For the rear shocks, I think your easiest bolt on option is going to be from a Volvo C30/S40/V50(KYB P/N 343419). They use the same mounting dimensions of E2-12x36 lower mount, and S1-8mm upper mount, but have an extended length of 27.17" vs the Focus(all of that gen) 24.13". The downside is less total travel vs the Focus, 9.25" vs 8.27", so you would probably need some sort of additional bump stop to keep from blowing them out first time you take it over a sweet jump. You could also use shocks from a 97-03 Ford F150 (KYB P/N 344375, different trims have different shocks), but the lower mount is 2mm wider, and upper mount will need to either be swapped or re-drilled to fit, but it would give you the added height you need, and over 11" of stroke. The lower mount would probably be fine with your stock attachment bolt. Full compression length is 16.14" vs Focus 14.88", so should be good with your spacer. Other option would be some sort of custom lower shock mount adapter, but you'd have to find someone with some fabrication skills to get that done and not create a pivot point to create a bind.
Good on ya Sarah Saving the planet and money as well doing a bit of up cycling. The junkyard is always my first stop for project builds. Things like fuse blocks, connectors, shrouds and even things like shocks end links, steering gear etc. Next budget upgrade remove or modify the shields behind the brake rotors. They hold in a lot of heat when your brakes are red hot and allow you to get a lot more out of the standard brakes.
The cars name should be fOCus’D. Enjoy the fun build. Can’t wait to see it run.i did a version of Rally when I had to get rid of my 89z28, I used it as a trade in & b4 I picked up the newer car I took it off road in the mud/ donuts it was so fun.
Shallow 19mm socket on an impact to remove focus wheels= crushed fakorn lug nuts. Purchased real, solid, shiny acorn nuts for my focus. No more smashed nuts. 👏
Glad someone is building a gen 1. I’ve had 4 of em they are great and super easy to work on, aside from the oil filter that requires 2nd degree burns to replace in the stock location. Still have a ton of parts even though I haven’t owned one for about 10 years.
I have been a faithful viewer for perhaps six months now. Your content is fresh and keeps getting better with each video. I thoroughly enjoy! You are very talented. Cheers!
For bolt-on longer rear shocks, use KYB 343419 They’re 4” taller than stock on compression and 3” at extended over factory 343429’s but SAME mounting at each end.
Moog CC881 rear spring Direct fit in yer Focus, but heavier duty and should add at least another inch👌 Moog 80170 for good front re-freshers K I’m done. Promise
Just found your channel today and I LOVE it!! Your knowledge combined with your hilarious personality makes it a joy to watch your content! Keep it up!
I like the junkyard approach to this build as long as you stay safe. The car will get trashed when you thrash it around the desert so there's no point in making it perfect.
i know this might not be the most popular comment or anything but honestly im really excited for this build the most i think rn!!!! like the TT sounded cool at first but it was such a problem child and sounded like honestly too much work for itself, the MR2 was a super sweet build but it did feel like its taken awhile (yes i know your doing it all yourself and with a limited budget) but it just got to be one thing after another and always taking time to be OCD about cleaning deff slowed ya down! i really hope you keep Forester Gump and go full jdm turbo b@lls out on that thing but in the meantime this seems like an awesome build, plus seeing you outta your comfort zone and trying something new is fun and you look like your enjoying yourself :) as always, love your work sarah hope to see ya rippin it in the desert soon
As a last resort to get a coil spring to start compressing during installation on my 64 Bel Air, I used a chain from the car frame looped down around the axle of the jack near the saddle to keep the car from lifting. A wide 3" HD ratchet strap would be possible but a chain would likely have less risk of damage or failure. Also a compressed spring is no joke being around while under tension and not contained so be careful as it may fly out without any warning. If you are wondering why I didn't just compress the spring using a compressor enough to compress the spring and then be removed, there was not enough room in between the frame and lower control arm which prevented use. Rally on!
Take your springs back off and cycle the suspension to see what shocks you need. Measure at full droop and full bump. That will get your number. Looks cool so far!
Sarah, great work, love your attitude. One tip when using spring compressors or anything else that uses a threaded shaft to apply compression, is to GREASE the threads.
The rear springs on the first gen wagon focus will provide more lift! ...sincerely - Been there, done that. I've had a dedicated SVT EAP racecar for the last few years and struggled with some of these same issues! I keep a combination set of both factory SVT and ZX3/Wagon over SVT struts to swap as needed. Mine mostly gets tracked on pavement at Waterford Hills and the M1 Concourse in Michigan... it's in the middle of an 2.0L EcoBoost swap right now because I blew a hole in the block after a main bearing failure... fun stuff! Love your videos!
Thanks for the content i wish more people would realize that the focus and the fiesta are the best fwd rally cars on earth im in the process of removing the seam sealer to stitch weld the interior of my 03 zx3 for rally racing i have named mine war chicken
I think it's awesome that you and Charlie have an amicable relationship. Great seeing that you have a good friend to lend a hand and help with the more technical stuff.
Always wanted to find an incredible mechanical diva. You're wicked awesome and everything my dreams are made of. Keep kicking butt. You're talented and stunningly gorgeous
209K subscribers. Dang, Sarah that is pretty great. Glad to see you're junk yarding. Save money. Okay good video. Glad to see you are working on Old Blue.
Interesting project, it's nice to see you raise the suspension or trying to instead of slamming it (like every other modifier) so that the whole car scrapes on the ground whilst being driven.
A person doesn't actually realize how long 72 hours is unless your waiting on another Sarah video or the bail bondsman. Great vid.........you look amazing as always.......maybe a project that doesn't need to be ocd could help you relaxe the ocd. Ocd is so stressful and the last thing you need hovering over you. Don't see how the 4 fingers would matter except if a blind guy is listening to the vid !!
Cool. The only thing I got to do to mine was find the svt rims and lights before I traded for an over priced 2013 se. I loved the little focus!! But it over heated with my traveling job. Now I’m trying to figure out what to do to my 17 Flex.
if you're planning on going airborne with that a little bit you definitely want to put extension cables on the suspension to keep it from bottoming out backwards
Hmmmm… maybe a centre style spring compressor would have got those springs and spacer in. Only works if there is a hole under the spring perch to drop the bolt through. That would be quite the lift.
When you mentioned the US bumper, it brought back a memory of the US front bumper being used on WRC cars for better aero ( I think that's why). Production parts from anywhere in the world were legal for WRC -- at least if I remember right.
This gonna be the funniest project for Sarah and us, "tier apart-take the part-throw in-lets prove", i dont know in english, we uruguaian, said "derecho viejo, noma'" or "a lo peñarol", go,go,go,Sarah, lets fun, a kiss, a hug from Montevideo!
YES! Finally someone is making a video on the mk1 focus, I have a 01 Zx3 that i've been slowly building into a rally car. It great to watch someone figure out all the problems for you lol
Forget the tech stuff, Sarah, light blue is definitely a very good color on you. However, at 11:52, the stitching on the pocket was a touch wonky on the caboose, however the fit of the pocket was .... yeah, it definitely was.
Yeah I just gutted my carpet in my subaru 2.5rs. It's on bc coilovers, but gonna raise them as far as I can go. Until I can get rally suspension. Trying to get seat time and compete in pro rally sport some day. Hopefully I can make it to the event in summit point.
If you’re compressing springs a lot you should definitely look into getting a more heavy duty compressor! They’re 1000x safer and way easier to use. Look up: ECCPP Universal Interchangeable Fork Strut Coil Spring Compressor Macpherson Tool
What year are those junk yard front springs from? Something doesn't seem right there. I've mixed parts between my '00 ZX3 and SVT's ('02-'04) without issue. Beware different diameter ball joints and strut bodies! Also, get new strut bushings, they're cheap, both in cost and construction.
You can look at spring rates, but OEM jeep springs could also work. The JKfronts(mk4VWfront lift)and YJ fronts(mk4VWrear lift) are very similar to the OEM golf's SPRING RATE. Paired with Bilstein HD B6 shocks and struts. Makes for a durable tall lift. (If the BillyB6s are available for focus) Just have to watch the C.V. angles keep them similar but opposite than stock. Tires will add more lift with larger diameter. I used 205/75/15 general grabber at2s. Less than $100 each, and are perfect for sand and snow. But in real mud, they are awful. That gave me an additional inch on top of the aforementioned struts and shocks. I actually used brand new AIR SHOCKs from a cadillac deville on my rear. I carry tons of tools and it keeps my car level, while maintaining a hefty lift to match the fronts.
Sarah, your one line unintentional gags, are really fun. love the way you work on the car, it's real.

The Hot Dog hallway and then the four fingers had me laughing so hard that i had to rewatch the video :) Fun stuff Sarah
And the "it's not no nut November"...
Sarah you are right. This is not only a fun build for you but also fun to watch because you seem less stressed.
I have a 2.0 Mk1 3 door focus... always wanted to go full Ken Block on it and mod it out. Now I can just watch you doing it for me! Win / win...
4 fingers yes no one should ever say that.
I laughed out loud😄😄
Charlie is doing what I am going to do! I have the Navigator engine, and a truck, and a ZF6, just need to put them all together.
The cars name should be fOCus’D. Enjoy the fun build. Can’t wait to see it run.i did a version of Rally when I had to get rid of my 89z28, I used it as a trade in & b4 I picked up the newer car I took it off road in the mud/ donuts it was so fun.
Good to see you smileing and haveing fun . You loog a lot better hope you are feeling better
Shallow 19mm socket on an impact to remove focus wheels= crushed fakorn lug nuts. Purchased real, solid, shiny acorn nuts for my focus. No more smashed nuts. 👏
First of all , love your videos , you're a DIY professor ,only not boring like most professors ...also hilarious Sasquatch Tee-shirt !

Hooray! Love it any time you work on the Focus. At least it was partially successful. Excited to see which wheels you got!
For bolt-on longer rear shocks, use KYB 343419
They’re 4” taller than stock on compression and 3” at extended over factory 343429’s but SAME mounting at each end.
Or if you want stiffer monotubes use KYB 554402, or notice what those fit 12-18 Focus 2.0L... also offer Bilsteins...
RockAuto is yo friiiieeeend
Moog CC881 rear spring
Direct fit in yer Focus, but heavier duty and should add at least another inch👌
Moog 80170 for good front re-freshers
K I’m done. Promise
Looks like a build that's not stressing you out and that you can just have fun with. Happy for you. Can't wait to see what wheels you choose.
Just found your channel today and I LOVE it!! Your knowledge combined with your hilarious personality makes it a joy to watch your content! Keep it up!
Jared Dephillips thank you!
Thank you for making me smile. I lost my dog over the weekend (she’s my avatar). I really needed to smile.

Sarah's the only girl that can stomp a tire off with UGGs on. ;D
lllHyPhEnlll 😂
@@SarahnTuned Hi ;D
@@SarahnTuned you probably don't like men but it would sure be nice if you did..

Nice and bouncy!...springs! 😄
Nice work!
Your ingenuity is quite admirable!
Haha on the zoom in on the hair fuzz!! This is the type of DIY mod videos people have been needing!

I'm sick as a dog tonight and running a fever..I've been binge watching your videos and somehow I feel better! Thx..
I think it's awesome that you and Charlie have an amicable relationship. Great seeing that you have a good friend to lend a hand and help with the more technical stuff.
Always brightens my day seeing your videos.
Omg I'm totally in love. An awesome intelligent beyond beautiful woman who is also a talented mechanic.
Always wanted to find an incredible mechanical diva. You're wicked awesome and everything my dreams are made of. Keep kicking butt. You're talented and stunningly gorgeous
Love Rally Builds 😍💕 so happy your doing one 👍 nice to see u and Charlie hanging 😋 your def looking more relaxed and happy 😊
Hey Sarah! can't wait to see you put this thing into action, I'm a Ford Focus nut myself. The first year of the SVT Focus was 2002. ;)
209K subscribers. Dang, Sarah that is pretty great. Glad to see you're junk yarding. Save money. Okay good video. Glad to see you are working on Old Blue.
Great stuff Sarah, love the scrapyard stuff
it's cool to see you so excited for this build.
WHaaa ! junk cam ? We viewers get all the best features on Sarah -n- Tuned. 👍 i bet if i look around there are yummy snacks provided
I have a Scion tC with 40mm spacers on all 4 corners
I love the rally look
Now to get myself some wheels
keep up the great work Sarah!!!
Interesting project, it's nice to see you raise the suspension or trying to instead of slamming it (like every other modifier) so that the whole car scrapes on the ground whilst being driven.
Haven't seen you smile like that in a while. This build I hope will be fun for you.
Nice work Sarah! Enjoy your efforts and humor!
Definitely need some off road looking tires next, and some of those long floppy mud flaps for the right look. Gonna be awesome
🤣🤣🤣 get 4 fingers in what no one should say! The laughs I get, good job Sarah!
Everything you do is awesome
Loving the SVT videos. Cant wait for the next one.

Yep time for a junkyard run for my ranger. And yes I need a roof skin. Great video Sarah
Looks great should be just the right height once it’s level can’t wait to see the rims and tires go Sarah!!
My goodness Sarah, you are stunning!
So fun. I really look forward to your adventures.
I enjoy seeing the focus since I also have an SVT. I like to see what it can do
I love the type of mods where you get the parts from the junkyard instead of paying big money to a parts store. That focus is gonna rock.
You’re so awesome! Keep on Keeping on!
Hmmmm… maybe a centre style spring compressor would have got those springs and spacer in. Only works if there is a hole under the spring perch to drop the bolt through. That would be quite the lift.
Another awesome video Sahaha cheers from Australia
Hey! I’m American and love my Volkswagen Golf R hatchback. 😁
YES!!!!!....THERE IT IS.....1 bolt ah ah ah!!!! I miss that....you just made my day.

Sushi Moto 🙃 I don’t do the “typical” UA-cam crowd builds.
4 finger gap... Excellent!!! Love the content. Always!!!
I love my SVT! So much fun!!! And you can rev out the gears... Cant do that in the STI..
mike van vliet no, you certainly can. But yes, it’s a good little bad chicken!
Don’t forget make sure you have enough slack on the brake hoses too looking forward to the rest of this build 👍🏽
Yes,it's Sara and Charlie and science girl today!
Nice to see the Focus strut'n it's stuff...
"new day, same Sarah... Let's rip some sh*t apart." Love it!
Been wanting to do exactly this with my svtf, great information from you!!

Nothing. Better at this moment then my cat laying with me and watching sarah work on the focus

Lookin good! Those rubber blocks must help the ride a little
i really dig it when you use a number then go ah ah ah,like the count from sesame street
I got a heart from sarah, that made my day
This is a fun build to watch, Sarah!!!
Can't wait to see it with new wheels and tires !
That Charlie is a Beast!

ZX4 front springs changed to a tapered upper seat in 2006 I believe.
Ok, I'm not crazy the. I was going to go back and rewatch to try to figure out which car they came off of and it's approximate year.
Awesome build!
Thanks , now I know how to fix my Mazda 2 front end ....wear can I buy those spacers ?
11:25 I totally agree!
Good work on this stuff. For clarity, might want to review tension vs. compression.
Congratulations, safety glasses please!
Totally agree on the 4 fingers 😂😂😂. Great work again.
Well, i´ve seen some videos that... ok, let´s not get side tracked here. This is a decent channel.
mindtraveller100 Definitely a decent channel. Little bits of innuendo is more than enough 😁
Watermelon down a thirty foot gardenhose. Handy dandy metaphors 🤣
Love your 'wrenching music' selection for this one.
You got front springs off a 2006 or later Focus. If you got them off a 2000-2005, you could have used the same top mounts.
Loving another lifted FWD hatchback, like my diesel VW Golf. Cant wait to see it used, unlike mine.
(If the BillyB6s are available for focus)

“Which nobody should ever say” 🤔
