It kinda looks as if Steve prefers the S1. He was hanging out with it throughout the whole video. The saying is... nothing lasts forever, and as you mentioned, lasers have advanced. I do like like my Lasermatic being enclosed, but sometimes I feel limited by the size of a project. Greg
The part about a 50/100% refund towards a new machine is only applicable in cases where they are unable to provide replacement parts for a broken machine, at least according to the text right above where it said that
@TheClackShack agreed, just thought that clarification was beneficial I also noticed that xTool is offering every D1 owner a no strings $100 discount code that can be combined with the trade up program, that's more than a 30% discount if put towards the S1, to put it mildly a very good deal and if one were to have xPoints to use as well you could get the S1 more or less for free If people are looking for a cost effective brand xTool are the undisputed champions with the way xPoints works to give you discounts, you can almost get perpetually free materials if you upload designs from jobs to DesignFind
Hi. I have the D1 pro with extender. I see the s1 can cut up to 3 m. When I make dollhouses I need the extension length but also need to use the print and cut option to burn the wider dollhouse fronts. Eg in the 1:24 scale I often need to burn 600-800mm wide fronts. Does xtool have a replacement that will allow the same flexibility in width, can the S1 have the wider cut? Cheers
@ cheers Tks. Any suggestions for a replacement to the d1 that could allow the wider cut when it eventually goes unserviceable? I need both extra height and width. Tks
Shame xtool don't offer the S1 conveyor in Europe.. I use the D1 20W with the extension to do painted canvas, I would happily change to the S1 if I could get the size of work space
Appreciate your input. I am greatly disappointed that X Tool chose to do this, but I understand. I'm sure they will understand when I go to Roly Lasermatic. That is where I am headed.
Wonder if its somewhat related to the potential liability claims that open frame lasers pose and that Xtool now having a USA base makes they're more accessible to legal actions ?????
I think you overlooked the previous paragraph. It says that the 100% refund is if tech support is unable to fix or replace parts on your D1. It's not a trade-in program. Unless you plan on breaking your D1.
What am I missing? Xtool is an increasingly closed, over-priced, over-hyped system. They aren't terrible, but after careful investigation I decided not to be an Xtool customer. The D1 seems particularly ordinary. There are several similar open frame lasers that are better and cheaper. I have three competing machines and they all work very well, and they are all FULLY supported in Lightburn (and any other software I want to use). They have no path for locking me into a closed system. I can't say these things about Xtool. Of course, Xtool is still the only laser maker I have seen resort to sponsoring a female UA-camr apparently without pants on. I guess they know what it takes to make people notice there products.
I have many open machines and prefer lightburn based as well. Some folks like the structured system in the xTool space. I like their machines and many of the features are very advanced. XCS is getting better but still not my go to for designing.
So I think its not just the S1 that should be in the conversation for entry Xtool. The M1 Ultra and F1 Lite should be too. So not on sale prices we are talking 800 for F1 Lite 900 for the S1 1000 for M1U. All 10 watts at that point, and different use cases. In terms of entry that M1 Ultra gets you alot more for another $100. Just saying we are talking about entry level, so its kinda a good line up. You can choose portable, wider cutting area(and conveyor) or a jack of all trades. I think in some ways they should made a S2 thats a little bigger area and start at a 20 watt.I saw this as a S1 watt owner that I wish sooooo bad the cutting area was like 12inches instead of 11 and change. Just because hard comparing that M1U being able to be a cricut with some extras I think edges out the S1 for most people.
The reason that I lean toward the S1 is the CPWA, (Cost per working area). For most jobs, the S1 work area is gonna be much more versatile in the fact that it can be up to a 40 watt machine. The bigger machine can do larger items, the smaller machine cannot always handle the larger jobs. Just my perspective.
Ya beat me to it! Made a video on this same subject yesterday. Just have not edited it yet. The D1 was my first 10W laser, also in 2022.
Yea, it has had a long run.
I have an old 10w Ortur that I'm keeping for those times when I need to engrave something too large for an enclosure.
It is good to have one around, I have a couple also.

Yea. Thanks for watching

That is much better than just being SOL if it breaks.

At some point Xtool was going to have to do that. For the ones out of warranty it is good customer service for 50% towards another machine.
Better than, “No service”

Even with the extension, the width is still limited to 18.5 inches wide.

@@RayBrown-do7qp give the Longer B1 series a look or the Atomstack A series
@ cheers thank you shall do.

yea, that is unfortunate.

Roly makes a really nice machine. The XW was a great move also

No way of knowing. I think it just was time to be replaced.
So whats Xtools plan for spares?
I am sure they have parts left over. Likely a few machines as well

The folks that were worried were afraid if theirs tore up, it could not be fixed. Maybe I wasn't clear.
I have the D1 Pro 40w so is that discontinued too?
Yes, all the D series machines.
That's the machine I just bought mine a couple months ago.
It is a tough machine. Mine still runs..
@TheClackShack I'm waiting on a couple of parts for mine. I'm ready to get back to learning this hobby.
