Bit of context. The 2 brothers moved out and come home every Friday night for dinner.
The neighbour is Jim with the dog he’s scared of, keeps coming round and fancies Jackie.
The dinner is a Jewish tradition.
JIM is legendary!
The parents only see them once a week because they have their own lives but come back each Friday for Friday Night Dinner.
@@krashd We never find out how far away they live, nor if they each live on their own or are in houseshares.
Don't believe Monty was, believe Monty's post was more aimed at King & Queen Boomer, rather than comments in general, just to let them know the characters, relationships, as in the video they wasn't to sure.
RIP Paul Ritter (the father)
His portyal of Anatoly Dyatlov in Chernobyl was absolutely outstanding. Such a loss!
"A lovely bit of squirrel"
Rip “father goodman” 😔
Shit on it!
@@hellobanking802 "Sh*t on it! Sh*t on the sh*tting thing!" 🤣
It does get better and better. Jim is a legend I love how he’s so scared of his own dog. SHALOM
RIP Paul Ritter.
no it doesn’t this show is unfunny as fuck, peep show is way better
A legendary series. Jim in particular gets crazier with every episode.
When Jim 'played' the violin - that killed me! 😆 -x-
When Jim was eating rice pudding 😂
Your bath caught fire?
My missus dies whenever Jim does his thing, she finds it so funny😊
I AM SO HAPPY. This is the PERFECT series for you two. You both love facial expressions and understand sarcasm so you will love the interactions between Adam/Johnny and Martin. This is going to be brilliant
friday night dinner is soo dry and unfunny peep show is better
@@Thezombieslayer175 Both good shows, just different humour. Learn to appreciate
You would like 'Bad Education'. It's another school comedy. A bit sillier than the Inbetweeners, but still funny.
I feel like Mark Heap (Jim) was still finding how to play the character in series 1 but he really nails it later on. He's still hilarious in this series but he just gets so much better later on
Mark Heap is a legend of British comedy. I recommend you put Green Wing on the list. Fantastic series
Truth 👍👍👍
Oh, what was the damn doctors name?
His character?
Killed me.
Flies.
@@lordsoros627 Dr Alan Statham
@@Bthelick Statham!!!
Bit pissed I didn't remember it.
Was on the tip of my brain.
Cheers.
For me, he'll always be Robert Greene in Upstart Crow!
Absolutely brilliant series. The chap with his dog 'Wilson' has me in fits. He plays a hilarious chatacter in another comedy series called Green wing which is worth a watch too.
Green Wing is a must :)
the fucken' flute dance.
He's amazing in Spaced too. His character in that is a posh, stuck up, pretentious "artist" type.
Mark Heap is a great character actor.
Yet it took 7 years to become popular.
Damn.. so glad you two have finally got round to this, absolute stormer of a show, the character that plays Johnny (Tom Rosenthal, who incidentally is Jim Rosenthal's son) was his first real acting roll. All the characters were based on real people. Every episode is like this and is mostly just chaos LoL RIP Paul Ritter (Martin)
They’re grown adults with their own lives, and they visit their parents once a week for ‘Friday Night Dinner’
Unbelievable show I bet you will love it. Martin is the best character and one of the best in tv history.
Absolutely perfect representation on two English brothers and their parents 😂
I love Friday night dinner, glad you’re reacting to it 😅
That guy being scared of his own dog absolutely cracked me up 🤣🤣💀
I’M SO EXCITED YOU’RE WATCHING ONE OF MY COMFORT SHOWS!
Mark Heap plays Jim, he is an awesome comedic actor - usually quite surreal characters, but that's what makes them hilarious. He plays Alan Statham in Green Wing, possibly one of his best characters in my mind - Please watch it at some point, it would be great to see you react to 🤣🤣
I absolutely agree. Absolute master, up there with Peter Sellers.
Green Wing is excellent
Just seen this after I said more or less the same. I think they'd love Green Wing.
Yes guys thanks for this hope it's a regular the episodes get better and better hope you both are doing great
This is quite literally one of the best series ever created. So pleased you are covering it.
About God damn time can't wait for these reactions you guys are going to laugh so bad especially Mr Morris 😂😂😂
i'm really glad you guys got round to see it.... it only gets funnier and better further down the line. you're in for a treat :)
omg I'm so glad you guys are reacting to this! Love this show, it's so crazy at points!
Jackie only gets to see them once a week because they flew the nest & have their own places.
Oh, come on man! I nearly choked at "bitty"!!! 🤣
Mark Heap (jim) is a brilliant character actor, he's been around for a while I first saw him in Brass Eye and later Spaced - both worth a reaction, but he's also done loads of voice acting work for games and adverts.
Friday night dinner is very clever. You will tune into the oddness pretty quickly. Martin (dad) and Jim (neighbour) are the best characters. The episodes do get better as the series progresses. Jim (Mark Heap) also starred in Green Wing, which I highly recommend you check out.
They are a Jewish family, so the sons come home every Friday night for dinner with parents hence the shows name. Jim is a weird neighbour who turns up every week. It defo gets more crazy and weird as it goes on but the more you watch the better it gets!
11:35 I always remember this old adage:
"I am always wary of a person who hates dogs. But I NEVER trust someone who is hated by dogs"
The neighbour Jim, is acted by Mark Heap who along with Kevin Eldon are Britains (and therefore the worlds) most under known comedy actors. Both of them are beyond brilliant! So many great T.V. shows owe them a massive debt of gratitude
Clearly you must be a fan of Big Train.
Mark was fantastic in spaced. Next to red dwarf it's probably my favourite comedy show.
@@krashd Yes, spaced, green wing, stressed Eric, Alan partridge, fist of fun, black books, jam, TMWRNJ, Brass Eye, the list with these 2 Greats is endless. 😁
@@krashd and Jam, and many many others.
Kevin first made me chuckle as Simon Quinlank in Fist of Fun
Best British comedy shows: IT Crowd, Spaced, Darkplace - Matthew Holness is in Darkplace and also plays the sofa bed guy in this episode :)
DAMN I'm so happy you're reacting to this!!
Jim is golden!
My absolute favourite. This series became an extension of my own family very quickly!
Yes so glad your watching this
They only get to see them once a week cause they’re adults that have moved out they always come back home for Friday night dinner! (Hence the name of the show) :) they are full brothers
I'm so happy you guys are doing this; it does get crazier as it goes on.
Excellent, The neighbour Jim is the best thing about the series 😂👍
Great show gets better and better basically it's a Jewish family that come together every Friday night for dinner . The episode with the dead fox is a classic
You really should check out Black Books, the woman in this is in it and it was written by the Father Ted writer Graham Linehan. It’s much funnier than this in my opinion.
black books is genius
He’s terrified of his own dog for me that made the whole show😂😂
Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer are two of the UKs funniest and silliest comedians. Their panel show 'Shooting Stars' is an absolute classic and definitely worthy of your reaction to....it may even prove the most challenging so far...
Queen Boomer is correct - they are brothers , and as a Jewish family - Friday night is the traditional night when the family absolutely MUST have dinner together.
Would the custom of doing so at their parents' house still apply if they had partners &/or kids?
@@davidz3879 I guess that’s when it gets tricky!
@@davidz3879 I suppose it doesn't, as the parents aren't going to either of the grandmothers' houses each week...
@@EmulsionTime There must be exceptions to whatever the custom is. If one of them moved to Australia, they wouldn't be visiting London once a week!
Johnny and Adam are Jackie and Martins's two sons, they are a Jewish family and the boys have grown up and left home and got home to their parents to have dinner every Friday night, it depicts Shabbat dinner in the middle-class secular British-Jewish family but everything always interrupts their Friday Night Dinner. It does get better.
Reeves and Mortimer master chef was a spoof on the old masterchef and its presenters. It’s one of their sketches
So glad you found this. It does get better and better. The Dad is the best
You're in for a treat. This show was absolutely amazing. Got my wife to watch it and she fell in love. So sad it ended.. rip Paul. Wouldn't be the same without you
Glad you liked it ! Agree with all the comments so far. It just gets better. RIP Paul Ritter ❤
Mark Heap who plays Jim in this plays a brilliant character called Dr Alan Statham in another wonderful show Green Wing! You should definitely add that to your list to check out after this
A note about the 5 main actors on this show. Firstly, Jonny (Will's brother) was a main character on a great sitcom "Plebs".
Jim had a smaller role on another great sitcom "Upstart Crow". Upstart Crow starred David Mitchel and Harry Enfield.
Mum Jackie was on yet another great sitcom, "Black Books" with Bill Bailey and Dylon Moran.
Dad Martin is better known for his role in "Chernobyl" a great drama series.
ALL of the shows mentioned are well worth a watch.
Even if Paul Ritter hadn't died, I can't see how there could've been a s7. The writer painted himself into a corner with the ending.
The phrases “shit on it” and “crimble crumble” are now common in our house
Keep watching this!! The dad is brilliant in it. And Jim... well he's just absolutely brilliant and the gift that keeps on giving, there's so much more to come 😅😅😅
Glad you got round to this little gem. Others worth a look are 'Green Wing' or 'Spaced'
Martin actually genuinely hurt himself whilst moving the sofa…. So the pain reaction was real
In this ep, Jackie & her best friend Val love Masterchef, yet it isn't mentioned again.
Yay so glad you done this sadly the dad has passed away, he was actually a great serious actor. Jim is a British fav actor his name is Mark Heap and was hilarious in "Green Wing" and "Spaced"
The sofa guy is the writer/actor of Garth Merengis darkplace....absolute genius show
How can you not like WILSON?😩
@@hellobanking802 everyone loves Wilson..even me
Being a delivery person makes you hate dogs and their owners. Some people think it's ok to have their dog barking at you intimidatingly as they open the door.
I've heard many viewers say that Martin is similar to their father.
Why did it take 7 years for FND to become popular?
The "sofa guy" in this episode is the guy, forget his name, who did the fairly unknown show "Garth Marehengis Dark Place" which is great and you should definitely cover on this channel.
Apple crumble is fantastic, must have custard with it.
Nice to see you're watching this. I've not seen this from the beginning, but the later ones I watched I loved and I can see you really getting into this show
“This is a lot of show” “where is this going?” - you haven’t seen nothing yet, just wait until the later episodes😂
Such a great show.stick with it guys.it won't disappoint.
There's another great comedy that the older brother is in. It's called Plebs, and it's basically a slacker comedy with the gimmick that it's set in ancient Rome (but has a ska/rocksteady soundtrack!).
Now would be a good time to wrap up inbetweeners by watching the 2nd movie. Then we can all move on and enjoy this with you for the foreseeable.
Excellent - 'Jim' is played by Mark Heap who has a long history of odd comedy roles in things like Big Train, Brass Eye and Jam.
Glad you guys are finally on this
YES! Knew you'd check this out eventually
The weird neighbor is also in SPACED as a weird artist.
The Guy with the dog is named Mark heap....You need to check out a comedy sketch show called Big train.
And SPACED of course.
@@amnril And spaced 😂
This show gets better and better. Stick with it!
Yeah definitely Green Wing it a comedy that's so surreal and so brilliant written and edited. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 There's so many brilliant comedies it why I try and get DVD's a Blu-ray of as many as possible.
Rhubarb crumble!!! Mmmm
RIP Paul. Lovely bit of squirrel
How have you guys not hit 100k subscribers yet !!!!!
Lol.. brilliant that you've got around to this.. I came to it late myself but its so good and Jim, the neighbour, just gets funnier and funnier..Mark Heap the actor who plays him deserves a medal.. enjoy.
So excited you are doing this series.. Loved it..thank you King and Queen B!
Here's a fact you don't know that Tom Rosenthal is the son of the old F1 presenter of Jim Rosenthal that used to do F1 8 years in 1997-2005. Boomer and Ms Boomer! :)
Binged this during lockdown here in the UK. Think it's a pretty middle of the road sitcom, the cast elevate the average material which they were given to work with I'd say
She only sees them once a week as they're grown as adults 😁
this is the one show where it gets better with every season imo
So pleased you're watching this, fecking lovely to watch along - great show 👍👍
Love this show. Never fails to make me laugh. A good friend of mine who watches this too, is the five times great nephew of Sir Issac Newton and it was after seeing this I have ended up with a tradition of telling him whenever his relative is mentioned in anything I watch.
They are both their sons; they just don't live at their parents; but they have this family tradition/routine of going to their parents every Friday evening for dinner; hence the title of the show.
That glasses case is a classic that I missed when I saw it on TV. That's just typical of dads cleaning out the shed and not give 3 f**ks with no shirt because they've get sweaty emptying the shed. When I'm doing dirty work in the shed I always wear some old dirty clothes, one of which is an undersized polo shirt that has shrunk in the wash (maybe I've grown out of it), that my daughter takes the p1ss out of me and calls it my "crop top". 😂 BTW Wilson has his own facebook page.
Excellent programme, well worth spending time watching.
The other brother played by Tom Rosenthal is in a show called plebs set in Ancient Rome and that is really funny 😄
My niece who is 10 this is her favorite show and she kept asking when the new series was coming out and our loud mouthed neighbour went its not the dads dead. I wanted to punch him as my niece burst into tears as the dad was her favorite character as so quirky, truly funny.
Its their dad. Boys are both theirs. Friday Night Dinner is WHEN they get together...
Totally agree about ppl that don't like dogs.. definitely something not right
My all time favourite show, it gets even better with character development and the more you get to know them. RIP Paul Ritter, he’s one of the best sitcom characters ever. Gets so much better when they introduce new characters too, like Auntie Val (Bloody Val!), Horrible Grandma and Mr Morris, who I think you would find particularly funny but is a while off yet so one for you to look forward to.
oh christ I just watched the episode from season 2 again with the paint and the crumble; I couldn't stop laughing jesus christ. its been a while since I sat through them all.
Lovely bit of squirrel 😋 sooo glad you boomer god's finally went there with FND. You gonna love this! Shalom
Ps...one of the great things about this series is how the ridiculousness builds and the music lets you know it's gonna just keep getting more ridiculous as the episode builds. Brilliant writing and one of the great classic comedy timing examples of british actor's/actresses. Enjoy the crimble crumble hole you've just ventured down 🤣
Shit on it... will be your new phrase you use I guaran'fuckin'tee it lol
It's funny, i was going to recommend this series to you. You're going to love it!
After Friday night dinner you need to give Plebs a watch. It’s got Tom Rosenthal in who plays Jonny
The mom is in BLACKS BOOKS, EPISODES, BOTH FUNNY SERIES😂😂😂
I'm from Sweden, but I love many British comedyseries.
Benidorm, Keeping Up Appearances, Friday Night Dinner and The Inbeetweeners. Probably forgot a lot of other good ones also.
Yassss thank you so much for reacting to this i can't wait to re watch them with you
Guys you need to watch the film the festival ! It’s got Simon from the inbetweeners in it and it’s so funny !
You definitely need to react to more of these
