It was a game changer with a steering wheel because it had throttle control, some cars were hard to control like the Pantera, the Caterham, M3 Evo, it was no joke.
Fading brake lights, real automatic gearbox simulation (you could kickdown) were features that weren't in any other game and still aren't in todays games. This game was so good fro drifters with the dragon range touge.

Someone on GTPlanet actually pointed out that there was supposed to be a full-blown story mode with all its drama but didn't make the cut, so all that's left is the intro. Still it's equally as cool as GT4's one.

Enthusia is far away to be a gran turismo clone, it has his own identity and vibe, his original purpose was totally different. But with money related problem and the big success of gran turismo 4, they needed to bring it fast on the market, so they decided to entierly wipe this aspect of the game (the story). Which is why enthusia can feel somewhat off or empty at some point. Enthusia could had been a big success if konami would had take more risk towards the devellopment and less focusing on his rival which was gran turismo at it's time. Sadly it's will be the last racing game that konami will make despite it's a truly gems with the best car physics ever at their time. People who own this game when it was out, know when they played it that it was a gems, yes gran turismo 4 had more content, but the driving experience is stellar on enthusia, specially with a steering wheels. Wish that konami can bring back such racing game even if it's impossible by today standard.
Apparently. The intro was done during a time in development where the game was meant to have a story mode involving a photographer and her pilot husband dying in a car crash during a race. Thus the dramatic intro.

Excellent game, with this and GT4 I was the happiest kid ever. I love the feel of the music, the graphics are great, the selection of cars is amazing and I admire the "different" style of driving
I still have my PS2 copy, original case and everything! I had a blast playing this, listening to the soundtrack, and even that dramatic opening sequence which now makes me believe we should be a photographer at racing events rather than a driver. But the feel of the game, how mysterious it made the Nordschleife appear, the nature of the game made me play harder, try harder to beat it!!
I think one of the best parts of this that has not been mentioned yet is that is the only game I have ever seen that rewards you for being a good driver, every other game is based on having a tuned OP car (like GT), or is just based on having the same or similar car and being better, so they discourage you on picking up the car you want. Enthusia on the other side is a game that encourages you to pick up the car you want or try weird things and try to win superior cars, I have not seen any other game with this intention or mechanic so far.
I have sweet memories from 2008, I've got ps2 from a friend of mine with Enthusia. Firstly I was disappointed what it's not GT4, but when I tried physics.. man, what a feelings! Accomplished every challenge perfectly!
Definitely my favourite racing game of all time, this game physics was way ahead of it's time but sadly it didn't make any comeback, and I don't think it will. I played it with a steering wheel back in 2010 when I got my ps2, I was living the dream back then. The funny thing I got it with need for speed most wanted but I played Enthusia more lol.

Oh, Enthusia! I played this game recently and it got me extremely frustrated in some places) But still, handling is so unique, it's take time to learn and lots of patience to master. Car selection is just amazing, feels more like Forza Horizon or something.
Thank you so much Viper for this review ! I was waiting for it desperately ! Clearly this game was awesome for a first attempt, so sad they didn't do another one, it could have done something really good... Awesome video man ! Keep it up ! 😁
funny things is i just played this game 3 weeks before u reviewed it viperconcept. i know this game first because of xtimelessgaming who posted in his youtube about enthusia professional racing , and frankly i didnt enjoy it first because its hard to master the cars but nonetheless after playing for 4 hours im finding this game quite enjoyable. one thing that stands out is that all cars (in my opinion) are sounds like their real life counterpart. for comparison check 787b from gran turismo 4 and enthusia professional racing if you know what i mean
On gt5 my main drift car was a wildly tuned 787b, would always drift on Tsukuba or fuji or wherever (backup drift car was a lp640 Lamborghini or Chevy zo6, both stock) Damn I'm feeling mega nostalgic because of this video and the comments
I've always wanted an video essay about enthusia since I found this game out when a friend showed me it in 2016, I'm fascinated with this game, both because of it's astonishing simulation but also because it gives me an weird sence of nostalgia, like if I played it in my childhood
I remember trying it out in 2019 (I think) and driving the Estima round the Nordschleife was amazing! At the time it was probably the 3rd best out there, just behind Richard Burns Rally and Live FS (Never played that). Thanks Viper, epic game!
I remember the time when this come out, we were waiting insanely for GT4 , but insanely, like we were waiting the first release then got delayed... Then delayed again, i remember those days, it was like everyday checking how much till the release, and i remember see Enthusia here and there and i thought whoa looks nice, but literally we didnt remember that game till almost a year after, for the moment it was a cool game , but dosnt compare for me with GT4 because i got like 1000hs in it the first 2 years
I had 7000hrs+ in gt5 and gt6 on my ps3 back in the day I had the fastest top end and quickest accelerating veyron for months on both of em, not to mention my race converted tvr Tuscan that could do a 6:4X:XXX times on sports soft tires on the ring, thing had so much acceleration it would gap everything else on the track, and the tuning i did made it dead stable and predictable Respect to polyphany digital for the whole GT series (can't wait, am pissing myself with excitement for gt7)
9:07 Do you use the PCSX2 emulator? You can emulate the steering wheel, and force feedback works too, I have a Logitech Momo and it works perfectly with Gran Turismo 4 and other racing games with wheel support.
Honestly i prefer the Enthusia car list rather than GT4. I mean they have M3 E30, Alphard, and many oddballs that lack in GT4. However the track list say otherwise for Enthusia since the only License track are Nurburgring Nordeschliefe and Tsukuba
whoa incredible ... I think I am one of the only ones who had the opportunity to play this game and not have played gt4 in its day, I had a great time at 3 years old (I am 16), without a doubt the best playstation2 game I played Thank you for remembering this title
Enthusia is a really good game. It doesn't give the sensation that all the tracks are in the same place that Gt4 does to me. But i can't ge used to Enthusia's physics. Also, Gt4 doesn't have rain.
I have tried it in actual ps2 with G27, very sim like, all sim racer can jump into it and drive. Sad you missed the automatic transmission. In this game, the only sim recreated how a typical AT works
It was such a cool game back in the day, and with some cars you'll need a wheel, I remember rambling on a race with the Pantera or the Viper, it was hard.
The game's intro was "dramantic" because Enthusia was supposed to have a story mode, where you play as the camera girl. It was cut off due to tine constraints sadly, and we're left with the Enthusia mode instead. Which is a shame since there aren't any sim-ish racing game with an actual story mode.
Recently I bought PS2 with only one game - GT4, and a seller add for free this one with the words like 'This one is a bad one'. So I've never take a disk with it for a past 2 years, since I got it... So now I get what I have to do!!! Thanks!
Despite the not so well good Career Mode, This game Is a gem. - The CarList have a lot of niche and classics never made into GT, like the Alfa SZ, the Citroen DS, a Saab (!) And others. - i really love the music made for This game, the Nordschleife Theme looks like a RPG Boss Theme. - The Psychics of Enthusia. Thanks to this game i started to drive with a wheel 😁

Total immersion racing is much more like an earlier version of Grid. There's no consumer cars like Enthusia or Gran Turismo.
Actually this was the first racing game i ever played before any of the GT series
Thank you so much Viper for this review ! I was waiting for it desperately ! Clearly this game was awesome for a first attempt, so sad they didn't do another one, it could have done something really good... Awesome video man ! Keep it up ! 😁
This intro would fit more better with racing game with a story like NFS for example
Enthusia the real driving simulator ....
It's crazy and sad to see how many classic or good franchises are dead because of Konami's bad managerial decisions
I've been on and off with whether I should buy this game or not for YEARS and YOU sir have convinced me to finally try it!
The voice in the game is like "ENTHUSIA! 😠👊"
funny things is i just played this game 3 weeks before u reviewed it viperconcept. i know this game first because of xtimelessgaming who posted in his youtube about enthusia professional racing , and frankly i didnt enjoy it first because its hard to master the cars but nonetheless after playing for 4 hours im finding this game quite enjoyable. one thing that stands out is that all cars (in my opinion) are sounds like their real life counterpart. for comparison check 787b from gran turismo 4 and enthusia professional racing if you know what i mean
On gt5 my main drift car was a wildly tuned 787b, would always drift on Tsukuba or fuji or wherever (backup drift car was a lp640 Lamborghini or Chevy zo6, both stock)
Damn I'm feeling mega nostalgic because of this video and the comments
Zero dislikes... what a masterpiece!
1:24 IT'S TIME FOR *[ E U R O B E A T ]*
Then delayed again, i remember those days, it was like everyday checking how much till the release, and i remember see Enthusia here and there and i thought whoa looks nice, but literally we didnt remember that game till almost a year after, for the moment it was a cool game , but dosnt compare for me with GT4 because i got like 1000hs in it the first 2 years
I had 7000hrs+ in gt5 and gt6 on my ps3 back in the day
I had the fastest top end and quickest accelerating veyron for months on both of em, not to mention my race converted tvr Tuscan that could do a 6:4X:XXX times on sports soft tires on the ring, thing had so much acceleration it would gap everything else on the track, and the tuning i did made it dead stable and predictable
Respect to polyphany digital for the whole GT series (can't wait, am pissing myself with excitement for gt7)
I totally forgotten about this game until you rediscovered it!
Enthusia is my favourite PS2 game
9:07 Do you use the PCSX2 emulator? You can emulate the steering wheel, and force feedback works too, I have a Logitech Momo and it works perfectly with Gran Turismo 4 and other racing games with wheel support.
One of my favorite game in my early ages.
Thx. Viper.
thank you so much for taking my suggestion seriously
Honestly i prefer the Enthusia car list rather than GT4. I mean they have M3 E30, Alphard, and many oddballs that lack in GT4. However the track list say otherwise for Enthusia since the only License track are Nurburgring Nordeschliefe and Tsukuba
Really enjoy your review! Thanks
whoa incredible ... I think I am one of the only ones who had the opportunity to play this game and not have played gt4 in its day, I had a great time at 3 years old (I am 16), without a doubt the best playstation2 game I played Thank you for remembering this title
S P E E D I A P O L I S R I N G
What's next ? Hamburgerring Nomshleife ? XD
Ok my joke just got ruined bc the Nordshleife is actually on the game
*_o h w e l l_*
@@kankanmwah LoL
that intro was actually pretty good
Enthusia is a really good game.
It doesn't give the sensation that all the tracks are in the same place that Gt4 does to me.
But i can't ge used to Enthusia's physics.
Also, Gt4 doesn't have rain.
Nevermind guys, got really far in Enthusia, i was having a severe case of Skilllis Issuelitis
the most epic intro I've ever seen )))
yeah, this is the hardest car racing game in PS2 for sure.
played this game A LOT in the mid 2000's, nostalgia
the test driver they used for this game is the legendary motoharu kurosawa (aka GAN SAN)
A game where the honda accord is actually included!! Lol finally
The intro tho😂😂😂 jeez I already miss the 2005
I have tried it in actual ps2 with G27, very sim like, all sim racer can jump into it and drive.
Sad you missed the automatic transmission. In this game, the only sim recreated how a typical AT works
If i m not wrong that was simulated in GT4 as well. Take for example the Mercedes SL55 AMG or the Nissan GTR Concept on GT4
Wow bro this was like a documentary 👍🏻
It was such a cool game back in the day, and with some cars you'll need a wheel, I remember rambling on a race with the Pantera or the Viper, it was hard.
I dunno about you guys, but the intro is fantastic to me
Thank you for choose the Citroen Xsara
ikr! it's such a great game! I played this all the time in 2013. I'm gonna get another copy asap to start playing again.

Enthusia Pro Racing:Exists
GT4:I'm about to end this man's whole career
I remember playing this game when I was 6 or 7 but forgotten the name for years till now
I missed this series is the best
Good lord they went all out on this game. I should look into this more sometime
I had the chance to play it and was very enjoyable.
GT4 was my favorite, but Enthusia was a very good addition to the car racing catalog.
Every single time i read the title of this game as Euthanasia
The game's intro was "dramantic" because Enthusia was supposed to have a story mode, where you play as the camera girl. It was cut off due to tine constraints sadly, and we're left with the Enthusia mode instead.
Which is a shame since there aren't any sim-ish racing game with an actual story mode.
What about TOCA.
what I've been waiting for this video ...
Recently I bought PS2 with only one game - GT4, and a seller add for free this one with the words like 'This one is a bad one'. So I've never take a disk with it for a past 2 years, since I got it... So now I get what I have to do!!! Thanks!
I didn't heard about this game. Thanks ! :)
I never heard about this awesome game
11:13 one of the most beautiful track in realistic racing game i ever seen
Despite the not so well good Career Mode, This game Is a gem.
- The CarList have a lot of niche and classics never made into GT, like the Alfa SZ, the Citroen DS, a Saab (!) And others.
- i really love the music made for This game, the Nordschleife Theme looks like a RPG Boss Theme.
- The Psychics of Enthusia. Thanks to this game i started to drive with a wheel 😁
