levels. Well done to both actors, well done. 🥰
What filmDo you mean.
@@marinakokina8729 Good Luck to You, Leo Grande. The topic of the video. :)
The Tall Guy is a hidden gem from the late 80s with a sex scene that at the time was groundbreaking and totally hilarious. Highly recommend looking it up
Thompson is really outwordly in this movie. Every gesture, tones, words, silences, expresions are incredibly well and naturally performed. She is the hole movie. An excelent script, a very good co star but she took the movie a another level.
she's an absolute gem of a woman, legend.
Magnificent production. Emma's performance up to her usual high standards. Let's not forget Darly McCormick's performance in this stirring story. The chemistry between these to Actors was a stellar performance.
Emma is so wonderful. Grace, passion, beauty, eloquence and one of the greatest actors of our time. This film was so well written, so insightful and so very well acted it must surely win all of the awards 🏆
Just WOW 🔥 She’s stunning in this outfit & hair! She glows from the inside out 🤩
The level of intimacy in this film is unbelievable and desperately needed...NOW.
Movie is pure perfection....the leads were spectacular in their roles. The movie was beautifully written and superbly acted. Standing Ovation!!!!
She's just SO INTELLIGENT -- one of the many reasons I've loved her all my life (I'm 65).
I love this woman! So natural, honest and talented😍
She kept a diary while she was making Sense and Sensibility, and the young actor who played Margaret, the 11-year-old sister, said something to her about wanting to lose weight or some such, and Emma was stunned. Eleven years old and not overweight, but already thinks she needs to lose weight.
I never forgot the first time I saw her on tv on “nanny McPhee” that moment she transformed into her real appearance, I remember it so vividly. I was probably 7 or 8 and when she turned into her real appearance I felt like she was an actual angel like for real! She was SO pretty! And to this day that beauty hasn’t left her! I mean I was too young to know anything about acting but I knew this woman was a fairy, anyways I only watched this movie because I’m obsessed with her🤣
She's breathtaking as an angel in Angels in America.
I’ve worked with Sophie and Bryan on a lot of their films. It just makes me so thrilled to see Emma talk so lovingly about this process. Sophie Hyde has so much more to say as a Director and I love how Emma’s press for this film is bringing the passion and method behind Soph’s style to such a large open forum. The dialogues that run from this work after the film has ended is not accidental. ❤️❤️❤️
Dame Emma Thompson DBE (born 15 April 1959) is a British actress and screenwriter. Described as one of the best actresses of her generation, she has received various accolades throughout her career spanning four decades, including two Academy Awards, two British Academy Film Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, a British Academy Television Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award.... Dame is like Sir.....and so normal not a snob , the great Dame along with Dame Helen Mirren. Queenie bestowed those honours.
well, technically it was the PM who asked queenie to bestow that honour. very rarely is it her idea in the first place
And one of her Oscars was for screenwriting... It was for Sense and sensibility. She is not just a great actor, she is a great writer too..the lady has brain...
@@embreis2257 Agree but she is a Dame really and a real Thespian also
Queenie might have agreed to the honour, but Emma actually received it from Prince William….
@@kimsk4962 and she allegedly wanted to kiss William...😂🤣
Emma Thompson is a legit legend and total utter queen. Can't wait to see this film (and her version of Miss Trunchbull in Matilda as well)
63 never looked so good!! love you Emma
Emma is amazing. Very excited to see this movie. And thanks to Emma for sharing her thoughts on the movie and women's sexual inhibitions (that we need to break).
@@ladyjane8844 I think you're describing... nuns?
I honestly don't know if that's desirable for most (to live like that) but if that's not what you meant.... more power to ya
"Good Luck to You, Leo Grande" was a really beautiful film. 💜
Exquisitely beautiful! A much watch!
❤️ We are so lucky for every chance to experience Emma Thompson’s talent, grace and humor! Thank you, Dame Emma 🙏
Let's just stop for a moment and notice how beautiful Emma looks in this interview. In the movie also, but I really like her hair here.
I love this conversation - she worded everything so perfectly and precisely
Supremely written by a female writer!
I've been in love with her since The Remains of the Day and Howard's End. (In the latter we got the kiss that should have happened in the former.)
Sounds like a wonderful film, must watch it! Katie Brand the writer is a very funny comedian in her own right.
"Kick it into the long grass." Love this. Thank you.
Ahhh Emma, she is really quite wonderful. Thanks for the clip.
This was an amazing film. AMAZING! Emma is my hero I want to be just like her when I grow up ❤️
Me too...and I'm 75!
Emma tompson is a legend 🤌🤌🔥🔥
Emma Thompson is ageless. A many times awarded actress without any allures1
Allure is generally a good thing?
@@merlinthegray Perhaps they meant... illusions? Or similar?
B**gered if I know 😕
She is an amazing actress, and so elegant, so beautiful, adore her hair.... i wish i grow older with all her grace and beauty ❤️
What a fantastic interview, Emma Thompson made some absolutely fantastic talking points and it’s a little frustrating the crowd didn’t burst into cheering.
Yes funny how the lack of rapturous applause in a given moment can be so awkward!
Dame Emma is one of the most charming talk show guests. Love her to bits!
I went to see this movie twice in a row in the cinema. It's so good. Emma is brilliant and her chemistry with him was outstanding.
A great movie, with great performances, touching very real, deep topics from a fresh, sexy perspective. It's been years since I've enjoyed a movie so much 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💫💯💯💯💯💯💯💜💜💜
Brilliant script, brilliant performances. Astonishing work per usual for Dame Emma Thompson
Emma Thompson. Class, exceptionally talented, intelligent, beautiful, thoughtful and funny as hell! I can’t wait to see this film 🎞 👏.
She is brilliant.✨
Brilliant script.
Brilliant acting.
Minimalist. Great view.
So true, denial, service, self-sacrifice….
Emma is a stand-out.
She is #Lifegoals. I absolutely love her.
FIlm's GREAT. And Darryl McCormack is LAUNCHED as a major star. Kudos to all for writing, creating, performing such a truly INTERESTING and different film and striking an important blow for so many important things and destroying so many negative things, such as ageism.
She truly is a treasure! I admire her so much in so many ways
This is such a good, fun, insightful and just brilliant movie on a subject we don't see often.
Nice pic true its not showing alot older men and younger women is shown more
Great interview, Emma Thompson is magnificent!
I love this movie, it’s so brilliant. They’re both exceptional.
You can tell she is really passionate and it is great to hear her speak on it.
OMG her hairdo. That hairdo is IT. 😍😍😍
I absolutely adore EmmaThompson, She nailed it with this performance. There are so many feelings in that character. It is a wonderful film.
Love that hair.
What an absolute legend.
I have so many things to say about this beautiful movie. They totally bodied their roles . Got me teary at some point . So beautifully executed. Emma is fantastic and a beautiful confident lady. I am so impressed 👏🏽
I just watched the movie last night!!! As a mature woman, I want to thank Emma Thompson for her courage and strength. Brava!!! And, Darryl McCormack...ok down girl (no pun intended). Well done.
I love this kind of movies, it's funny, deep, sad and most of all its real. We're all humans with good and bad feelings, and all of us just want to have a connection with someone. Thank you I really enjoyed that. 👏
I see Emma Thompson, I click. I love this woman.
An icon, a legend and she is the moment. I hope I get to watch the movie!
