It can be, it depends on course. If you are using the cpu to render videos, 6 cores can be fine if you don't mind waiting. If you are earning money from content creation and time is money, then having more cores to render with will be worth it. I would say for hobbyists, 9600x is absolutely fine. If you are using gpu to render things using a built-in encoder, then 6 cores is not going to matter that much. If your thing is gaming- 99% live content, and 1% long form video, then a gpu investment is going to be a higher priority. If your gpu is barely used, then you might want to invest more in a higher cpu core count. :D

You can also sell the cpu later, on eBay and such. Just keep the box and protective plastic case it comes in. Just make sure the cpu you get, is compatible with the motherboard you own. Its good to see a change in paradigm, or a shift. Its all thanks to Intel pushing things to the extreme and now AMD want to dial down to be safe and thats a good thing. Now defaults its eficient and performant, you want more go and OC it but at your own risk.
Its not much of an upgrade - I think leo said that, but its great to see the potential here for upcoming 3D versions of this silicon - the draw is really well optimised now to get higher clocks etc
The gap between Zen 3 and 4 was good but the gap between Zen 4 and 5 is ... near non existent ... Zen 5 appears to be a refresh of Zen 4, just a little bit more efficient ... and now Zen 4 CPU have a lowered prices so ... what the interest to buy Zen 5 CPU now ?! Better to wait for futur gen with, maybe, a real generationnal gap.
Yet we all used to praise tick tock from intel which was the same thing - Performance increase followed by a power efficiency and die shrink improvement. Now if these are working same frequency at much lower temps and power draw. I wonder if overclocking is back on the table or perhaps better PBO performance increases in for example this instance above 5.5ghz PBO vs the 7600x.
I think AMD wil soon release a 9800X which is an 8-core CPU with 140W to 170W TDP. There is also a possibility of 9650X with 95W to 120W TDP to take advantage of what Zen5 have to offer.
I mean, if you have a fucking casket standing next to you on or under the table - then yea. If you want to build in a lunchbox sized case that you can carry with you in a backpack or literally in a bag - then it's a damn banger of a CPU.
They absolutely will not be releasing X3D in September. Before the end of the year? Most likely, but no way will it be September. It makes absolutely zero sense for them to do so.
the rumours for the 800 series motherboards and X3D have been sept for probably 4 months now, the only thing that changed was these current parts have been delayed by 2 weeks

why gamers are even LOOKING at this NON-3D version I dont know. They KNOW the 7800X3D was SO much better... of course the coming X3D will ROCK. This isnt the chip for gamers.

looking at the results for gaming, i rather buy the 7600x over the 9600x. it is so much cheaper for only 10 fps + less.....
Is the 9600X a good option for streaming and content creation.?
It can be, it depends on course. If you are using the cpu to render videos, 6 cores can be fine if you don't mind waiting. If you are earning money from content creation and time is money, then having more cores to render with will be worth it. I would say for hobbyists, 9600x is absolutely fine.
If you are using gpu to render things using a built-in encoder, then 6 cores is not going to matter that much.
If your thing is gaming- 99% live content, and 1% long form video, then a gpu investment is going to be a higher priority.
If your gpu is barely used, then you might want to invest more in a higher cpu core count.
:D
@@daunted232 If you had an Intel core and an AMD core, would you get the same work from both? So if you were an expert, can you look at cores and speed, do the math and know which one will win, without ever turning the chip on?
@@CatherineMitchell-br8dx You can't really "do the math". I don't have all the testing equipment I would need to conduct such tests. It really isn't the biggest deal which brand you choose, they will both do the job. I wouldn't stress over a couple of %, here and there. Get what you can afford, of the modern options. You can also sell the cpu later, on eBay and such. Just keep the box and protective plastic case it comes in.
Just make sure the cpu you get, is compatible with the motherboard you own.
Amd + am5 socket motherboard + ddr5 ram/memory
Cinebench R23 multi has the 14600k level with the 5950x but with 50 watts less power??
Correct - Ryzen 9 5950X draws 131W while Core i5-14600K requires 180W.
Wow, extremely efficient!
Really looks like this is THE version to get if you are looking to move to this platform.
The value proposition for the Ryzen 5 9600x is just not there
Intel will be finding some solace with these processors. AMD just went full bore on efficiency and forgot to crank performance
It's not that much more efficient over Zen4
Its good to see a change in paradigm, or a shift. Its all thanks to Intel pushing things to the extreme and now AMD want to dial down to be safe and thats a good thing. Now defaults its eficient and performant, you want more go and OC it but at your own risk.
Its not much of an upgrade - I think leo said that, but its great to see the potential here for upcoming 3D versions of this silicon - the draw is really well optimised now to get higher clocks etc
Intel would love to make something that runs this cool and efficient. Intel fanboys galore talking nonsense. Some money changing hands, thats for sure
Looks like overclocking is back on the menu boys!
(Intel punching the air)
The 9600x is going be "top of the chart" when you only compare it to CPUs that are weaker than it.
It's matching and beating the 14900k in a lot of titles, I think for a 6 core, it's punching well above it's weight. Half the price too.
Paid review.
You clearly don’t know AMD if you think they would pay for a review. No money ever changes hands for reviews.
You seem to like this one. Some of the results are good with that board.
This would be great if it's a laptop cpu. For a desktop, it's meh considering it's price. And it's freaking 2 years if wait.
For those looking a pure performance for gaming upgrade, its disappointing, but Leo does make some good points about the power efficiency curves and the potential soon should be great
why gamers are even LOOKING at this NON-3D version I dont know. They KNOW the 7800X3D was SO much better... of course the coming X3D will ROCK. This isnt the chip for gamers.
@@danielgriffith8911 At 4k the 7800x3d does not make sense, a 7600 will give the same performance
@@Dempig guess Im learning new stuff everyday. 188 bucks, cant beat that.
Lol Leos test kit is like the highest end stuff you can reasonably get on a desktop.
If AMD let the new generation be overpowered they would probably face the same degradation issues in a few years as Intel now.
You can't have everything. I am happy to have decent performance with much lower power draw. Can't wait to see the rest of the line up plus the X3D chips , compatibility with higher speed DDR5 RAM sticks and the newer 800 series motherboards.
Meh, not impressive
Thanks Leo - liked this a lot, some good arguments for this processor - I am waiting for 3D chips, but the architecture looks like a massive step forward for AMD, poor Intel
Glad you enjoyed it
new product new polishings
Snatched 9600x for 200e, can't be happier tbh!
Yo a $180 en black friday :)
